漆黒の悟り [Shadow Zen]Studio Escape Daikoku-choEscape roomIRLWhat an incredibly beautiful, creative, surprising, and super fun experience! I had high expectations for Shadow Zen after playing all of Studio Escape’s other brilliant games, but it still blew me away. The theming and use of tech (concealed and otherwise) were simply flawless, and each puzzle flowed seamlessly into the next and in line with the overall narrative. My only complaint is that I wish it were longer and more challenging for enthusiasts. Our team of 4 tried our best to go slow and experience every moment together, yet still finished with 15 minutes to spare. So my recommendation is to hang around, explore, and immerse yourself in the world of Shadow Zen for as long as you can, because it’s absolutely worth it!
Le Jour du Jugement [Judgement Day]EliviascapeEscape roomIRLWow, what a game! Massive space, far bigger than I could have imagined, with a chilling story based on true events and filled with sharp imagery and symbolism. While a little too dark at times and not all the puzzles had perfect signposting, the overall experience was creepy, thrilling, engaging, surprising, and thought-provoking. The climatic final "puzzle" was some of the most intense fun I've had in an escape room. One of my favourite horror rooms.
Cabin CultStrange World Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThose who enjoyed Mrs Claws will love Cabin Cult! From the puzzles to the effects to the scares, everything has been leveled up to deliver a super fun and campy experience. I was very impressed by the way they reconfigured the room so it felt completely different to Mrs Claws. Highly recommended for family/friend groups and date nights!
Sweethearts Ice Cream ParlourThe Cool SpaceEscape roomIRLAbsolutely adored this room! With gorgeous theming and design, blending cool puzzles, sweet theatrics, and a whole lot of heart (all puns intended), Sweethearts is a truly delightful experience. You can really see and feel the care, effort, and attention to detail that went into its creation, with the main emphasis being "fun". It's precisely the kind of room that made me fall in love with escape rooms in the first place.
Mr Pepper’s Toy ShopThe Cipher Room St PetersEscape roomIRLAnother absolutely incredible experience at The Cipher Room. The theming and atmosphere were expertly crafted, with exquisite props and clever/unique puzzles. There's actually quite a lot of tech but it's all so well-hidden that it doesn't affect the immersion. No live actors but multiple jump scares to keep you on your toes. There were so many instances where we were left in awe of the design and revelations. And the ending was once again a jaw-dropper. All the rooms we've done at here have been mindblowingly fun for the whole family. If there's one escape room establishment to recommend in Sydney (or perhaps all of Australia) it would invariably be Cipher.
AbstractionEliviascapeEscape roomIRLCreepy psychological horror with a solid set, an interesting story and a good variety of puzzles, plus a scary final act that had us scrambling! It was a little dark at times for old eyes but the use of lighting and sound to direct attention was well-executed. One slight mixup had us listening to French audio but we somehow got through it anyway and finished with 25 minutes to spare!
Bloodstone KeepEscapistEscape roomIRLA very cool vampire themed room with an immersive atmosphere, lots of thematic puzzles, and a dramatic finale. Just a tinge of creepiness but not scary, so it’s perfect for families.
La RébellionThe Cipher Room St PetersEscape roomIRLAnother incredible room by Cipher. Simply on a different level in terms of attention to detail and immersion compared to most of the other escape rooms we've done. Some escape rooms are just a bunch of random puzzles tossed into a room or two. All of La Rebellion's puzzles make sense and flow seamlessly from start to finish while remaining true to the theme. Most of the puzzles are not overly difficult, but there are loads of puzzles to do, and they're highly varied and fun. A cracker of an ending too. Loved every minute of it!
女王と国のために [For Queen & Country]Studio Escape NipponbashiEscape roomIRLOur second game at Studio Escape is one of the most impressive escape rooms we’ve ever played! Really strong story, creative puzzles that make perfect sense in the well-utilised space, and mindblowing tech and special effects. Super fun experience with laugh-out-loud jokes and cinematic aesthetics. Deserves all the praise!
SeanceThe Cool SpaceEscape roomIRLWhat a truly unique and fun experience. We had some reservations about the whole game taking place in a single room where you remain seated the whole time, but the designers ingeniously kept the game engaging, atmospheric and immersive with a cool storyline, varied puzzles that fit flow and fit the theme, and some well-timed scares that my kids (11 and 12) had no problems with. Definitely a worthwhile experience for newbies and enthusiasts alike. Can’t wait for their new room!
