“A fun spooky game that was filled with a lot of interesting puzzles. There was a couple of elements that weren’t necessarily my jam but overall it was a fun experience. Birdie was a great game master! And we were super excited to learn we beat the record for the fastest escape time!”

“Such a great surprise! The theme was fantastic, the puzzles were super creative, and the set/story were really immersive. We knew this was a smaller room than many we've done, but that never mattered. It was such a blast. Even after 60 escape rooms, this one still had a ton of things we hadn't seen before. It was so clever and perfectly executed. The storyline is clear and ties all the puzzles together in such a seamless manner. Really fantastic.”

“I honestly can't praise this enough. It is an absolute Christmas blast that makes you feel like a kid again. My Wife and I went into the room with low expectations (holiday rooms are usually thrown together), and we were met with the most fun room we've ever done. The puzzles are on the easier side, but that's not the point. The story is engaging, there is a huge collection of fun and exciting puzzles, the effects are shockingly impressive, the set design is perfect, the room(s) feel like a Christmas playground, and there are so many surprises that made us cheer. Jessica was an amazing game master. We have done nearly all of Portland Escape Rooms experiences (at both locations), and this is easily the best. If you want to feel the Christmas Spirit, do this room now. Absolutely an amazing time!”

“Probably the best overall locations I've ever been to. We did both rooms back to back and the owner, Patrick, was our game master. Finding the place is the first task, the signage makes it look like something else and when entering you need to solve a riddle to open up into the lobby. That was amazing! You're immediately immersed into the experience as they make the entire building part of what I'd describe as more of a set than individual rooms. I am not sure if they handle things the same if you only do one room, but ours had a little intro solve in between that tied back to the original "riddle" room we first entered. Both rooms flowed into one another, making the experience overall a great one! Lombino's Casino came first and this room had so many unique puzzles with fun engaging elements from the 80's. I suppose a younger kid might struggle with some of those references but for us it was fine. The clue system was unique, the game flowed well with no hang ups.”

“Probably the best overall locations I've ever been to. We did both rooms back to back, see other review for more details. Operation Gryaznayavoda came second. It flowed very well from the first room and the transition in between. The GM did a great job of staying in "character" in between as well. There were only 2 of us and the website said you needed 4. It was challenging for us to finish but we pulled it off. Some of these puzzles were so unique it was hard to describe to our family afterwards without them physically seeing with their own eyes and doing it. Very fun, very engaging!”

“Assassin's Deadly Game is the most surprising room I've ever done. When you walk in, you're almost disappointed... it's just a boring apartment room. That is the furthest thing from the truth. As the story unfolds, you find out that it's one of the most deceptive and cleverly designed rooms ever. Easily the best single-room experience I've done. The puzzles are so fun and so impressive. The game master system is so fun and keeps you locked in to the story. Amazing and underrated room.”

“Fun room. Heavily uses symbolism and recognition vs physical puzzles. Loved the props and the room is beautiful. Didn't get the "Disney smell" stuff other reviews mentioned but it didn't need that. There were some really cool puzzles and some that felt monotonous. Overall I think if you had a bigger group (we were 2) it'd be better, maybe 4.”

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
