“This room was done at the original location. (I promise to this review it when I do their new game at the new location and can find out how much they changed.) amazing, just amazing. First off, the size. The original location was located in a warehouse and they made sure to use the entire space. You know you are in for something special, when you show up and they tell you to go back to your car, turn on the radio to a specific station and stay tuned. The set designs were gorgeous and the puzzling was great. As I said, spacious, so we actually found ourselves running down the floors on multiple levels! What an experience! They have since changed locations and I’m curious to do this room again, in part, just to re-experience it even if nothing was changed”

“This was a very good room that easily exceeded my expectations. It had a little wear and tear but the GM told us they were actually replacing the room with a new one next year. We will definitely be back to try whatever room replaces this!”

“Favorite room here! Flowed well, the theme was unique and the room was well decorated/designed. There was a puzzle or two that required some “nudges”, which for enthusiasts can be frustrating if you can’t get through the room without help, but overall very enjoyable and challenging. Would definitely recommend!”

“Enjoyed the room! Yes it had a creepy factor but not so much that it was unenjoyable or too scary to play. I think more than 4ish would be a little cramped but we had three and a very comfortable play.”

“Felt like a well designed room. Second room/site I’ve done of the Escape Room Pittsburgh and both of the rooms I’ve done with them so far seem to do a great job of some local callouts that you don’t get to see as much in chain escape room companies. In terms of the puzzle, nice semi linear puzzle with a nice variety of puzzle types including a couple red herrings (with bonus points to details that acknowledge as much in a way) found it easy for my team of four to rotate around a bit working as partners helping keep track of the details that while not always needed to solve a puzzle, can make it a bit easier to solve and helped us finish the room without any hints.”

“Large spacious room that did a great job of tying into a local theme and the aesthetics a repurposed bank vault. Game master was attentive and gave a couple welcomed nudges. Really appreciated some of the mechanisms used including almost no key/combination locks so puzzles were a bit more intellectual puzzle solving.”

“While not the most challenging room I’ve been in, the full immersion aspect is on point, and I had already left comments complementing Escape Room Pittsburghs aesthetic designs for Diamond Heist and Carnegie’s Millions. Subway Escape goes above and beyond from the well produced introduction video to a special effect that I haven’t seen in an escape room before, and that as a theatre tech absolutely love since I didn’t expect the effect and had to look around a bit to see the mechanism that did it. For some it’ll be like magic. In terms of puzzles, as mentioned, not the hardest to solve but enough to allow some non linear team work and parallel problem solving but some added difficulty keeping track of past things seen and what has and hasn’t been used. There were a couple glitches to the room that the game master noted, and who was attentively enough to recognize that we had triggered the solution to one but have us a nudge to find what didn’t open like it should have. Sounds like the company is always doing some internal review to keep the rooms working well. Can’t wait to be back in Pittsburgh and be able to try the last of their rooms!”

Often referred to as The Steel City due to the iconic industry that took route here during the 20th century, Pittsburgh has far more to offer its visitors than perhaps meets the eye. This city is full of life, culture, amazing cuisine, and some amazing escape rooms that are certain to awe. On your next visit, considering touring the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, where you can experience magnificent vegetation throughout its 15-acre indoor and outdoor gardens. Or if flowers aren’t quite your thing, then perhaps baseball is; PNC Park is home to the Pittsburgh Pirates, one of the MLB’s most exciting teams. If you’re there with the family, then look no further than the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. No matter your taste, Pittsburgh has wonderful activities to offer, and some of the best escape rooms in the state.
Never to be outdone by its rival city of Philadelphia, Pittsburgh has established itself as an escape room destination. Since the first escape rooms arrived in the city, Pittsburgh has crafted some of the very best immersive puzzle experiences east of the Mississippi. In fact, greater Pittsburgh is home to over a dozen different escape room venues, and that number is sure to rise in the future. Subway Escape at Escape Room Pittsburgh is a favorite among even the most experienced of players. Create A Clone at Bold Escape Rooms wonderfully weaves its delightful puzzles into the story and set. Escape the Room Pittsburgh’s The Dig is an exciting game that is perfect for players who are a bit newer to the world of escape rooms. With over 30 escape games in the entire area, you’re sure to find the perfect game for you and your group.
Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
