Cairo ConnectionMemphis Escape Rooms - Stage RoadEscape roomIRLExtremely immersive and all flowed well. Gamemasters were fantastic! Not my favorite theme, but this was very well executed.
Camp WasaakeeMemphis Escape Rooms - Stage RoadEscape roomIRLThis is now one of our favorite rooms! Everything flowed well, and there was a good mix of puzzles. The storyline was great (with some nostalgia built in), and the room was immersive and well built! Everything worked well. Just a really fun room! Our game masters for both rooms at this location were amazing.
Killer Inn V2Time Will Tell Escape Games [prev. College Town Escape Rooms]Escape roomIRLRoom could have been ok, but the stifling heat and indifferent game master made the experience quite negative. Not welcoming at all and certainly did not bring any atmosphere to the game. This was the sort of game that could have benefited from a good game master given the limitations of the room. We were very disappointed.
Cosmic CrisisThe Escape Game - BirminghamEscape roomIRLThis location has great customer service! We could not have asked for a better experience in that regard. Not my favorite room theme, but the room was suggested when we asked for a less linear room. Despite not being sold on the theme in the beginning, the room was great! Loved the puzzle variety and everything worked well! Number of puzzles was good. All made sense, and we had a great time! Set was immaculately designed.
The DepthsThe Escape Game - BirminghamEscape roomIRLAgain excellent customer service at this location! Game master very attentive and intervened quickly when one thing didn't trigger immediately. Solid game with a good number and variety of puzzles. Excellent set. We had a great time with this game!
The HeistThe Escape Game - BirminghamEscape roomIRLGreat game master and excellent customer service all around! Loved this game! Good variety and number of puzzles...more traditional escape room vibes! Fantastic set design! We had a great time!
AloneEast Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis was not a good experience for us. There were malfunctions in the room when sensors did not trigger correctly, and we were unable to get anyone to respond to us for assistance using the technology provided. When we tried to exit the room, the doorknob fell off. We were locked in the room, so we had to call the facility more than once to receive assistance to be able to trigger the game to continue. When the game concluded, we had to wait over 5 minutes for someone to let us out of the room. The storyline was not our favorite, and the puzzles didn't really correspond with the theme of the information in the room. We tend to prefer nonlinear rooms, and this was the opposite... but this is obviously a preference. Overall not the best service and several malfunctions. We were very disappointed.
MawMaw's SecretMemphis Escape Rooms - South MainEscape roomIRLAlways great theming and everything worked as designed. Room story was fun. We typically prefer different puzzle types, so it wasn't our favorite room; however, it was another great experience.
ClueBreakout Games - ChattanoogaEscape roomIRLThe room was ok. It wasn't our favorite, but we had fun. We are accustomed to more puzzles, and we felt it was lacking a little variety. Game master didn't really communicate a lot before the game, and there was minimal instruction in the video, so we hesitated a lot, not knowing what we should or shouldn't do in the room. It was just a little awkward and uncomfortable. The game itself worked worked well and flowed well. Would have benefited from more spaces and puzzles. We asked for a couple of clues that we didn't actually need, but we were pacing ourselves based on other rooms we've done. Turns out we had plenty of time. Overall not a bad beginner room and a fun theme. Probably not the best for a larger or more experienced group.

Special Ops: Mysterious MarketThe Escape Game - Berry HillEscape roomIRLLet me preface with the fact that this isn't my favorite type of room, but this group does everything so well, it was great experience! Good variety of puzzle activities, excellent theming and great storyline. This one was more linear and tough to have people working on different things, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. Customer service here cannot be beat and very immersive rooms.
Merry Movie ChristmasMemphis Escape Rooms - East MemphisEscape roomIRLWe tend to put off Christmas rooms because we usually find them to be weaker, but the two Christmas rooms at MER right now are fantastic. Strong room design and good story progression. Middle of this experience was our least favorite but still fine. Just a fun room overall. I would consider this to be an easy room, but the puzzles are varied and fit well with the story, with awesome set design. EVERYTHING WORKED, and game was run very well with an appropriately interactive but efficient game master (we've had a bad run with our last 3 games at this location in these 2 areas). Just a great experience from start to finish.
Tracks of DeceptionLocal Escape Rooms MemphisEscape roomIRLWeakest room of this location for us but more preference than anything else. A lot of the puzzles involved the same type of cognitive strategy, and these are our least favorite types of puzzles. Storyline, set-design and number of puzzles were good. Cool room but prefer the other 3 at this location.
Lost PyramidMemphis Escape Rooms - South MainEscape roomIRLThis room was recently updated. Loved the changes to this room and felt that virtually everything we had initially disliked about the room when we first played was resolved. Theming excellent, and puzzles unique. Updates definitely brought this closer to the experience of newer rooms with this group. Service was great! Not a completely accessible room-crawling and climbing necessary by at least one member of the party. Some thematic elements may be a little unsettling (lighting changes etc.), so wouldn't recommend if a member of the party was particularly sensitive but nothing overtly scary.
Yuletide Toy HeistMemphis Escape Rooms - South MainEscape roomIRLFun room with a lot of interesting elements. Staff were extremely quick with hints (usually we ask for no hints but forgot due to the unusual beginning of the room), so something to note to them if you don't love hints. Puzzles were great and well-themed; however, some things had to be manipulated after completing the puzzle to access them. It wasn't always clear what was planned to open, so we had completed puzzles a couple of times and were waiting for something to happen when we had push or pull on it to make it work. The center platform in the room and I did not get-along, as I smashed my shin into the bottom every time I had to interact with it. I'm shorter, so it was hard to reach anything without getting my legs very close to it. May be a unique to me experience, but definitely watch your legs! It was very warm in the room, something we haven't noticed in other rooms. All of that being said, one of the strongest Christmas-themed rooms we've played. Game host was very nice and very respectful of our no-hint request once we asked them for it.
Castle of ConundrumsLiberation Escape roomsEscape roomIRLMost immersive theme at this location. I wanted to love this room and would have with some tweaking to the execution of it. As has been mentioned, several of the tech items in the room are finicky and had to be manipulated a lot to make them work. There would be no way to just automatically line these up perfectly. Some mechanism to guide placement of things would have been very beneficial. One item in the room fell apart as we tried to use it, making it a bit more difficult to complete the task. Some items would not stay where they were to be placed and had to be held there while someone else finished the puzzle. This was tough with three people. Other than the many execution things listed, the puzzles were a lot of fun, but we were extremely rushed at the end. We wasted a lot of time not knowing how to position a few things, and I stubbornly avoided hints. Still enjoyed the room and appreciated the theming, but it would have been a more enjoyable experience if exact item placement was guided a little better. Host great. Good mix of puzzles but prefer less tech with better execution all day!
The Captain's QuartersLiberation Escape roomsEscape roomIRLBasic but fun escape room. Nothing really hard here, but enough puzzles for a small group. One of their more themed rooms. Not a lot of tech in this one but a variety of puzzles that fit the theme. Only slight issue was that our game host was not aware we had completed the room until several minutes later. We had to request a clue to end the game and even still were told to complete the final puzzle until the host saw we were holding the item. Not a huge issue for us, as we weren't shooting for a specific time or anything, but might be a problem for a group hunting leaderboard status. If you haven't done a ton of rooms, this is a good starting point but also just a good, solid escape experience.
The SinnersLocal Escape Rooms MemphisEscape roomIRLWe had a great time in this room. We found the puzzles to be excellent, and there were a ton of them, making this room challenging for 2 people. Upon reflecting on the experience, there wasn't much of a storyline for the room (and it definitely doesn't follow the plot listed in the description of the room), so the experience might not be what you're looking for if you were to choose the room based upon the description or if you're wanting a very story-driven experience. There is a warning about changes to the storyline several times during booking, so just be aware this is accurate. We were aware, and it did not affect our enjoyment of the room. We really enjoyed the puzzles and the design of the room, and we didn't notice that there wasn't a plot driving the progression of puzzles until later. We did have one issue during the room, as we are of shorter stature and could not access some needed info for a puzzle. As a result, we had to do some trial and error for that. We requested a hint but were just directed to the information we couldn't reach, so that wasn't ideal. A stepstool in the room would have been helpful; though, this probably isn't something they run into very often with no one in the party able to access the info. Again, for this location, our game host was friendly, but there wasn't a lot of interaction. We noticed something on social media following our trip to the room about a promotion involving completing the room with four clues or less, but we have never been informed about this by staff during any visit, despite expressing that we prefer not to receive hints in the room unless we ask for them. We absolutely would have participated in that activity if we had been aware of it. The end of the game was quite rushed, which has been our experience each time we've played here, and it definitely made the situation a little uncomfortable during a prior visit when we had to interrupt the host's goodbyes to be able to book a second game. Not a huge deal and doesn't affect our enjoyment of the game activities, but it does discourage rebooking during the visit for us. Overall, we loved the puzzles, and the decor/theming is always on point. Service efficient and pleasant.
One Crazy Night Before ChristmasLiberation Escape roomsEscape roomIRLDid this room with my 11-year-old, and she loved it! I pretty much let her handle it, and she did (with some hints). It was a cute room and a lot of fun. Didn't really love the story, and some of the puzzles were so simple that I just knew there had to be more to it (there wasn't), but the room was fun regardless. I wouldn't say it was my favorite room, and it wasn't a high tech or elaborately decorated room; however, the activities were fun. Room host was great (except didn't send the photo they took, so I didn't get the link to tip him!) and very sweet to my kid. We've had two very positive experiences with this location since our first not great one. Excited to come back!
Magician's CodeMemphis Escape Rooms - East MemphisEscape roomIRLThis room was extremely frustrating for us because several things just did not work correctly and had to be repeatedly manipulated. We spent several minutes on one task repeatedly requesting help, but it just wasn't functioning properly. The host kept giving the same "hint" to assure the item was covered (it was), and we repeated the process over and over again until it finally resolved. We had to reposition several things over and over again to make them function. It was difficult to know if we had info correct given that the puzzles weren't functioning correctly. A couple of times we requested support when we weren't sure if we were completing activities correctly and received clues for prior puzzles that we had already completed. When we expressed concern with the puzzles after the game, the host said something to the effect of "oh, okay" and changed the subject to taking the photo. There was no ownership or acknowledgement of the issues. This was our 4th room at this location that had at least some minor malfunction (2 with major), and our 3rd day with not so great host experiences. We were so disappointed because this room would have been awesome if things had functioned correctly. Theming was great, and puzzle concepts were good. If your vision isn't the best, this would not be a good room to book. Overall, our first 2 rooms and host experiences at this location were great, but we've had some trouble since. The South Main and Florence locations have been far superior overall with rooms and host experiences.
