“The set and production value are great. There were a few standout puzzles that I enjoyed, but the thing that made me smile more than anything was the surprise twist in the story. It was really well done. This room and the entire Nemesis experience is a must do if you’re in Phoenix.”

“Wow - 10 out of 10 for immersion and storytelling. The place itself is truly unique and high quality. The room was well thought out. If we actually thought more logically about what to do (instead of randomly) we would have done better. They really were telling a story. I can’t wait to do their second room.”

“A sprawling and detailed set played host to a variety of creative, tactile, and highly-interactive puzzles. From lasers to croquet to plates to axes to flowers, everything could be a puzzle, but nothing in the set felt like a red herring. One puzzle was deeply underclued, but most were fairly signposted and clearly solvable (though not without some puzzling). A few puzzles were multi-layered, though most were fairly direct. Keen observation and making observations between rooms at times is required. Go in with great communication, and be prepared for a good time!”

“Really enjoyed this game. Spooky, some tough puzzles. Moments where it can bottle neck but if you talk out loud things will connect. Puzzles that have large enough objectives that everyone can be involved. Not to scary. Probably the best game there.”

“FUN is what sums up this room. The set was really good (it can’t compare to Paragon and Nemesis in Phoenix, but what can?), the audio enhancement the gameplay, and lighting was used well in the space. The puzzles were outstanding. Often multi-tiered and thinly, but you always knew what you were supposed to be doing. We finished with a bit of time on the clock, which con some cases makes us feel that the room is too simple, but that wasn’t the case in this room. We genuinely had a blast! Highly recommended!”

“This is the best hiest game in all of Arizona! Yes I said that right. Highly immersive and flowed extremely well. The detail are spot on and very well executed. I have played many heist and they are a hit or miss and this one is definitely the best not just in Arizona, but in other states as well. Te puzzles are unique and never seen before. There is more to the room than what meets the eye. Highly recommended playing if you are in Phoenix. Both rooms are highly ranked and I can see why. Definitely worth playing both rooms!! Can’t wait for their third room to open.”

“The room was really cool!! There were a few aspects that I have never seen in any other room before. The customer service was great. We got to meet the owner and chat with him for a while. It was a great experience. We will absolutely be back.”

“From the vibrant set to the wacky intro/outro videos to the variety of whimsical, tactile puzzles, this was a delight. However, don't be fooled by the light-hearted theme: This room is a challenge and will kick your butt! It offers a lot of content, but it gives a clear progress station that shows how close you are. While the searching can be tedious, it's all very fair and clever. Bring a fast-moving team and be prepared for a joyous and highly-interactive experience!”

“Wow, wow, WOW! I have done about 140 escape rooms so far and EVERY detail about our experience here was amazing. To start, the extremely friendly and humble owner met us enthusiastically. We were then led to the in theme waiting room which had some complimentary drinks and comfortable seating. Then, the main event…The room was AWESOME! It had cool and unique puzzles and a fantastic theme. And it flowed extremely well to the point that everything we did made sense and it felt like we were actually completing the mission instead of trying to escape. The in game clue system is one of the best and most unique I’ve seen. I would recommend this room to beginners and enthusiasts alike. I honestly can not wait to come back and do the next room when it’s done!”

“We had a bad first experience with the terminal because of the axe throwing, we finally went back to do spellbound and it didn’t disappoint. Absolutely do an escape room when axe throwing isn’t happening if possible. GM was great, they definitely made up for our first experience”

There’s a reason why this part of the country is called the Valley of the Sun, few places in the US get more sun than this desert metropolis. But Phoenix and Glendale have a lot more to offer than just a nice tan, these closely related cities are a hotbed of culture, attractions, and some of the best escape rooms in the southwest. If visiting in the winter - something that is highly recommended - then consider catching a Cardinal’s football game at University of Phoenix Stadium. Or perhaps you might enjoy a family hike Papago Park? Whatever your interests may be, you’ve go to eat, and Chelsea’s Kitchen is an excellent option for any palette. Just be sure to save some room in the itinerary for some of the area’s best escape rooms - there’s a lot to experience, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself returning again and again.
Phoenix and Glendale have embraced the escape room community over the past few years, turning out some of the highest quality games in the region. Since the first escape rooms arrived in The Valley of the Sun, this oasis in the desert has fallen in love with these immersive experiences. In fact, greater Phoenix is now home to over 20 different escape room venues. Mad Hatter’s Tea Party at Eludesions Escape Rooms is a fantastical adventure suitable for all ages. Grim Stacks: Books & Binding at The Puzzle Effect seamlessly intertwines thought-provoking puzzles into its immersive theme and set design. Escape Westgate’s The Lost Tomb is a fresh take on the popular excavation motif. With dozens of escape games in the area, the possibilities are basically endless — you’ll find games with themes of horror, adventure, crime, espionage, and plenty you may not expect.
Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
