The Escape - CLOSEDThe Unlockables - San DiegoEscape roomIRLDefinitely a recommended room. Really the larger your group (would say have 6-8 players), probably the more that’ll get done. I loved the variety that this experience provided and how intricate the plot was. Puzzles were clever and there weren’t too many for one space. The plot got a little funky, but we rolled with it! If you have a large enough crew, definitely go for it and try to solve the mystery!
Sister's Secret - CLOSEDThe Unlockables - San DiegoEscape roomIRLA tough, spooky room! We had a good sized group getting into this mess and it was so much fun! The staff was attentive and on top of things. The set design was creepy and well put together. For a multilinear room, this peaked. It was tough at times with so many moving parts and I definitely would recommend having a large group put together. It had some great theater involved and I really enjoyed that they delivered on what they promised! Definitely recommend
Prison BreakThe Escape Game - IrvineEscape roomIRLThe set design was fun, the puzzles were well thought out, and the staff were kind. Definitely recommend having a team of 6 to play this due to the puzzle concentration and teamwork needed to get through this! The staff was kind and we loved the high spirits everyone was in. Props on the immersion as well!
ClueBreakout Games - BirminghamEscape roomIRLEasily the coolest and most fun game so far with this company! I was hyped on it for a while and the opportunity came and we did it! Lots of running around and exploring and looking at random things! We loved the interactivity and variety given throughout. Need to be cunning and things aren’t always what they seem. If you can make it to a location to play this out, GO DO IT
Special Ops: Mysterious MarketThe Escape Game - IrvineEscape roomIRLHands down one of my favorite games! If you can turn me into a super-spy and let me save the world, I’m there! I loved that the beginning felt like a “normal” spy-type room, then, BAM! You are a spy! Loved the set design, the music was a little cheesy, but the puzzle flow was awesome! Definitely recommend!
Witch's CauldronQuest TavernEscape roomIRLThis room was pretty fun! We enjoyed ourselves with the variety of offerings this game provided. The beginning was a little ominous and spooky! The game play was nice and flowed well. Not the most difficult room, so it was fine for our group of 3. I can’t imagine having more than 4 players in there though.
Elevate: SkyloungeWild Goose Escapes - IrvineEscape roomIRLReally enjoyed this room! It was clean looking, the flow was awesome, and allowed for a fun, multi-linear experience for us! We did it with a team of 4 and had a great time! We goofed around and found that each challenge was well done. I do recommend!
Resident Alpha [prev. CSI Lab] - CLOSEDThe Unlockables - Kearny MesaEscape roomIRLThis was a fun experience. We played with a team of 4 and barely escaped! The puzzles were well hidden and layered. I’m not a big fan of the whole zombie theming, however they did a good job making it more about the cure than the actual zombies. Staff was pleasant and the owner was very kind. If in the San Diego area, be sure to stop in!
Loot Wars: The HarvestKing's Eye EscapeEscape roomIRLThis was a cool concept of a room! We did it with 2 and had a blast role playing in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. I recommend about 4 players. Some standard locks throughout, but a great experience and quite the thrill!
The A.I. - CLOSEDThe Exit Game - San DiegoEscape roomIRLI’m going to give this room a “meh” in rating. We had a group of 5 and we BLEW through this room. In the first 19min, we reached “hard mode” and still got out with over 20min left on the clock. Not saying this room was bad by any means. There was definitely a puzzle in there that was probably one of the coolest integrated technology puzzles I’ve seen. Very creative and very fun to interact with. The room was easy though, so I may suggest a smaller group for this one.
Escape The 90'sThe Quandary Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLA wave of nostalgia in this one! My team mate and I were blasting out our lungs to the 90s tracks played in this one! The environment was great and perfect for the theme. I love that it wasn’t a typical themed room. There was definitely variety and some of the puzzles proved a little tricky. Although recommended for a team of 4, we did escape with 2. I really recommend you play this with 4 though! The hint system gets a special shoutout as well for being super clever!
The Lab 51 - Version 2 - CLOSEDThe Exit Game - San DiegoEscape roomIRLThe game itself was pretty well done. Overall, I really enjoy the set designs at Exit Game, so I wasn’t surprised at all by what I saw (in the good way). This is great for a group of about 4, though some physicality is needed. Fun room on an overdone trope!
Lab Of The LostThe Quandary Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLWe were so close to finishing this one! Quite literally 2 puzzles away. We did this with a team of 2 and it was pretty tough! The puzzle variety was fun and well thought out. There is a maintenance system in place throughout your game and it’s so clever! Physicality is needed in some parts, so be ready. It was a little heavy in puzzle density, however it was still enjoyable. I recommend a group of 4-5 play this and it’ll work out just fine! If in the Chicago area, check this out!
The Parlour - CLOSEDThe PuzzalariumEscape roomIRLExtremely difficult but probably one of the most unique and fun escape rooms I have ever done! Definitely made my top 3 list! The fact that this was a room with a currency type system was unique and the GM definitely played the character needed. We barely escaped in our group of 3, but it was pretty awesome. I do wish this was still open and available for others to experience!
The Villain's Lair - CLOSEDThe Exit Game - San DiegoEscape roomIRLHands down my favorite game at this location. I’ve never had an escape room challenge me and make me laugh so hard at the same time. THe intro video was extra special and my best friend and I still quote it to this day! This was ALMOST impossible with two people, almost, but we still succeeded and raked in the victory! Definitely say that you need a team of at least 4-6 people to be able to go through this pretty successfully. One area was especially difficult for just the 2 of us. If you were going to play just one room here with your team, I highly recommend this one.
Sherlock's Haunted Escape - CLOSEDExodus Escape Room - IrvineEscape roomIRLDid this with a team of 2 and it was pretty good. Most of the puzzles made sense and the room was decently spooky (not creepy!) which was hopefully what they were going for! Most of it was clever, though we had some issues with a couple of their puzzles because they weren’t really practical and it was pretty dark. However, we did still enjoy ourselves!
Amityville60Out - Silver LakeEscape roomIRLThis room had a good bit of spooky in it. Although this wasn’t exactly my favorite, I do give them credit on creating a growing, scary atmosphere. This room is meant to be dark, but there’s also a point where dark can be too dark. I don’t mean in theming, in environment. The given starter lights still made things a little too difficult in the beginning. I did like the progression of the story and the spooks built in. I think this is just fine for a group of 2-4
The Informant - CLOSEDThe Unlockables - San DiegoEscape roomIRLA fun game and definitely simpler for the experienced player. Did it with 3 and we did escape! I do recommend you think through your choices before going too far with the puzzles!
The Initiation - CLOSEDNerdy by Nature Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis room was average. I don’t mind Gen1/low tech rooms if done well and this one was alright. The props were a little tacky, however the unexpected twist was fun. Some of the puzzles were clever and well put, hidden in plain sight. Some of the mechanics were a little sticky and close to needing to be replaced, but overall it was enjoyable. Some people have said it was good for a large group, however, my friend and I played it and escaped just fine with the two of us.
School of Sorcery Chapter 2 Return to the Unspeakable - CLOSEDThe Exit Game - San DiegoEscape roomIRLNot exactly my favorite theming, this room was still fun. THe GM when we played (team of 2) was well engaged and gave us help on one of the puzzles. Not because we were really stumped, but we were told the tech was a little finicky. The game overall was done decently, though the ending was tricky for 2 of us, but we made it work. Not a bad room overall!
