Of the 5 games we played at North Valley (Fall Mountain, Steampunk Railway, Big Top, Shafted, Alcatraz), this was my favorite. Amusing actor interaction, a convincing set, and a good finale are always good things.
My biggest issue with the game was pacing and red herrings. The beginning of the game was very slow, though this was partly made up for by the actor interaction (and to be fair, was largely our fault for missing something obvious). The early midgame was also very slow because we kept focusing on something that turned out to never be used - I would have preferred if it was just removed, though the game is probably pretty set by now. The end of the game felt rushed - we were crunched for time.
Scruffy was funny and memorable.
I would have preferred the GM nudge us to smooth out pacing - we wasted a lot of time early and were rushed late, and nudges to make this more consistent would have been appreciated.
3 enthusiasts felt fine, 4 might be better. It's more a lack of signposting than puzzles being difficult.
