Good set, good puzzles and effects. Of Rabbit Hole's games, I thought this room did the best at telling a story, with a series of clear and interesting/natural goals and puzzles that obviously related to those goals. There were a bunch of combination locks - even though they made sense in the context of the setting, it would have been cooler to have more customized interactions. Maybe I was spoiled by Rabbit Hole's other games. I'm amazed at the condition of all of Rabbit Hole's rooms - despite being ~6 years old, I could easily have believed it was a new build; everything felt like it was in great condition. Apparently the staff is vigilant for signs of wear and is very proactive about fixing things - other owners, please take note. If you have time (perhaps after the game), it's worth at least skimming the procedures manual. Someone had fun writing it.

Story

A lot of escape room puzzles don't really make sense when you think about them - they're just riffs on the setting, using them as inspiration. Some games, including this one, make the puzzles more integrated with their story, where players have a sensible goal, and it's obvious how solving puzzles actually relates to and advances the story.

Very well themed (as Rabbit Hole always is). On the easier side of their rooms but we still really enjoyed it. A few physical locks but unique ways to get the combinations. Otherwise most puzzles were fairly high tech and novel. As another reviewer said, the hardest part mentally for me was trying to gauge how far along we were and what we had left. I still felt like we had much more to do when we completed the mission and returned to the surface. Note, we were told afterwards that you can request a notepad but are not given one by default.

What an odd experience. The set design was awesome and fully immersive. The room seemed to be a linear room where you could see all of the puzzles. This had us working on things that we didn’t actually have enough info to solve and scattered throughout the whole experience. It isn’t fun when you have to be pushed clues to make any kind of progress.

This is one of those rare rooms where we didn’t escape… and I still have no problem giving it high marks. Right from the start, the immersion is strong. The arctic base setting feels detailed and believable, and it pulls you in immediately. From there, it doesn’t let up. This is a tough room with layered puzzles and a lot to keep track of. There’s a heavy focus on searching and connecting multiple things at once, which can get overwhelming fast. We ran it as a team of two and definitely felt outmatched. We’ve done a lot of rooms together and usually hold our own, but this one really pushed us. There’s just so much going on that having more people to split up tasks and think through puzzles would make a big difference. That said, the puzzles we did get through were really well designed and satisfying to solve. You can tell a lot of thought went into how everything ties together. We didn’t make it out in time, but the experience still felt worth it. Huge credit to the GM Conner for walking us through the remaining puzzles and letting us see how it all ends. That made a big difference and gave us some closure instead of just walking out wondering what we missed.

Good escape room. Lots of multi step puzzles. A little easier than I would have preferred, the main difficulty was knowing the main objective and judging if we were behind or ahead of schedule.

Beautifully decorated, the best of a disease/break theme I've seen seen. We were a little unsure when the timer actually begins because the first few and last few minutes are more a part of the storyline where it's not possible to do anything. It's possible to do a couple of the elements out of what is probably the intended order, which works, but it left us not necessarily needing a few clues. This room physically requires at least two people, but four or 5 might be ideal for putting heads together on some of the codes and sequences. It's easy to miss some pieces though, possibly moreso if you have a larger group and trust that someone else looked at a space or item thoroughly. Very minimal lock and key, not especially linear except in a couple situations.

The story in this room is that we traveled to an underground Arctic research station, where a malfunction had caused an ice core sample to begin to melt. If we do not remedy the malfunction, the ice sample will remedy a deadly virus. The way we entered this room felt magical and immersive. World building was excellent and the set actually added to the target objectives. At one point, our friend thought we broke something and it ended up being a puzzle interaction. There were fun red herrings that make you chuckle and the buildup to the climax felt urgent and satisfying. A group of four is recommended but I could also see 1-2 experienced players making it through this room just as easily.
