“This is a fun and remarkably immersive room. It's hard to transplant you back in the times of the revolution, but this room does it's best and I think it was well done. Theming was great, puzzles were fun, and the story worked well. We've done 3 of the 4 rooms at this location, and they were all very enjoyable.”

“We had a ball (literally) at the Playground escape room! The Playground room at The Escape Game is perfect for adults looking for a challenge. Despite the school theme, the puzzles are complex, high tech and require teamwork. We had a family of five, that we didn't know, join us in the room. The kids were especially helpful - the teenager immediately started in on a math puzzle, and the tween noticed some stuff in lower places where the adults hadn't looked. This room was tough and had LOTS to do, and without those additional people not sure if the two of us could have gotten out in time. Above and beyond customer service from the manager working the front desk. We mentioned we had done two rooms in another one of their locations, and she presented us with a The Escape Game Passport. We’ve subsequently carried it with us to another of their locations, and have used it to plan some future escape room centric vacations. Note that The Escape Game offers buy 3 get one free sales a few times a year around holidays, so if you're planning on doing multiple rooms or having multiple players in the future, it's worth trying to catch a sale from them.”

“This place has really well designed rooms and this prison break room is different from others we've done! Definitely recommend even if you've done other prison escape rooms. The staff here is also terrific!”

“Gorgeous reproductions by Degas, Renoir, van Gogh, and Seurat. But you're allowed - and encouraged - to run your hands all over them, tug on their frames, and even try to steal a painting! The Heist escape room boasts an impressive recreation of a museum, complete with high-tech puzzles that seamlessly blend into the environment. Teamwork is key, as the initial puzzles require a linear approach and can be challenging. With the help of the friendly game master, we managed to escape just in time. “This is one of the first escape rooms we did that we realized, "Wow. This is what excellence is like." Theming and execution of this room was fantastic. Each room you walk or 'otherwise enter' in this game immerses you completely. The games are so fun and different. The puzzles are difficult but don't take any of the fun away. Such a cool room, and still one of our all time favorites.”

“This diner escape room had me jivin' and wailin' – it's easily cruised into my top 5 after hittin' 22 rooms! Really enjoyed the unique puzzles, especially all the physical objects needed to move into places. The whole set-up looked like it hopped straight outta a 50s flick. Sure, it wasn't the toughest joint in town, but that just meant more time to have a blast! Our gamesmaster was a real doll – super friendly and even took us through the whole game after we busted out. Ditch The Big Mall and head over here, cats! You won't regret it!”

“Story: 8/10 Theming: 10/10 Puzzle Difficulty: 9/10 Bathroom: 9/10 This room had great theming. Very impressive and immersive. It's the best speakeasy themed room we've done. This room manages to incorporate small elements that really make the room impressive, from lighting to props, etc. The puzzles are decently thought provoking and aren't straightforward. We had a really great time in this room, and not just because we set the new record!”

“this is a great room for beginners and young children. we did this room because we were on a time crunch but really wanted to do a second room, and my friends and i are on a mission to complete all the rooms here so we said why not do this one. each puzzle has a hint as to what information you need in order to solve that puzzle. for a beginner or a young kid, that would help out a lot. it made the room super easy for us - 4 mid-experienced teens - but i honestly appreciated the built-in hints.”

“if you’re going to be in Philadelphia, this is the room that you want to do. First off, I don't know if another game set in a boxing gym. Think Stranger Things: the 1980s vibe with some "unusual" things happening after someone stole an artifact. Bring your friends and your thinking caps and you might make it out!”

“This room was very well themed and really made me feel like I was back in 1776! My only gripe for this room is that some of the puzzles did not make sense on knowing that you were supposed to use that for the certain thing that you were trying to open, I wish that it was a little more clear, but it was overall a great room!”

“I loved the neon lights. The overall space could be considered small for more than 3 but with only 3 people, harder to solve too. The puzzles are reasonably cohesive but naturally different enough from each other. There is only so much space they can work with in this facility. So that is a factor too. But it is convenient within the city too.”

Famously known as The City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia is a vibrant city full of culture, history, amazing cuisine, and some of the best escape rooms in the country. Serving as the first capital of the US, Philadelphia is defined by its colonial heritage sites, and offers visitors of all stripes and near endless well of attractions to discover. There’s, of course, the Liberty Bell, which originally hung atop Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed. If a more modern diversion is more to your liking, then consider stopping by Citizens Bank Park to catch a Philadelphia Phillies baseball game. And when you’re ready to re-fuel, a visit to Reading Terminal Market will be sure to satisfy your greatest hunger and thirst. Just be sure to save some room in the trip for some of the region’s best escape rooms.
Though sometimes overshadowed by nearby Manhattan, Philadelphia has emerged as a destination for escape room lovers. Since the first escape rooms arrived in Philly, the home of the country’s first library, zoo, and hospital, hasn’t stopped crafting these immersive puzzle experiences. In fact, greater Philadelphia is home to over 20 different escape room venues with downtown Philly standing out as the epicenter of activity. The Midnighters at Olde City Escape Games is a unique game love by experienced and newer players alike. The Egyptian Tomb: Imhotep’s Curse at Escape Room Mystery Cherry Hill is a wonderful take on the popular archeology theme that seamlessly intertwines puzzles into the story. Think Solve Escape’s The Cellar is an award-winning room that is sure to delight. With over 100 escape games in the entire area, the possibilities are nearly endless — you’ll find games with themes of horror, adventure, crime, espionage, and plenty you may not expect.
Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
