“The theming was great on this room, it even smelled like Christmas. I’ve never seen the movie but it was still enjoyable. The puzzles were a good level difficulty for groups of ~4 and were nonlinear. I really enjoyed the diversity of the puzzle types and they were all pretty intuitive. Sad that the room is closing”

“If you're a big Harry Potter fan, this escape room is for you! To get the most of this experience, you would have to lean in to your wizard and magical side. What I love about this escape room is the hands-on component. In terms of difficulty, this is on the medium side - you would just need to do some basic math but other than that, take your time and enjoy the immersion!”

“Fun room! Did it with two people and got out with 12 min and 54 seconds. The puzzles weren’t impossibly difficult, but there were alot of puzzles. For new people a larger group would be better! For experienced people two people is perfect”

“Ended up loving this room more than expected! Every single puzzle was entertaining and the theme enhanced the typical prison break room. We haven’t run into many non-linear rooms but this one just might be my favorite so far. We also had a great chat with one of the owners afterwards. Taylor is great!”

“ABSOLUTELY loved this room! Just goes to show you that low to mid budget rooms can compete with the top budget rooms when done right and with passion. This is prob the best I’ve seen such puzzles match the theme with such uniqueness. Also finally a room with nothing annoying lol- so smooth. One big thing to note is that we personally play for the wow moments in a room so if a room has one big wow moment then that’s a win, but this one had multiple that had us in the middle of the game saying - WHOA that was unexpected (and that’s playing over 50 games). this is a gen 1 game with low tech and it was amazing - this is our fav style so there’s that. Jay the GM was amazing too, felt like family and took the time. First room to give us a Polaroid on the spot, nice touch! Julie and Dom were on the phones too - great service! So yeah we’re playing their other room tomorrow lol - “game on arcade.” I was waiting to do reviews on morty till now - lol had to start with this one. This game should be rated “overwhelmingly positive” overall - go play it now!”

“What a fun experience! My group and I have done several rooms, but this was our first at UNLOCKED. Our GM Markus was fantastic and very welcoming (and a great artist)! The theme of this was one of the more unique ones I’ve seen and the puzzles fit well with the theme which I always appreciate. In terms of difficulty, this one was on the easier side compared to others I’ve done, but because of the experience as a whole I would 100% recommend it.”

“Fun themed room! With tactile puzzles that really make this a great experience. I really did feel like we were rummaging through a cabin in the woods, immersive, fun, the GM was also engaged and was very friendly. This is my second favorite room in The Escape Games, beginner friendly as well!”

“Really enjoy escape games rooms. They really make you feel immersed in the room that ur doing. Our group all loves this game and it was the second we did in the evening. We were like it’s a 9/10 so it’s going to be hard but all the puzzles just clicked and made sense. We got through all parts quickly and knew what needed to be done at each point. Had a few hints but not more than 4. The most frustrating thing was that there was a chess piece missing that was needed to solve a clue which threw us off as we could have escaped much sooner if we had that.”

“This room was very well done from the theme to the puzzles! It was a mix of mechanical and technical when it came to locks. I felt like I was back in grade school trying to solve problems in a classroom and going through the jungle gym. I went with a group total of 8 and I felt that it was a good number! Everyone in my group has done escape rooms before and together so it was a fairly easy room to do! The only downside to this company is that they don’t do private rooms. That being said we did unfortunately have people book the other spots by the time it was our reservation. However!! The staff that checked in the strangers offered them a different time slot at a different room and we ended up not having to do the room with strangers! I truly appreciated this as I was nervous about it not being private.”

“I've done about half of all The Escape Game rooms, and I think this is probably my favourite one in terms of theming. First room is very open where your group can split off and do their own things. The second room is a very stark contrast both in linearity and in one other facet that I can't say without spoiling.”

Irvine is bursting at the seams with amazing things to do. For the more outdoorsy types, Irvine sits just a short drive from pristine beaches, and the beautiful mountains that offer stunning views of the vistas below. Irvine is also home to some of the most thrilling kid-friendly attractions any where on the west coast. Go karts, waterparks, and museums dot the landscape. And while the kids are busy, perhaps the parents can sneak away to one of the nearby vineyards for some well deserved relaxation. Of course, when the family is ready to come together for some adventurous fun, Irvine also offers some of the very best escape rooms in southern California. Whatever your desire, Irvine has what you're looking for on your next vacation.
Although sometimes overshadowed by (relatively) nearby Los Angeles, Irvine is an incredible escape room destination minus the craziness of the big city. Since the first escape rooms arrived in the city, Irvine has crafted some of the very best immersive puzzle experiences in the southwest. In fact, the Irvine area is home to over 20 different escape room venues, and that number is sure to rise in the future. Irvine School of Wizardry and the Dragon Wand at Hidden Donkey is an award-winning room that remains a strong favorite among even the most experienced of players. Odditorium Emporium at EscapeX Rooms goes all-in on its theme, transporting players out of the world. The Return of the Magician at UNLOCKED: Escape Rooms is a deep experience that provides a thrill throughout its entire story. With nearly 100 escape games in the entire area, you’re sure to find the perfect game for you and your group.
Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
