Dr. Gem’s Time Trap

My husband and I did a weekend trip and did all six rooms! These are all amazing rooms that you must do if you get the chance. Bring a team of four. There is so much to see and do that even if you could do it with a smaller team you'll want to be able to have the opportunity to take it all in. The staff was super nice in that they let us complete all of the rooms even though our time had run out on 5 of the 6 rooms. They aren't very chatty but I chalk that up to the amount of reset they need to do after a team works their way through the game. The sets are next level and are some of the best I have come across. Every detail is thought out to such an amazing degree. Kudos to the set team who designed the sets. The puzzles are beyond excellent! The flow was exceptional in every room! After doing 100+ escape rooms, this is a theme that is still very unique to us. There were lots of satisfying gen 3 puzzles, as well as some fun surprises. Some physical puzzles that we had never seen before!

A very well designed room with lots of unique puzzles. We did this with four adults and four kids, and escaped with 7 minutes left to go. We only needed a hint for one puzzle otherwise the puzzles were cohesive, and everyone enjoyed it highly.

A good room that made sense. Good progression in clues but I would suggest 3-4 people to make it out in time. No prior knowledge needed.

Initially I thought this game would be overwhelming, but it turned out to be great fun instead. What I appreciated the most about this room was how cohesively every puzzle tied in with the storyline. In a time travel themed room, one is never really sure how that element of time travel will be presented. And Maine Escape Games did it brilliantly. The room was high-tech and to my delight everything worked the way it was supposed to. We were a team of 2 who managed to get out in just over an hour. We appreciated the game master gave us those few extra minutes to complete our mission. However, I do not appreciate their weekend pricing structure for 2 players. Still highly recommended.

Very good room. Well done and fun. A lot to do for 2 people. 70 minutes seems more appropriate. If you do it with 2 you will need to be pretty quick on all the puzzles to get out in time.

1st time visiting Maine Escape Games and Dr. Gem’s Time Trap was a great experience. The theme is a typical time traveling story, but sets, technology, and immersion was extraordinary. Only 3 traditional locks and a lot of technology in all rooms. You really needed to be observant in all of the rooms as clues are there for you to complete everything. Some memorable puzzles include a math-related puzzle, a mixture puzzle, and a teamwork related puzzle. A time related puzzle even added some additional stress on you to complete timely. Almost every puzzle you solved had something open automatically and there were some very cool reveals with some, but all reveals were satisfying. Room can be viewed as non-linear, but our group of 3 worked together almost the entire game, and it seemed linear for us on what we wanted to complete next. There is a lot to do so you need to stay focused and have some urgency in the last room especially, as a certain puzzle will take a few minutes to complete. Overall, MEG’s customer service was great. Our GM (Erica) was fun to talk with before and after, and gave us a few nudges at perfect times to ensure we knew what to work on next (exactly what we asked her to do before we started). Overall, a super fun room and a fantastic experience at MEG. MEG is a very good ER company and I look forward to playing another room when we are in the area again.

One of the best rooms we’ve ever done. Very well designed and executed. Some of the props were well loved but everything worked flawlessly. Highly recommend!
