265 escape rooms
Having now played Red Creek Asylum and closing out all the rooms at Extreme Escape it pains me to say that this was the weakest of the bunch. A promising, spooky idea on paper the execution didn’t really land with me as the puzzles (while multilinear) felt muddled with our objective becoming increasingly obscure as we navigated through a series of underwhelming solves. While some were straightforward, others contained strange leaps in logic that felt really inconsistent from the story the room was trying to tell. Marketed as a high tech room we found it difficult to get a lot of these puzzles to work/trigger correctly upon the first attempt, hearing vague electronic beeps with seemingly nothing opening and changing around us, it become pretty laborious around the half hour mark. Set dressing felt varied with some cool props to play around with balanced out with some real lazy and vaguely “medical” bits and pieces thrown in. Standard. Overall just didn’t evoke joy and you’re better off spending your money on Darkness Falls at their other venue in Richmond.
