Going into this room, we’d heard a lot of hype regarding its high level of difficulty. It’s definitely a challenging room, and probably not for beginners, but we didn’t find it to be as difficult as we’d heard. Tbh we thought “Cutthroat” was a harder room. Anyways, don’t let the hype dissuade you from experiencing this incredible room! I think Tomb of Anubis had my favorite puzzles out of all the rooms at 13th Gate, requiring many different skill sets, from pattern recognition, to searching, to decryption. A couple of the puzzles even had callbacks to themselves later in the game, giving them a uniquely enjoyable depth. Something else I really enjoyed was the inclusion of a leatherbound “run book” that acted as a user manual for all the puzzles throughout the experience. I sometimes struggle with figuring out where to begin, when presented with a slew of puzzles, items, and data. The run book really helped as a reference guide, I wish more rooms would do this! My only criticism is of the unnecessarily complicated flashlights they gave us. They changed color from time to time, but didn’t really contribute to the experience. They were a subtly confusing boondoggle that we didn’t need.
