Prison Break
The Escape Game - Dedham
Escape room
IRL
This room has some of the best elements of a fun, collaborative, exciting room great for a group that wants to be split up and put to the test. It has good ambience, some fantastic on-theme touches, and plenty of puzzles to keep you going for a full hour (and probably then some!) One of the best rooms I've done.
Aunt Millie's Millions

Fantastic room with very immersive elements and puzzles. Completely unique puzzle types (not your typical open-five-different-combo-locks), and great amount of puzzles for the room size. Staff was absolutely wonderful; we had one small hiccup where one of the puzzles had a technical malfunction and as soon as the game master realized this, they added on an extra 5 minutes to the game that we definitely would not have needed had the malfunction not occured. Highly recommend this room!

Haunted Train

Wonderful staff, ambience, and theming. It was clear to me and my group that the Haunted Train room was well-thought out and the puzzles were carefully crafted to fit the theme. The only thing that leaves a little to be desired was the final part of the room. Where the first two thirds of the room are fantastic, the last third feels a bit empty and lackluster, with not quite enough puzzles to really fill up the remainder of the 60-minute timeframe. With how much careful crafting and thought went into the beginning of the room, I think that the creators at Neo can easily remedy the ending of the room. All-in-all, still a fun and enjoyable escape room, but for those who are real escape-room enthusiasts, be aware that the last part of this room definitely leaves a bit to be desired.

Fantastic room! Very unique and well-thought-out theme with a cohesive story line. All the puzzles are inventive and fit the theme very well. It's a completely immersive experience with a good amount of challenge to it!
Gold Rush
The Escape Game - Dedham
Escape room

This room has a lot of great decor and theming. The ambience fits very well eith the theme they are going for, and quite a few of the puzzles are unique and fun. That being said, there are also quite a few combo-lock puzzles, which does take away from the originality of the rest of the room. Unfortunately, unlike many other places in 2024, this escape room does not allow for private booking, so you will likely be paired with strangers (like we were).
The Haunting In Crimson
Adventure Gamez Escape Room
Escape room
IRL
Immersive room with a fun, lightly-spooky theme and good decor. Most of the puzzles were on-theme, with a good mix of combination locks and unique puzzles. A couple of the puzzles could use improvement, but overall this was a very fun and worthwhile escape room. Staff was also very kind and accommodating, and very open to feedback about our experience in the room. Excited to see what other rooms they add.
Insane Asylum
PanIQ Escape Room - Sacramento
Escape room
IRL
I can't tell if I really liked this room or not. There were a couple of neat and fun puzzles, and a few that felt very flat and uninteresting. The theme is fairly consistent throughout, but not completely immersive or thorough. There was a little bit of challenge in some of the puzzles. Pretty mediocre room overall.
Once Upon A Time
Red Door Escape Room - Sacramento
Escape room
IRL
If you're looking for an easier, more laid back room with a fun theme, this one is a solid choice. It's very on-theme, whimsical, and fun. The puzzles aren't the most unique, and if you've played any other rooms at Red Door you'll have a good idea of what to look out for and do. Overall, fun room (probably best for inexperienced players and kids).
The Scottish Play
Escape Ashland - "The Scottish Play"
Escape room
IRL
Not bad, starts out in a semi-cramped area and has a couple of very unique, yet challenging puzzles. All in all, well themed, and puzzles definitely match the theme fairly well. Unfortunately it just felt like there weren't quite enough puzzles for a full 60-minute escape room. Nonetheless, this is a fun, whimsical, more family-friendly immersive escape room. Worth a try if you're in the area.
Wizard Trials
PanIQ Escape Room - Sacramento
Escape room
IRL
First things first, PanIQ does a great job of immersing you into the theme of the room. You really feel like a wizarding student, looking through the office of a wise old wizard. None of the puzzles are combination or key locks, and they all fit the theme of the room quite well. Some of the puzzles are even quite unique, showcasing things I've never seen before in over 50+ other escape rooms. That all being said, this room was quite easy to solve with absolutely no hints whatsoever in far too little time. Given how expensive this room is in comparison with other escape room places nearby, I felt that it was definitely not worth the price as marketed as a 60-minute escape room. There just is not enough content inside the room to fill out the 60 minute time frame, even with children in your party and taking things at a leisurely pace. PanIQ should seriously consider either marketing this as another 45-minute game and seriously lowering the price, or add a couple more puzzles to fill out the rest of the 60 minutes.
