A Wizards Quest

Great experience! Super friendly staff & GM! Would recommend for groups of beginners or moderately experienced duos. Will definitely appeal to those who love wizardry!

We got cocky. We had been on a The Great Escape run. We'd played all of their other rooms. We were feeling pretty good about ourselves. And we did A Wizards Quest with the "monthly record" in our eyes. The escape room gods saw our hubris and brought us back down to earth. Glad we did the room, and much like all of the spaces at The Great Escape in Bendigo, you can see the care and work that's gone into creating it. This was our least favourite escape of all the ones we did (and not just because we fell on our faces) but it didn't quite pop in the same way as the others, it felt a little samey. It doesn't help that it is yet another "wizards & whatnot" theme, and while it isn't the room's fault that we've seen this theme before, there still wasn't anything that really separated it from the other magic wand based experiences out there.

Merlin’s beard! The Warlock Greg is back at it again! After a quick ponder of the orb I’ve concluded I had a fun time with this one. Spells, books, potions, HAT. What more could a budding young wizard ask for? I love being given a specific little trinket and with our group of 4 we lucked out on one wand each, super ideal. It’s a shame the tech was a bit fiddly in a couple of the props cause otherwise the flow was quite good. Less ideal. One of the better uses of the Harry Potter-esque Wizard rooms I’ve played, it didn’t fall into the trap of leaning heavily on this IP to run the game. An entertaining quest and one I would implore you to partake in.

Definitely one of the strongest wizarding outings I’ve experienced over the years, also pretty rapt this one didn’t completely lean on Harry Potter for its narrative and inspiration. We did have some difficulty getting a couple of the tech in the wands to work but it honestly didn’t matter as once everything was up and running the flow of puzzles was excellent and we proceeded without any issues. All of the rooms at The Great Escape Bendigo are of a moderate size but are all used in a super creative way to maximise content and exploration. A truly original and charming venue all round. 7.5/10 🔏🧩
