Darkness FallsEscape Games Melbourne - Escape Room MelbourneEscape roomIRLReally enjoyed this room and glad we did it in a big group as there were a lot of puzzles! We really enjoyed the mixture of puzzles to complete and made a mad dash at the last second to escape just in time. The room flows well, we just needed to communicate with each other to ensure we knew what clues had been used where.
Benito's Lost Pirate TreasureQueenscliffe Maritime MuseumEscape roomIRLLoved this escape room! The theming was fantastic, set perfectly within the maritime museum. Puzzles made sense and flowed well, we only had two minor issues which were purely based on us not paying close enough attention. Excited to find out that they change the room yearly so we can keep coming back.
Gold RushExcapeEscape roomIRLThe theming of this room was really fun, definitely felt like we'd stepped into the old west. There was a lot going on with lots of clues to match up, definitely not a linear game, but we were able to make sense of everything and escape without a clue.
The Gaol BreakAdventure Rooms - Melbourne (Little Collins St)Escape roomIRLAnother great room from Adventure Rooms. Started off separated and needed to use teamwork to help each other reunite which was different and fun, great variety of puzzles, were able to get through the room without a clue as it all flowed really well and all made sense, looking forward to trying the rest of their rooms.
The Mad ScientistAdventure Rooms - Melbourne (Little Collins St)Escape roomIRLWe really enjoyed this room. There were lots of different puzzles and clues, some were really fun and different, everything flowed really well so we didn't need any hints (apart from when my husband misplaced one of the clues 🤪), gamemasters were also great.
Green HospitalEscape Artistz Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLWas a bit disappointed with this escape room. It wasn't terrible but was definitely not up to the standard we've come to expect after visiting places such as Rush and Curium. There was no back story provided before entering the room, something that's pretty stock standard with escape rooms. There was no timer anywhere so we don't even know what time we escaped in, it wasn't mentioned by the game master when we came out. One of the combinations didn't work when we entered it so we spent a good amount of time trying to figure out what we needed to do next before asking for help and finding out that what we had initially done was in fact correct but it took another 2 attempts to open it. One of the other puzzles didn't actually make sense to us, we're pretty sure it was a bad clue because we have no idea how to come to the conclusion they had from the clue that was given. Lastly, the ending of the room was actually a bit confusing and we weren't actually sure if we'd completed it or not, don't want to give any spoilers so won't go into any more detail. Apart from all of those things, the rest of the room was not bad, there were great jump scares and it flowed reasonably well with some different puzzles to solve, but we won't be going back to try their other rooms.
The OrphanageThe Great Escape - Bendigo [prev. Breakout Bendigo]Escape roomIRLWe really enjoyed this room. Completed with 2 people, would be crowded with 4 or more. The first part was a little challenging but we were really happy overall with how everything flowed and made sense. Puzzles were challenging enough to keep us busy but not so challenging that we needed to ask for a hint. The story was good and puzzles all linked well with the story.
The Last Of ThemRush Escape Game - St KildaEscape roomIRLAnother great room at Rush, all flowed beautifully, a few distractions that weren't necessarily red herrings as they contributed to the story but we didn't have any trouble knowing what we needed to do to move forward. Game masters were brilliant as always, we love our post escape room chats with them 😊
The Shadow CircusExtreme EscapeEscape roomIRLEnjoyed this room, if you don't like clowns steer clear! Although non linear, the room flowed well and all the puzzles made sense, some quite simple, others more challenging. Comfortably completed with two of us.
SpellboundExtreme EscapeEscape roomIRLOverall enjoyed the room. Moody theme, puzzles were challenging enough to keep you busy but easy enough to be able to solve on our own, one of them just didn't make sense - we understood how to solve it but the answer we were getting was not correct. Second part of the room smelled a bit musty.
Alice In WonderlandRush Escape Game - St KildaEscape roomIRLWe really enjoyed this room, the atmosphere was great. Fun and interesting puzzles, one was just a little bit fiddly and held us up but apart from that it all flowed well.
ExtractionThe Curium ExperienceEscape roomIRLThis is the best escape room I've done! We enjoyed it so much. 4 was the perfect amount of people to be able to work together to solve all the puzzles without stepping on each other's toes, it would be a bit of a challenge with less people. The game flowed beautifully and you can tell a lot of care and thought has been put into the game story and amazing design. Can't wait for the next room to be completed, we'll definitely be coming back.
Challenge RoomsHijinx Hotel - ChadstoneEscape roomOther We had so much fun at Hijinx Hotel! If you're after an escape room, this isn't it, but if you love a good challenge and want to have some fun this is a great place to visit. It contains a series of challenges for you to complete in 4 minutes. It was definitely more physically demanding than we expected, so be prepared to move. We did it with just the 2 of us which was fine but you can score better with more people, 4 or 5 would probably be a good amount.
The SyndicateTime is KeyEscape roomIRLI think this room is better than our experience left us feeling. There were a couple of things that didn't go to plan meaning the game master had to come into the room and interrupted the flow of the game. The puzzles themselves were fun and we enjoyed the room, there was one particularly tricky puzzle that we didn't understand which made sense once explained, not sure if we would have got there on our own. It was a little different to other rooms as the puzzles all didn't need to be done in a particular order to get through the room, neither good nor bad just different.
Treasure Island [prev. The Black Pearl]Rush Escape Game - St KildaEscape roomIRLWe really enjoyed this room. Took the 2 of us about half an hour (can't remember our exact time) and we were left wanting more (in a good way). The puzzles were fun and different and the room definitely captured the atmosphere. There were a couple of things that we got distracted by but overall the flow was really good and our game master Laura was great and fun to chat with.
SurvivorLost in Melbourne - Flinders LaneEscape roomIRLWe loved this room, lots of challenges and different puzzles and it definitely had the scare factor. The last part was challenging for just 2 of us, would definitely have been easier with a couple of extra people, but we got there in the end.
Wizarding Wands - CLOSEDThe Great Escape - Bendigo [prev. Breakout Bendigo]Escape roomIRLWe really enjoyed this room, was lots of fun with plenty of different puzzles to solve and some features we haven't seen before in escape rooms. There was 2 of us and we were able to complete the room in good time with no hints. The puzzles were hard enough that we didn't blitz through quickly but easy enough that we were able to solve them without help. Owner Suzanne is lovely and we had a nice chat with her about all things escape rooms.
Raven HillEscape Games Melbourne - Escape Room MelbourneEscape roomIRLThis was a fun room, some good challenging puzzles, we got stumped on one which was a little tricky but the rest of the room flowed well. The story was good and the room themed well.
MotelEscape Games Melbourne - Escape Room MelbourneEscape roomIRLThis was an interesting room. Initially there wasn't much to go off and we definitely got sidetracked by a bit of a red herring. There was a lot going on throughout the experience which made it challenging to figure out what were clues (plenty of red herrings) and we were definitely kept on our toes. Apart from one puzzle we were stumped on, we were able to work out way though the room without too much difficulty but this was definitely a more challenging room than Raven Hill which we also competed here.
The Killer's GameTime is KeyEscape roomIRLWe really enjoyed this room. It was quite spacious and there were lots of clues around so we had to work to match up what went with what but it still flowed pretty well. A nice surprise towards the end added to the fun and the challenge. We were able to work our way through with only 1 clue. Looking forward to when they add their next room. Nice to have something out this way too.
