Game Of The Dragon

THE MAESTERS CALL AND I ANSWER. A genuinely fun room and probably my favourite so far at this venue. The room has a great feel with the sheer amount of WOOD, very medieval, very cool! The puzzles are mostly intuitive with a mix of logic and tactile puzzles. Something for everyone I would say. A couple of pretty evil skill based puzzles including the very first thing in the room. Nothing we struggled too heavily with but I can imagine it would eat up a lot of people’s time. Ean was an absolute jet juggling running three rooms at a time including one who were late. We were greeted with enthusiasm and appreciated the time taken to answer our questions. Probably the best Rush room I’ve played in terms of cohesion. Well rounded and feels well polished. Huzzah.

Being one of the highest rated rooms at Rush I was pretty excited to finally play Game of the Dragon, once it was over I had some mixed feelings but it was still overall a solid game. Really strong set dressing and design, the large space is utilised well with a mountain of multi-linear puzzles all of which were fun, interactive and on-theme within the medieval world around us. With a healthy mix of locks, keys and tech, the puzzle flow was interesting but didn’t really incorporate anything that I would consider out of the box. After happily completing about 2/3 of the content in the first area, it was unfortunately the smaller second room that let the whole thing down. A huge assortment of props covered in writings, symbols and unique features served as nothing more than red herrings which needlessly detracted us from an experience that was already stacked with puzzles. Not to mention lugging 15-odd wooden planks around only to spend 10 minutes on hands and knees, awkwardly assembling them on the ground. I’m an old man, Rush pls don’t do this to my poor knees. The whole final act felt like a strange, rushed afterthought and could definitely use a rework. Having said that, Game of the Dragon does have a lot of potential to be an amazing room from start to finish! Jack our GM is the messiah.

This room was different to other escape rooms I have encountered as we started in a room filled with lots of different puzzles - some of which may have been developed in medieval times. Initially, I didn’t know where to start until I realized I could start anywhere. I enjoyed the variety of puzzles & the satisfaction that came with solving each one. This was a challenging but satisfying room.

We had a great time with this room! As a two person team, we were definitely under the pump for completion but we got through. Our GM, Cal, was amazing at world building before we got into the room and was great to talk with afterwards. Definitely beginner friendly, but will also challenge experienced players. Cannot recommend enough
