Legend of TheradoniaEscape Hour Gig HarborEscape roomIRLGood looking room, puzzles have a bit of a disconnect to the plot line. Feels like a lot of investment from some group of people but not adding in the true enthusiast flare that would make their rooms great. Was our very first escape room as a couple and had a hard time progressing through (what we know now are) the commonly used ER puzzle types. Overall a good room if you’ve done a few or are in a group of 4-6 and can divide and conquer.
The SubwayEscape This FrederickEscape roomIRLWas super excited to play this game given the unique theme and set however we left disappointed. The main reason why I’m giving this a thumbs down is prior to entering the room we were told that there’s only three hints available and if we’d like more, we’d have to like/follow the company on social media. In general, really not a fan of gating the number of hints but the push for social media engagement felt super disingenuous. The room is cool and immersive, the set design is impressive and feels authentic. However, the amount of puzzles and the difficulty are really lacking in this room. Me and my husband finished in about 35 minutes. If you’re a seasoned player I don’t think you’ll find what you’re looking for out of this room. Overall would recommend skipping this experience.
The CureEnigma Escapes WAEscape roomIRLThis was our first room we escaped from so it holds a special place in our hearts. Very fun and easy flow from one puzzle to the next. Good use of different puzzle types and not fully reliant on locks/codes. Loved how most everything in the room was used in some way and the clue system was immersive. Our favorite room at Enigma.
The Secrets of The MasterBrainy ActzEscape roomIRLDo not play this game. Walking in feels very overwhelming as this company does escape rooms, axe throwing, rage room, painting etc. Walking into the room you have very little to go off - and the biggest problem was we had no way of communicating with our game master. We are given a tablet to ask for clues but were in the “wrong” channel and got no response for over 10 minutes. Locks/puzzle mechanics were worn and difficult to open. Key puzzle really needed to be maneuvered in a specific way - GM even struggled when walking us through the ending. TLDR; there are much better escape experiences in the Tacoma area.
