“Some really imaginative puzzles in this space! This room hits a nice balance - if you're a family or new to escape rooms, this room is not too challenging. However, if you're a puzzle person, the bonus puzzles were especially tricky (even for me). Really clever room, and great set-dressing, too.”

“I loved this room! The room flow was perfect and the puzzles all worked well together and fit the theme. I have done a few magic rooms and this one really felt MAGICAL! The puzzles were not overly complicated with a good mix of tech and locks. We only got hung up once because we were not looking close enough. Great Room!”

“I really loved this room. The design and story were so unique. There were a few puzzles I felt didn’t flow but overall the game flow was nice. We were led astray by our GM for 5 minutes before they realized they had given us the wrong hint for where we were in the game. That was frustrating but overall I really enjoyed how unique this room was.”

“I really enjoyed this room. The set was solid and got better as you went along with a really cool finishing area. I was quick to sacrifice others in the group for the spooky moments, I am glad they were up for it. They probably could have gone full-blown horror if they wanted, but they kept it to a reasonable scare level. The puzzling was fun and even began before you stepped inside the room. How cool! Our group escaped and survived. The biggest drawback was that the walls were thin so there was some noise from the outside, but if that's the worst thing about a room you know you got a gem. Give this room a go, it is a lot of fun :)”

“I really enjoyed this room. The theme was unique and the puzzles flowed very well. Our group only needed one nudge and we were able to escape with lots of time left. I would say this room is on the easy to medium side. Throughly enjoyed it!”

“A blast! As others have said, Not your typical escape room. Basically a “get out before the bomb explodes (literally)” challenge. Multiple rooms, where each room has either a physical or mental challenge/task that requires full teamwork. Really a great time and my group felt it was great to try a unique take on an “escape room.””

“One of my favorites by this group! I love 2nd gen puzzles and this had plenty. It was linear and we felt like it was suitable for 2 players but you wouldn't want more than 4. Overall great gameplay & story!”

“This game was the best execution of a prison themed game I’ve seen so far. It has interesting communication puzzles, a handful of dexterity challenges, really everything you’d want to see from a game like this.”

“Played with a group of 3, joined by 4 strangers. It played well with a large group, as there was lots of do. The theming was the most immersive I’ve seen in DC yet and the rooms very exciting. Good number of puzzles with fun/unique elements to them. Not overly linear. The ending was particularly well-structured to end on a crescendo. Best production value I’ve seen in DC so far.”

“Might be my favourite room in DC! (Or maybe second favourite after The Depths?) My team of three escaped and had a blast. The set is thoughtful and in good condition. It took us a little bit to get some momentum going, but the pieces fit together logically and creatively, with a mix of difficulties. Not too linear, which is nice in a group— we could work in parallel. Every puzzle felt well rewarded, and everything worked as it is supposed to. The pre-game rules video is absolutely the cringiest one I’ve seen in a very cringy genre, though. Well worth the drive from DC proper!”

“I appreciated that there were multiple rooms, and each room featured puzzles that were mostly independent from each other, with a few instances of overlap/interactivity. Felt that the mechanics were pretty good!”

“Recommend this room. Great theming and some really rewarding puzzles. A couple were pretty challenging and we needed hints. Plenty to do for 4 people. Would love to go back and try some of their other rooms. Beautiful space and creative gameplay.”

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
