66 escape rooms
Earth is becoming uninhabitable, so humanity has launched a mission into space to find a new planet to settle on. Aboard the Galactic Pioneer, the crew is kept in cryosleep as the ship travels through the galaxy. Something goes wrong along the way, however, and the crew is awakened ahead of schedule. Now it is up to you to repair the spaceship and get the mission back on course so that you can reach the correct planet. The room is large and very well designed, with the overall design being one of its clear highlights. Everything fits well with the spaceship theme, and the many electronic elements help create a convincing setting. MindMaze describes the room as a fully computer-controlled environment with more than 400 sensors, buttons and screens, and you can certainly feel that throughout the experience. We played as a group of six, and although there is plenty of space in the room itself, we still found ourselves getting quite crowded together at times. There were therefore a few situations where some of the overview was lost in the chaos. This does not change the fact that the room itself is large and impressively designed. One minor detail that detracted slightly from the experience was the vests provided for the players, which had clearly seen better days and were somewhat worn. The room is multilinear, although the first part of the game is more focused on working together. Later on, there are opportunities to work on different tasks simultaneously, which works well with a larger group. There are many different types of puzzles, so there is something to suit different ways of thinking, and you don't necessarily have to be the same type of player to contribute. One of the larger tasks in the room involves finding the correct planet. It is a multi-layered challenge that takes quite some time to work through. It works well as a larger, ongoing challenge and gives you something to return to while working on other parts of the room. Galactic Pioneers is a fourth-generation room, where almost everything is electronic. This fits the theme very well and feels much more natural aboard a spaceship than a large number of traditional padlocks and key locks would. The electronic mechanisms help support the illusion that you are actually aboard a spaceship. The ending is also worth highlighting. The final task involves several of the players and works well as a shared conclusion to the mission. It gives you a nice feeling that the whole team has contributed to bringing the mission to a successful end. There is nothing scary about the room, with the focus instead being on the science fiction theme and the mission itself. Overall, Galactic Pioneers is a well-designed and technologically impressive escape room where the setting and mechanisms work very well together. The difficulty level is not particularly high, but the larger task of finding the correct planet adds some depth and takes time to work through. Combined with the impressive design and the many electronic elements, this makes for an entertaining science fiction experience. Difficulty 🌰🌰🌰 Design 🌰🌰🌰🌰🌰 Scare factor Entertainment vs. price 🌰🌰🌰🌰
