El Secreto de los KruggerInsomnia Corporation Escape roomIRLKrugger's Secret, ranked #4 in the entire world, is one of the BEST escape rooms I've ever been to! Calling it an 'escape room' is somewhat insulting because Krugger's Secret is an ENTIRE HOTEL. Aptly named the Insomnia Hotel, the experience starts at the door where the staff and GMs are all already in character once the doors open! This is one experience you might WISH there was a pause button for the immersion because the Krugger's Secret is poop your pants TERRIFYING. Granted, this review is coming from a person who's very much afraid of haunted houses so... take with a grain of salt! (But seriously I'm not kidding.💀) Only those with nerves of steel should attempt the experience! Age limit is 16 and minors must be accompanied by an adult. I will try and make this as spoiler free as possible with the exception of some Good-To-Know-Beforehand knowledge. - It's a hotel with each sleeping room being it's own theme and unique escape room! You check in starting at 6PM and the doors of the front desk lobby don't open until 6, so don't come too early or you're going to have to wait outside until 6! - The location is up a mountain and they have a parking lot right before the hotel. It'll be an area with small white pebbles and lots with the insomnia hotel signage (easy to miss) that indicates it's parking for the hotel. If you arrive at the hotel, turn back around (the road is narrow as heck), and you'll find parking a bit downhill. - Age limit is 16. 18+ recommended. 2 players recommended though 3 is the max. You will be sleeping in the escape room and depending on the sleeping room, you can book for 3 people. For larger groups, anyone over 2-3 people will have to book a separate room, but the ENTIRE HOTEL can be a maximum of 14 people! - Game can be in English, but mostly will probably be in Spanish depending on the players. They have GMs (in character) who will translate for you, but if it's possible to organize an English speaking meetup for it, that would be IDEAL! - You can read up on each individual sleeping room to book on their website. If you'd like the most peaceful sleep, go with Aradia. If you're fearless, go with Madre. - Taxi services in Berga don't start until 8AM! If you're trying to call a taxi to get to a bus or something, you will be poop out of luck. Ubers don't exist there for some reason. Walking is viable but...it's a pretty steep hill with luggage 💀. Let Mr. Krugger (the GM) know about your morning plans the night prior so they can help you! Mr. Krugger was an ABSOLUTE GEM and drove us himself last minute in the morning to the bus station! Thank you so so much! <3 - Note: All staff will go home after midnight, so there will be no one to help unless you call them. After solving the individual rooms, they will treat you to an unforgettable dinner! The food comes out in courses and they're themed to each character. You can let them know of any food restrictions you have prior to coming! They will also give you instructions about the experience after! Because from after dinner to midnight, that's when the family members come out to play 😏. By play I mean chase you around the hotel as you try and solve the puzzles in each room (not the sleeping rooms). The hotel has many rooms that you can freely explore (the entire hotel) and each room indicates the number of puzzles there are in each room. You must try and survive while trying to solve as many as you can. Unfortunately I can't say much for the difficulty of these puzzles because I'm chicken shit and hid in my room the entire time then got chased out at midnight. (The sleeping rooms are NOT a safe zone 🤣 Guess how I found out?). But afterwards when they took us around to show us the puzzles (as out of character GMs), I was pretty confident I would not have been able to solve a single one 🤣. The rooms are TERRIFYING. The set design? Holy shit. Get me out. Some of the puzzle designs? Pure diabolical. I learned something new about myself that day. And that is: courage does not increase with age 🤣 Overall, Krugger's Secret is #4 in the entire world for a reason. They're one of the best and you will leave with an unforgettable experience even if you're like me and hid away for the majority of the after-dinner part of it. 😅
Magic UniverseMad LandEscape roomIRLOh. My. God. 😳 This is hands down, no contest, the best game I have EVER played. It’s not #2 on TERPECA for nothing! 😍 Words can’t describe how absolutely phenomenal this game is!!! Every single room, every single part of the entire game was an unforgettable experience! The set design was AMAZING. The lights, sound, and live actors work together to create an INCREDIBLE atmosphere and experience! The experience starts the moment you step through the front door. No GM to greet you, nothing to detract from the immersion. You. Are. There. And my goodness the story, the live acting, every part of the game had me slack jawed and giddy for more!! In terms of gameplay, the puzzles weren’t too difficult! It’s very much about the experience! They make great use of lighting and sounds to direct you to the answer and if you need a hint, the live actors will come out and help you along through acting. There are moments of complete darkness, but those are there to help the magic along! Not scary at all! For any kiddos and fans of Harry Potter, or, hell, if you breathe and are able bodied, you’ll love this room!! It’s not even a room at this point, it’s an entire castle and then some! They take lots of inspiration from Harry Potter, but the room stands fully on its own! No outside knowledge necessary at all! I highly highly HIGHLY recommend Magic Universe to anyone who has the opportunity to go and experience this MAGICAL escape room! Trust me, you won’t regret it! Some extra info! The location is slightly hard to find. You’ll arrive at a warehouse area. Go through the gates and straight around to the back where you’ll see a door with the signature M on it with a plaque on the side! There is an intercom to ring and get in!
The Bridge BetweenQuest TavernEscape roomIRLA super high quality escape room just like all the other ones at the Quest Tavern, but this one would definitely rank one of the best ones here! I’ve done all of them and I’d say the Bridge Between is probably the hardest room at the Quest Tavern! It requires a minimum of 2 people, but to finish within the time limit of 75 minutes, I’d say 3-4 is recommended. Not scary at all! There is a LOT of puzzles and so much to do in this room. Not terribly a lot of seeking puzzles. Very immersive, including the hint system! Our GM was absolutely stellar in making for an unforgettable experience! The ending was super cute, though I did bang up my knee a bit 🤣 I guess that would be my only word of caution! Overall, I would not say this is beginner friendly, but enthusiasts who enjoy a challenge will absolutely love it! ❤️
Loot Wars: The HarvestKing's Eye EscapeEscape roomIRLLOVED it! 🥰 It’s 80minutes for 2 people and 60minutes for 3+. We asked for a scare experience and god the jump scare caught us way off guard 🤣 Paranoid for the rest of the game lol. You can customize your experience though by letting the GM know in the beginning if you’d like a live actor/scare at all or just solve puzzles. The puzzles were actually pretty fun to solve! Some of them were seeking (took us awhile because we’re apparently visually challenged lol), but most were pretty straight forward puzzles! There were a few that required dexterity and actually breaking some things so that was pretty cool! Thoroughly enjoyed our time! Definitely recommend! ❤️
Cheesie's Pizza Party60 to Escape - SchaumburgEscape roomIRLThis is a VERY search heavy room! If you identify as someone that has to ask your partner where the keys (that are right in front of you) are, be prepared to be humbled 🤣 Jokes aside, there are fewer puzzles and just lots of searching and matching. There is a lot to DO though. The set was amazing and very immersive! Slightly spooky! Maybe not the best for kids or people who freak easily. Or perfect for kids that like a little bit of thrill! (You can make the kiddos search for things!) Choose the bravest to be the birthday person. Can’t back out of that role. Hahaha! I tried 🫠 It’s not too scary though, you just have to be okay with standing slightly close to the otherwise murder mouse. No biggie. 😋 We had fun though! Impressive set design, very few traditional locks! Would recommend! (Unless you’re like my husband who is a bit visually challenged 🤣)
Lockbuster Video60 to Escape - SchaumburgEscape roomIRLThoroughly enjoyed the experience!! The set was amazing and well designed and made! Things were high quality and nothing seemed old and broken. Very high tech room! I think there was maybe only 1-2 traditional locks in the whole room. Story was fun and interesting! The set design was AMAZING! Really wished I could see how it works but unfortunately that’s a secret 🤣 Not scary at all! Kids would love it! Puzzles weren’t too hard. I’d say Easy-Medium range? We went in as a group of 2 and finished with 17:46 to spare. Super fun experience! Would definitely recommend!
The Arcane LibraryThe Lodge of Lazarus CroweEscape roomIRLI LOVED this room! All of the rooms at the Lodge of Lazarus Crowe were very high quality! The set was designed very well and felt very immersive! The puzzles were fun to solve and a good difficulty level in my opinion! Not too hard, perfect for the experience! Not scary! Older kids would enjoy it! Great for small groups! I love how they don’t have a strict timer! The GM said if we didn’t have a group after us, then they’d have let us take as long as we needed! If there is a reservation after, then they might nudge us a bit more! There is no timer in any of the rooms we’ve done (we’ve experienced 3) and so you can really take your time to think and solve each one without feeling like you have to rush to finish or resort to asking for hints just to stay within the time! The Lodge also has a bar and cafe that opens at I believe 4PM so for any enthusiasts, you might want to check that out too if given the time! There are mystery boxes for sitting down and solving as well! Overall, I highly highly recommend The Arcane Library and any other rooms at the Lodge! If I could spend all day there, I totally would’ve! 🤣
The Founder's SecretThe Lodge of Lazarus CroweEscape roomIRLAbsolutely LOVED this escape room! Definitely one of my all time favorites!! The puzzles flow well from one to another and the mechanisms were all very novel and unique! No spoilers, but one part blew our minds!!! Look forward to it!! 😍 Not scary! Very immersive! Experience starts before the door haha. In terms of difficulty, we went in as a group of 2 and finished pretty fast, I’m estimating somewhere around 1hr? They didn’t have a clock lol. All the GMs were very enthusiastic and friendly! The entire lodge has the vibes of being among hobbyists sharing similar interests! The Lazarus Lodge is also a bar and cafe, opens at 4PM I believe! There are also puzzles you can do at the lodge! The puzzles are slightly on the medium harder side, so younger kids might not be able to fully enjoy the rooms! No scary elements though some props are slightly creepy 🤣 None in the Founders Secret specifically though. Just outside. Overall I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this escape room!! You won’t regret it! 🥰❤️
UndercookedOmescape - SunnyvaleEscape roomIRLAbsolutely LOVED it! Undercooked is super unique in that you're not trying to escape, you're trying to complete as many recipe dishes as you can in 75 minutes! There are 26 recipes in total, some harder with multiple steps, some more straight forward. I'd definitely recommend a slightly larger group. We went in as a group of 2 and we did manage 14 recipes completed by the end with only light hints. I'd say a good group size is 4 ish? Minimum players to complete puzzles is 2! Though if you're only a group of 2, not to worry! You can always repeat the room and concentrate on all the ones you haven't finished the second time around! That's what we're planning to do the next time we come back! 🥰 If you played Overcooked the game, that very stressful song (you know the one 🤣) will be playing the entire time haha! I'd say it definitely takes inspiration from the vibes of Overcooked, but the actual gameplay is completely different. Overcooked is repetitive, Undercooked features puzzles, LOTS of it! It's definitely overwhelming in the beginning, but after we got oriented, we were rushing to complete the puzzles/recipes! Not scary at all! Super fun, albeit slightly stressful 🤣 Kids will love it! Great for small-medium sized groups! All flat surfaces, only one area needs 1 person to crouch and crawl a bit. No climbing needed. A few places of improvement... maybe we were going too slow in the beginning, but the GMs started to outright tell us how to do the puzzles when not being prompted 💀 I felt bad telling them outright not to, so maybe before going in, mention that you guys would like to have hints only when asked? Slight area of possible improvement, but (trying not to spoil anything), you'll need to write down a LOT of numbers in this escape room, but they only give you 1 little writing board for the entire group. They might give more for larger groups idk, but we were a group of 2 and only got 1. Which...normally 1 is enough if we're doing the same puzzles, but halfway through, or actually really early on, we decided to split up and completely different puzzles individually. I needed to write stuff down, but my partner had the board or vice versa. Would have liked my own board. I don't think this kind of difficulty was what they intended for. Overall, we absolutely LOVED Undercooked and this is one of the few escape rooms that I'd say is repeatable just because it's not designed to 100% completed in 75 minutes! And as I said before, because we split up, the next time we come, we can not only do the ones we haven't completed yet, but also the ones the other person completed the first time! (We had decided on this and tried very hard to not debrief afterwards and tell each other everything 🤣). Super super recommend this escape room!
Dr. Hader’s Cartoon WorldScenario Escape RoomEscape roomIRLHad a lot of fun playing Dr Haders Cartoon World! This is our second game at Scenario Escape Room (we previously did Mad Rapper) and both games were phenomenal! Dr Haders might be a touch easier of the two! Both games were very high quality! The gameplay was very fun, puzzles pretty novel, not terribly difficult though they are on the harder side. Not scary, though the room is a bit darker/dimmer, more for the atmosphere than trying to make it spooky or anything. A good mix of traditional locks and also trigger locks. Staff and GM were very friendly and amazing! Let us stay a bit over time to finish the brownie points puzzles because there wasn’t a group after us. Overall it was a lot of fun! Thank you for the amazing time! 🥰

We were a group of 2 and got out with about 15~ min left to spare. Loved the technical designs! Especially the bit on the computer! A lot of it was seeking though, so that probably ate up the most amount of time. Live actor. LOL. Not meant to be scary. Listen to the radio prompts. Our GM was Deepak and he was super friendly and helpful! Overall a very fun experience!
HeadcaseBreaking Point Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLAbsolutely loved Headcase! It’s slightly spooky! Mad scientist setup. The room is designed pretty realistically dirty and gross and serial killer scary! No jump scares. Though the Dr apparently forgot to pay his electricity bills, so the lights flicker on and off. If you’re afraid of the dark, maybe bring an emotional support friend! The puzzles were very novel and I loved every aspect of it! The story was also unforgettable! You don’t forget what the story is and there is a plot twist to look forward to! Each little bit of the room is part of the puzzle! Look carefully! 👀 In terms of difficulty, we went in as a group of 3 and got out with 12:16 left with only 1-2 nudged hints. The room is 75 minutes long though! That said, I’d still rate this room on the harder side! There is one section that requires someone to crawl. Only 1 person necessary, though 2 would be helpful. There is definitely a lot of things to do in this room, but everything was so darned fun and novel! Loved all the puzzles! Highly highly recommend this room! We’re definitely coming back to do all the rooms at Breaking Point Escape Rooms!
The Buried ProphecyQuest Tavern - UplandEscape roomIRLLoved The Buried Prophecy! We’ve now done all the rooms for the Quest Tavern! The Buried Prophecy is their only one at this location, though they’re supposedly opening up a new one soon! Not scary, but dark atmosphere (you’re in a tomb!) The set is pretty amazing! They’ve done a really awesome job making it really feel like you’re in a tomb! The puzzles are pretty novel and different, not heavily reliant on traditional locks. Each puzzle was different and novel and fun to work through! Not terribly hard! The first half we sort of breezed through. The second half tripped us up in several places where our wonderful GM Diego stepped in to give us small nudges in the right direction! Difficulty I’d say was a Medium, leaning towards hard a bit. We went in as a group of 2 and got out with about a minute to spare 🤣. There’s a side quest thing where you can find 10 coins in your room and get a discount! We couldn’t really split our attention much that way since we’re two people, but if we had 3 or more, we definitely would’ve tried searching for those too! Ideally I’d say 3-4 people would be perfect! Space isn’t very big, so maybe not very good for large groups! As a review for all of Quest Tavern, I absolutely loved each and every one of their rooms! I would highly highly recommend all of them! My favorite though would probably still be the Last Supper! Overall, still highly recommend Buried Prophecy! And a special thanks to our GM Diego for being super friendly and welcoming and facilitate an unforgettable experience!
Witch's CauldronQuest TavernEscape roomIRLWitch’s Cauldron was our last game at the Quest Tavern in the Pomona location and it was super fun! All of them were very high quality and well designed! Dark lighting, start off eyes closed and chained. Probably not the best for children unless they like the Halloween vibes! Not really meant to be scary. No jump scares, (but maybe don’t let the easily scared person open things…) The set was very well made, the puzzles very novel! A good mix of traditional locks and unique triggers. Difficulty overall wasn’t terribly hard! We were a group of 2 and got out with time to spare, though there was one puzzle that was decently hard, I’d say. We got 2 hints I believe, one for the hard puzzle and the other just because we’re blind 🤣 One puzzle required sense of smell. If you recently got covid/stuffy nose or something and can’t smell anything…maybe choose another escape room 😅 Overall we had a lot a lot of fun with this escape room! Definitely would highly recommend!
Hope EndThe Ministry Of PeculiaritiesEscape roomIRLHope End is absolutely one of my ALL TIME favorite escape games, especially in SoCal! I will start off by saying it’s slightly scary. Probably not so great for children, unless they’re super brave! There is a live actor, but they’re not…too scary. There’s no chasing, not really there to scare you except unsettle you a bit… They’re there to make the experience unforgettable! 😁 There’s only a few moments that’s a bit scary but it was more from the sudden appearance than anything scary scary, otherwise this game isn’t designed to scare you, rather just unsettle you. 4 people is the absolute minimum. I don’t think they can really fudge that limit to accommodate lesser number of players. Slight spoiler, you do get separated momentarily in the beginning, hence the minimum number of players. From even before you enter the door, they are all already in character! They only break character at the really end when you’ve finished and my they were absolutely AMAZING. The puzzles weren’t too difficult, but you can tell this room was designed as an EXPERIENCE, and less so trying to make it so difficult that the pass rate is low. They WANT you to finish the game, so you can experience it in its entirety ❤️. For our group, we went in as a group of 4, and I think the difficulty was just right! Lots to see, do, find, and explore! Some dexterity involved haha. 🤣 The story is PHENOMENAL. Most escape games you can go through and forget about the story. Not this one. You are engaged and stay engaged to the story throughout. The puzzles make sense and adhere to the main storyline. There were a few locks, but all of them were to theme, no combination locks at all. They make you believe (down to the smell lol), that you’re in a different time period. The set was absolutely on point! They did very well to bring the manor and story to life with the lights, sounds, set designs, live acting, etc! I would absolutely absolutely recommend Hope End to anyone hoping for an unforgettable experience!
The Weeping WitchCross Roads Escape GamesEscape roomIRLHoly 💩! This room is definitely scary scary but one of the best games we’ve played so far! 🤣 For anyone brave enough to play, I highly highly recommend this escape room! There is a live actor. She will try to scare the poops out of you. Multiple times. No contact. But you will be all out of poops by the end of the game 🤣. The story was IMPECCABLE. Not once have I forgotten what the “mission” for the room was. Many escape rooms are just puzzle after puzzle and you kind of forget what the original mission was. Not this one. You’re trying to banish her. She wants to stop you. The immersion was perfect too! The puzzles themselves require you to do things that would really make it seem like you’re performing a ritual. When we were reading the “spell”…let’s say we were screaming it 🤣🤣 The set, the room space isn’t very big, so not ideal for large groups, but each decoration choice, each creepy ass doll, (including the very special GM one, ahemBellamyanem), are all there to build the experience and I think they did a phenomenal job with it! There is something different about this room that I absolutely loved. Most horror themed escape rooms are kind of…stressful the entire way through. Not this one. You know exactly when the witch is going to come, so the other times you are “safe” and Bellamy, our helper, kept interacting with us in character to really keep the mood from becoming scary scary. He told us jokes, made us tell him jokes, lol, but was in character the entire time! The humor I think adds to the experience by making it not so stressful the entire way through, so your experience is still positive, while allowing for the thrill of the scare. Also the difference between laughing my ass off and then pooping my pants heightens both, so I love that choice the designers made for The Weeping Witch! Some of the puzzles are a tad bit on the harder side, especially with the…location of certain things you’re supposed to find to solve the puzzle. Though once you have all the pieces, the puzzles themselves aren’t too difficult! Only tip…be brave 🤣 Our group was a group of 4 and with a few hints, we got out with a minute and two seconds to spare. I’d say 4-5 is probably an ideal group size! More if everyone is afraid hahaha! Overall, The Weeping Witch is one of my absolute all time favorite escape games, especially in SoCal! For anyone who loves horror or is seeking thrills, I would absolutely recommend this one!
The Magic CottageInfinity EscapeEscape roomIRLIt was super fun! The atmosphere and the set, the story, the “hint NPC”, gameplay, puzzles, were all perfect! Loved them all! The set was very well made, you start off in a slightly spooky total darkness environment save for one candle and you need to solve some things first before the lights turn on. Nothing broken, highly technical! No combination locks save for one cryptic lock, everything else opened by putting correct items into the correct place, and some key locks, etc. Decoration was detailed and the guide “NPC” was pretty cool! The gameplay was super fun! It wasn’t tedious and there were many novel puzzles, some that may require some, ahem, skills. Won’t say what kind, but, skills. Puzzles requires you to look closely 👀 Some things are easy to miss in this room 😅 The part I loved the most about the room was probably the story! Most run of the mill escape rooms have a story that you could really do without. Like you finish the game and it was fun, but the story was whatever. You forgot what you’re trying to do. But this room makes you actually stay engaged in the story. Setting is two sister witches got themselves cursed and you’re here in their magic cottage to undo the curse, but only for one witch. One is evil. The other one is not. You have to choose. I love that novelty! But also every part of the room is engaging with that story setup. The sisters themselves appear (not in person, NO LIVE ACTORS) to make their case, and it’s up to you with clues in the room to help you choose. Choose right and you get out 🥰 Choose wrong and you may just be trapped forever 😈 Lol. But yes, really loved it! Again, there are NO live actors, the room is not meant to be scary and there are no loud noises or jump scares, but the room is quite dim the entire time and you start off in a completely dark room. For kids that aren’t afraid of the dark, this room is perfect! For people with a fear of the dark, maybe not! Only thing I will say is a slight bummer, is the GM for our group 💀 He was super nice! Great guy! But he gave us hints immediately, without us asking for them, constantly, and not in character. We don’t usually use hints unless stuck or short on time, so it was a bit of a bummer. Felt rude to say “please don’t help us” though we probably should have lol. We did have 2 kiddos with us though, so he probably thought we might need that nudge. Even then, I wish the hints came in character… Other than that, the room was great! Overall, I highly recommend this escape room! Thank you for the wonderful experience!
Mission's Breakout: The Ultimate Bank HeistMission Escape GamesEscape roomIRLLoved this one! Probably the best one so far (we’ve done 3), set super well made, atmosphere really nice. Nothing scary at all. Difficulty was medium hard I’d say? There were a few times you get parts of the clue but you don’t have all the things necessary to solve it yet. We didn’t know and spent a lot of time on it. There were quite a lot of combination locks in this room. A good blend of tech locks and traditional locks, I’d say! We were a group of 4 and got…2 hints? We finished with about 7min to spare. Our GM was super friendly and enthusiastic, spending time with us before and after telling us about other playthroughs, funny or memorable moments, etc! Thank you so much for a wonderful experience! They’re located on the second floor, but floor 4 if you go by the parking lot elevator. Next to the theater! Pretty big store and hard to miss. They have 10% discounts if you book another room right after your game but for another day. 20% discounts if you book same day.
Escape The HydeoutMission Escape GamesEscape roomIRLA great beginner escape room for first time players! The set was well made with a good mix of traditional locks and techy aspects. There are multiple “rooms” for the fun experience of “unlocking” more of the “map”. The puzzles are definitely on the easier side, which is why I said it’s great for beginners. There isn’t that many either so it’s easier to finish the game and get that hit of dopamine from achievement🤣 Our GM was amazing and spent time with us before and after chatting about fun or memorable moments, other playthroughs, etc! Thank you so much for the amazing experience! Not scary at all! No loud noises or jump scares. They do sometimes dim the lights in certain areas after something unlocks to get you to focus on certain things. Nothing gory. I’d say kid friendly! Located on the second floor, 4th floor if you go by parking lot elevator. 10% discount if you book right after finishing for another day. 20% discount for same day bookings.
Escape Operation: End Of DaysMission Escape GamesEscape roomIRLLiked it a lot! There were no combination locks! It was a mix of buttons, things that turn, different inputs and plugs, etc! The game was designed well! Some of the puzzles were decently hard. I don’t think I would have made the connection without the hint. The other one we got a hint for was a faceplant it was so obvious, but we just didn’t SEE lol 🤣 Room was decently dark! Hope you have good vision in the dark! Also we went as a two person team and the room was quite large so it was FREEZING 🥶. Definitely bring a jacket if you’re like me and unfortunately run on the colder side 🫠 Room starts off dark dark and remains semi lit. Think underground bunker after apocalypse hits 🤣 It’s not scary at all though. No loud noises, nothing to jump out at you, gory elements, etc. I’d say…kid tag-alongs are fine if they’re okay with the dark, but this room would definitely be more for adults or older kids. Everything was made very high quality and nothing was broken or seemed old. I have high expectations for the rest of the rooms at Mission Escape! Will definitely be returning! Thank you again to our GM for sticking with us after for so long to book our next game! 🤣 P.S.! For anyone wanting to get discounts, they give 10% discount for right after game ends bookings and 20% discount for same day bookings! They do book up pretty fast though, so idk how often someone has the opportunity to use the 20% discount unless you go on the weekdays!
