The story, set and puzzles were so special. The lighting and sound built atmosphere and tension and set just blew us away multiple times! The hype is accurate!! We spoke with Mels, the new owner, for a long time afterwards and it’s always great to be able to nerd out about escape rooms with fellow enthusiasts!!
The DomeMama BazookaEscape roomIRLSuch a fun concept, really great and different puzzles and not a lock or key in sight! The atmosphere definitely holds a lot of apprehension and tension so slightly more on the spooky side. Definitely a must do in the Netherlands. Also the lounge area for before and after is wonderful.
Zoltar Spreekt [Zoltar Speaks]Escape Cafe HilversumEscape roomIRLA really fun and adrenaline inducing game. Loved the theming and the layout is really cool. There aren’t many puzzles but we easily filled almost the whole 75 minutes.
The Time TrapTenby's Great EscapeEscape roomIRLI loved the time travel element of this room but perhaps one more ‘era’ would have been nice. The rooms were well decorated with nice props and theming. The puzzles were a medium level of difficult and felt suitable to the theme.
Turd Raiders and the Lost Golden PlungerCompendium Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis is a really fun and unusual in theme collection game. There is a high number of puzzles to complete and they really varied in terms of type and difficulty. We played as a two and I don’t think either of us stopped moving for the full hour! We had a great time!
La Cerveseria [The Brewery]EnigmikEscape roomIRLA great room full of puzzles and tech. There is a lot to do and some fun moments. I really enjoyed it but compared to some of the rooms available in Barcelona now it’s a bit of a more traditional escape room and didn’t wow me as much as others, hence the thumbs up rather than a heart! But it’s a definite must do in Barcelona.
NW6 BunkerEnigmikEscape roomIRLPlayed this as a 2 and we had a fun time! A more traditional escape room, with a good variety of puzzles. Enthusiasts would probably find this on the easier side. Make sure you read your email before going!! If you only have time to do one room at this company I would choose the brewery.
Distrito 111 [District 111]Unreal Room Escape Sant Martí – BarcelonaEscape roomIRLA really immersive room with great props and puzzles that were very tactile and felt like things you would actually need to do. This is more of a traditional escape room than some of the more immersive experiences available in the area but it’s still a must do. The space isn’t huge but they use it really well. Some puzzle types I hadn’t seen before which was cool!
Abduction 3: The ExamAbduction 2-3-4-Radio Escape Room BadalonaEscape roomIRLThis room was a lot of fun! It’s quite physical in places, and you have to work together well as a team. The theming is quite basic but really works for the room and atmosphere. Some audio elements were not translated to English which was tricky but we figured out what we had to do/what we had done wrong.
Jurásico [Jurassic]Golden PopEscape roomIRLThe atmosphere and theming of Jurasico is amazing! We had such a fun time from start to finish, it really felt like we were in a film! The puzzles varied in difficulty. Sometimes we were a bit confused about what happened after a solve but it didn’t really take away from the experience. Fans of Jurassic Park will love the nods to the original film!
Runaway TrainXscapeNowEscape roomIRLThis room was fun, with great theming and a range of puzzles. The puzzles were relatively easy but were in-keeping with the theme. The final puzzle felt a bit anticlimactic for the escape moment. But still a fun experience and Xscape Now are clearly a company that puts a lot of thought into their theming and experience. Our game host was so lovely!
BattleshipsXscapeNowEscape roomIRLWe loved this room! There was a lot to do, a variety of puzzles and the final room was a blast! We really felt like the momentum and pressure was building with a fun finale moment. Highly recommend this room!
OrbitalBreak Escape Nottingham - Market StreetEscape roomIRLThis is a well themed spaceship room. There is plenty to do and I loved working through each ‘task’. The theme and atmosphere were impressive and there were a couple of cool puzzles I’d not come across before!
Labyrinth - Lord Barrington's FollyEscape BrumEscape roomIRLMy partner and I had so much fun playing this room. We finished the main goal with plenty of time to hunt for coins. I loved the side quest of coin gathering and think that element would be what would appeal to enthusiasts - there’s plenty to do! The set and theming was lovely. The story here felt less central than some rooms but our goal was clear. This room was just solid fun from start to finish. We used up our whole hour too which I love!! My partner has only done around 20 rooms but placed this as one of his favourites.
MagnificoEscaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLThis game shot straight to my number 1 spot, and I think it will take a while for anything to overtake it! It’s a true mix of immersive theatre and escape room. Within minutes I’d forgotten we were playing a game and felt fully immersed. The story was captivating and emotional, and the puzzles perfectly fit with the narrative. Escaparium are really doing something special with this room.
Ministry of Lost Things: Lint ConditionPostCuriousEscape roomTabletopAs a huge fan of PostCurious, I loved this adorable addition to the line up! The puzzles were fun, cute and had enough variety in difficulty. Loved the keepsakes too! Looking forward to the next case to solve!
Age of MagicEscape ReadingEscape roomIRLA really well themed and beautiful room. There was a variety of puzzles and they all felt realistic for the theme and story. The story flowed well and we had a lot of fun!
The Morrison Game FactoryPostCuriousEscape roomTabletopThis game was really lovely. It had a beautiful story that really tugged at the heart strings! The puzzles were a medium difficulty with fun physical elements. There was quite a lot of reading to do on our iPad but it added to the story and was done in a novel way that we enjoyed. We played as a 2 and it took around 3 hours.
The Light In The MistPostCuriousEscape roomTabletopThis game was so unique and we loved the tarot element. The art on the cards was beautiful and the story throughout the experience was very moving. We loved being able to learn and play with the tarot cards afterwards, extending our experience! We played as a 3 and there was plenty for us all to be involved and enjoying it
The Emerald FlamePostCuriousEscape roomTabletopThis is a beautiful game with well designed and realistic components. The puzzles range from medium difficult to head scratchers with fun ‘a-ha!’ moments! We played as a group of 4 and everyone had something to do throughout the game. It took about 3-4 sessions to finish it.
