Tandy Clause and the Naughty Elf - CLOSEDTHE BASEMENT: A Live Escape Room Experience - SylmarEscape roomIRLThis room is not very different from The Courtyard in general. It’s not scary at all but the puzzles are similar if not almost the same but just with a layover. I’m sad about the intro video being AI. It was ugly and really they should just get rid of it. I’m sad so many rooms are falling into this now. It sours my experience. The staff was great, Peppermint was awesome. I still had fun even though I’ve played Courtyard twice which made it a bit easier.
Twisted MatrixMaze Rooms - VermontEscape roomIRLOverall we had a good time. Some of the dialogue was hard to hear which made the plot a tad confusing. A puzzle in the last room got frustrating because we had to do it over and over again until I did something that seemed sort of like “cheating”, but I’m still not sure. My biggest issue with this room was the excessive use of generative AI. It was disappointing. All the artwork had that AI style to it and all the videos clearly came from Sora or whatever other generator there is now. Most of it wasn’t even necessary. I have a feeling the creator of this game would argue that it fits within the plot. I don’t agree. It was decorative and often could’ve just been excluded if they didn’t want to hire an actor or animator. As an artist myself, it’s hard to support the use of this. I’ve been to so many rooms that have videos with real people in them and not generated by someone on their computer. So my assumption is that they saved all this money by using this software yet they’re charging the same. I would rather my money go to real artists. This game was cool but that left a bad taste in my mouth.
Cold CaseCloud EscapeEscape roomIRLI really enjoyed how this was scary but not to the point of making me completely anxious the entire experience. I was still able to focus on the puzzles despite being a bit spooked! But the times they did get me, they got me real good lol. Joseph was great! He nudged us in the right direction when he knew we were close or that we maybe missed something but didn’t over step. I do recommend maybe 3-4 people max personally, I could see it getting cramped in there. 2 was good for us! They’re also generous with discount codes for later visits! Highly recommend
An Office EscapeCinema Escape Rooms - Los AlamitosEscape roomIRLThe GM was super friendly and welcoming. This room is sooo funny if you know the show. I could imagine bringing someone who’s never seen it and they would be incredibly confused by everything that goes on in there, lol. This game felt very daunting at the beginning but once we got the first puzzle figured out, it unfolded very nicely. This would be good for newbies that are also Office fans!
Atlantis: The Forgotten CityHypnotic Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLSuper fun! Gorgeous set, it’s impressive it still looks this good for how long it’s been around. Owner was super nice!
13th BasementExit Game OC - AnaheimEscape roomIRLThis was soooo fun. Several puzzles had me cracking up as an escape room enthusiast! We didn’t need any hints but I think that just means the puzzles truly make sense and there’s no leaps of logic required to put it all together. I think I had a big smile on my face the whole game. Thanks Christine and Jeremiah!!
Something's Out There!Maze Rooms - West LAEscape roomIRLThe set design of this room was the best part. Really fun spooky moments. Some of the puzzles didn’t make sense to me in relation to the plot and one puzzle was broken. Regardless this was a very impressive room for being in a little strip mall/plaza
Dr. Chadd O ' Nay Goes Mad! - CLOSEDThe Great EscapeEscape roomIRLThis was a very basic gen 1 escape room. This would’ve been impressive 10 years ago, but the rooms you can find nowadays will make this one feel like it’s homemade
Time Machine60Out - KoreatownEscape roomIRLThis is an old, worn room and you can tell. It was fun and all but I think they should replace it with something newer.
Whatever Happened To The Garretts?Maze Rooms - West LAEscape roomIRLThis game will surprise you. Amazing sets
Wrongfully ConvictedThe Escape RevolutionEscape roomIRLAwesome GM team. The settings of these rooms are A+. They do a great job of tricking you into unexpected situations. It wasn’t too difficult. Most of the times we just needed a nudge because we were missing something obvious
