Legend of the YetiThe Escape Game - OrlandoEscape roomIRLFor the average guest, it's still an acceptable room. For an enthusiast who knows what The Escape Game is capable of, however? This isn't up to their usual standards. At the end of the day, it's just a rethemed version of Gold Rush with fewer puzzles, most of which are incredibly linear and less technologically-driven than its previous iteration. In terms of scenic, Legend of the Yeti starts out strong but also just gets worse as you progress, ending with an extremely anti-climactic final room. Do it for the credit, but this one just seems lazy after playing everything else The Escape Game has to offer.
Bigfoot: Secrets of The SwampThe Escape Ventures - Orlando I-DriveEscape roomIRLOverall, great ambiance and a large number / wide variety of puzzles to keep everyone engaged. Unfortunately, the room is also kind of falling apart at this point and in desperate need of repair: there were several exposed wires, broken props, and malfunctioning puzzles.
Galactic Beef: The Cosmic Adventures of Star CowDoldrick's Escape RoomEscape roomIRLThis one is in that tough spot between a thumbs up and thumbs down. While I enjoyed the room overall in terms of its puzzles and fun story, overall it's simply not worth the "premium price" of a 90 minute room, as somewhere between 33-50% of that time is spent watching videos and doing repetitive activities.
DraculaLockbustersEscape roomIRLTerrible signposting, massive logic leaps, and some questionable design choices. Unfortunately, Lockbusters remains near the bottom of my ranking of locations in Orlando.
Cornstalkers: Lost in the MaizeThe Escape Ventures - Orlando Waterford LakesEscape roomIRLEscape Venture's best room to date! It has everything I'm looking for in a room: great theming, a jaw-dropping set, logical puzzles, and some absolutely adrenaline-pumping moments.
Phantom Files: The Investigation Of Lockturne ManorThe Escape Ventures - Port CharlotteEscape roomIRLAnother solid room from Escape Ventures! Set design was amazing and just kept surprising throughout, with a solid story that was just a little spooky but not without plenty of laughs. Where I think this room could be improved is with its puzzles, some of which simply felt a bit drawn out or involved a bit more "guess and check" than I usually care for. Phantom Files could easily be a standard 60 minute room, or have a few additional puzzles added to justify its 90 minute playtime!
Click 'N Glitch Arcade PalaceThe Escape Ventures - Port CharlotteEscape roomIRLA fun "retro" theme with great sets, props, and puzzles that fit the theme. Although we found it mostly pretty easy, there were a few great elements towards the end of the game that really stood out and made Click n' Glitch really shine!
Teleporter TrialsLock, Clock, and Peril Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis is truly a hidden gem and absolutely worth the drive. Teleporter Trials was filled with immersive elements, comedic moments, and surprises around every corner. Tanya and Paul are clearly very passionate about building rooms that are not only fun, but unique as well. I cannot recommend this room enough!
Tomb RaidersLock, Clock, and Peril Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLAn absolute must-do! Tons of well-integrated puzzles, with several awesome twists and surprises along the way. Truly an incredible use of space that makes progressing through Tomb Raider super memorable and exciting!
WreckedMasterpiece EscapesEscape roomIRLHad an absolutely amazing time! Uriah is so passionate about his rooms and was an amazing and generous host. Wrecked in particular stood out during our visit due to several unique and clever puzzles that were well-executed within the story and theme of the room. Several great scares along the way to boot!
Metro MayhemMasterpiece EscapesEscape roomIRLThis was a surprise hit! A bit campy, kind of cheesy, and just all around fun. There were several great surprises and some truly unique and interactive puzzles along the way!
Masters Of MagicGatlin's Escape Games - The VillageEscape roomIRLA combination of questionable GM directions, worn-out props, and unsatisfying solves made this a less than stellar experience. We were given a tip early on in the game to bring certain items with us to avoid return trips to the starting room, which led us to assume that we would not need to backtrack. That assumption was incorrect. When asked about how he were supposed to solve the final puzzle, we were basically told it was "guess and check" when in reality it's more likely the props were just too faded to read. We were audibly walked through multiple parts of the game as well, perhaps due to past technical failures or guests not doing the tricks correctly. All of this completely ruined the magic. Hopefully the Pigeon Forge location's updated version fares better!
The Legend of AtlantisGatlin's Escape Games - Downtown GatlinburgEscape roomIRLSome very difficult puzzles, but we also found them very straightforward and fun. Tech aspects worked perfectly - this was our personal favorite of the trip. Beth was an amazing guide!
Robot RebellionThe Bureau Adventure GamesEscape roomIRL904 Robots Saved! Definitely not a typical escape room experience, but more of an interactive video game. I can see why some people get frustrated with this, if they're unaware of what they're signing up for. We didn't have any tech issues. There are a few changes I'd like to see implemented to make the room feel a bit more fair and interactive, including better tracking of how many robots you've saved and not locking out games after a certain amount of correct solves. Overall: something different than you might be used to and an enjoyable experience for most gamers, but might not be for the typical escape room crowd.
House of Darkness - CLOSEDHour to MidnightEscape roomIRLThe majority of this room is in complete darkness, which isn't something you see too often and lends itself to some cool puzzles. The addition of "extra credit" puzzles was strange to us; we wish every puzzle had been required to exit, because otherwise the experience feels like it could be rather short. I'd recommend completing everything the room has to offer before leaving - though it isn't 100% clear in the moment exactly what puzzles are needed to escape. Overall a solid experience. Will definitely be back in the future to check out their other rooms!
Chloe (Draper) - CLOSEDAlcatraz Escape Games - DraperEscape roomIRLIf you're looking for an immersive haunt that will scare the daylights out of you, this will deliver. One girl in our group had to leave early. If you're looking for an escape room, steer well clear. Completely illogical puzzles with zero signposting, and no hints given when you get stuck. Things just seem to "happen" after enough time has passed, and it's neither rewarding nor fulfilling not having a clue what's going on for ten to fifteen minutes at a time.
