Holcomb’s Lost GoldBig Bear Escape RoomEscape roomIRLThe room was very immersive and Tanner did a great job setting the tone. The hint system did require him coming into the room to help but he stayed in character throughout. There were a few different puzzles we haven’t encountered before and required us to ask for help to crack them. The flow of the room was really good and was fairly easy to figure out what we needed to do next. Overall a fun room with mainly mechanically locks and a few technical.
Special Ops: Mysterious MarketThe Escape Game - HonoluluEscape roomIRLFirst time doing an escape room in Hawaii but have done plenty in Cali. We’ve done 3 escape rooms with this company and this room so far is our least favorite. It just didn’t vibe well and honestly had no idea where to start right off the bat. This room is linear but doesn’t lead you to what needs to be done next so it had us stuck on quite a few puzzles. We still had fun but not as much fun as the other rooms. Doing it with two people was also rough but we managed!
Timeliner: Train Through TimeThe Escape Game - HonoluluEscape roomIRLThis game is one of my favorites out of the other games we’ve played. The theme, atmosphere, and puzzles were all amazing and fun! There were mainly high tech puzzles with a few mechanical. We did it when two people but i recommend about 3 maybe 4 people as the room is small. The room is linear so perfect for a smaller group size. Definitely try this room out it’s a lot of fun and does feel like you are on a train!
The Curse of The H.M.S Constantine 1.5Atlas Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis was our first escape room in Colorado but we have done plenty in Cali. The room was super decked out with the theme which gave it the best atmosphere. There were a lot of puzzles so I recommend a group of 4-5 and it is nonlinear. It was a lot of fun and I recommend! Included puzzles we haven’t experienced before so that was cool.
The DogHouseEscape Room 66 - Laguna HillsEscape roomIRLThis was our first time visiting this company and it was amazing! This game is very kid friendly but also enjoyable for adults too. The atmosphere was very fun and felt like you were playing the game of clue. There is a ton of puzzles so I recommend a team of 4. There was a good mixture of different puzzles we haven’t experienced and mechanical which is appreciated. This is one of the harder rooms for this company but I’m excited to try the next ones!
Mine Under The CityExit West BroadwayEscape roomIRLThis was our first time doing an escape room out of the country and it wasn’t the best. The puzzles theme was a bit outdated. It was extremely difficult for two people so I recommend more than 3 people. Having the game master come walk all the way down the hallway to tell us a hint took away from the experience and our time.
Siren's CoveEscape Hour Point RustonEscape roomIRLDefinitely the most immersive room I’ve ever been in!! From the story to the decorations to the puzzles, it truly felt like we were on a mission to find the treasure. I will say that this was one of the biggest rooms I’ve ever done with the most amount of locks and puzzles. I would recommend at least 6 people as you will need to do a lot of running around. I would also recommend not wearing black pants as you will be crawling. Our game masters were SUPER nice and stuck to their characters to make it that much more immersive. Would love to do the rest of their games for this company and would recommend it to all enthusiasts!
Santa’s Naughty or Nice List - CLOSEDWild Goose Escapes - IrvineEscape roomIRLWe saw this game was closing on their Instagram so our group wanted to try it out on February 1st Lol! Walking into the room, it immediately felt like it was Christmas time again. I think my favorite Christmas one so far! There was a lot of puzzles which made it feel overwhelming but having a group of 3-4 people is a good amount. It was a nonlinear room as well.
Moriarty's ManorMindFox EscapeEscape roomIRLThis room was very well done in mixing mechanical locks and technical locks. The technical aspect was a lot of new experiences for us and haven’t seen a room do it the way they do. Overall a very immersive room and would highly recommend! This room is much bigger than the Black and White Cafe and I would recommend at least 3 for enthusiasts. Only downside is there is no physical timer in the room to let you know how much time has elapsed. You get an update on time every 15 minutes or unless you request one.
Black and White CafeMindFox EscapeEscape roomIRLEver since I found this room off Morty I’ve been dying to do it and we finally did! Man I loved everything about this little cafe! I would say for escape room enthusiast you’ll enjoy a little more of a challenge with only 2 people like we did. If you want to experience the game a little easier I would say 3-4. The room is small but also non-linear which is why I recommend the different amount of people. This room has puzzles that were very different from other rooms with a mixture of mechanical and high tech. It was a lot of fun!
The HeistThe Escape Game - IrvineEscape roomIRLThis room was fun and one of the more difficult rooms 8/10. It was interesting to feel like you were in a tiny art museum. I would recommend a group of 4-5 people for this room since it was a smaller room. Our GM was cool and we always love doing escape rooms at this company. The GM couldn’t tell me if the room was linear when I asked but it was.
RockBand - CLOSEDEscapade GamesEscape roomIRLThis room was one of the more immersive rooms I’ve done. It truly felt like walking into a recording studio to get ready for the battle of the bands. With the help from our roadie we were able to escape fairly easily. It’s one of the easier rooms we’ve done as the puzzles weren’t complex or hard to understand. The beginning was slightly hard to get started but once we got going it was easy to find the next puzzle to solve. We loved all of the technical aspects of the room and getting to play instruments. No musical experience/ knowledge is needed! Super beginner friendly and a fun atmosphere. This company does hold Zoe reborn so sometimes in the waiting room we could hear the music through the walls. Our GMs were great and Clover was so nice to answer all of our questions about Zoe when we finished our own room.
Lost City - CLOSEDEscapology - Fisherman's WharfEscape roomIRLWe wanted to redeem our experience from Antidote since it was just simple by doing a bit of a harder room for the two of us with Lost City. It was giving an Indiana Jones vibe, the atmosphere in this room was a lot better! Like the other ratings there is this one puzzle that you get stuck on which took a lot of our time but we escaped it using all of our “free” hints. This room is also linear and I would suggest about 2-3 people at least.
Antidote - CLOSEDEscapology - Fisherman's WharfEscape roomIRLThis was our first escape room ever in San Francisco, however we do plenty in Orange County. This room is one the easier medium side of things it was a decent room to do nothing special or amazing just okay. We don’t know if it was just us but the music was pretty intense. We understand the aesthetic of music in an escape room but it didn’t match the ambiance. It was very simple linear room.
Inheritance - CLOSEDMission ManorEscape roomIRLWhile I was impressed with the idea of the room and the hidden doors that’s about all I liked. There wasn’t anything wrong with the room just nothing exciting or new either. The puzzles were mainly physical with almost all lock combos. Understanding which puzzle’s clues lead to which locks were confusing at times. Would definitely recommend doing with more than 2 people as there were things we overlooked as we were pressed on time. Unfortunately we didn’t get out in time but our game master Mal was nice enough to let us finish.
Jester [prev. Jester's Revenge]No. 1 Escapes - Main StEscape roomIRLThe beginning of this room is technically started in 2 different rooms as they split your group. For the most part the room was linear and the puzzles were a mix of mechanical and high tech. Unfortunately there is no clock/timer so you won’t know how long you have left unless you ask. Would recommend having 3-4 people for this room but can be managed with 2. There were a few puzzles that they had that we’ve never seen before so it took us some time to figure them out. Crawling is required. The puzzles and flow of the room was overall about average.
Principal's OfficeEscape Room Era - AnaheimEscape roomIRLI honestly don’t know how to feel about this escape room like my group had fun but it was weird plot twist towards the end that left us confused and weirded out by with the story. The puzzles itself were mainly high tech and a few different but still did have a few mechanical. There was one particular puzzle that left us stranded for a while but we were able to escape. Our game master was very nice and did a great job acting! I would suggest only 2-3 people since it is one room and not that big. Also, be ready to give one persons phone number up as that is the way the game master communicates with you and there is no viability to see how much time is left.
Starship | Interstellar EscapeWild Goose Escapes - FullertonEscape roomIRLOne of my favorite escape rooms ever!! So immersive and high tech games I have ever played! This one is fun for all ages and a must do. It’s an escape room that also feels like a video game at times. So my group and I did this room during beta testing and had so much fun even when there were a few items needed fixing it was a great time! A group of 4 is a perfect amount as there is a lot of puzzles to do in this game.
The Curse Of The Black KnightEscapeX Rooms - IrvineEscape roomIRLThis room was fantastic! Definitely up there with one of my favorites with the vibes of trying to break the curse of the black knight. It was linear and a good group of 4/5 due to small spaces but also it’s a lot of different levels of floors. It was the most physically active room we’ve ever done so far. We’ve done all the room for this company and it was my favorite out of the 3!
Mafia Heist - CLOSEDEscapeX Rooms - IrvineEscape roomIRLThis was my least favorite room to do out of these 3 that are from this company but still recommend to try if you want a challenge. The puzzles were a little bit difficult due to it being a non-linear room. This room is a little similar to the Tipsy Tailor as in you can do more puzzles to not only escape the room but to earn points/money. It was a little difficult to see and of course our flashlight died on us. There were a few puzzles that were different which was cool to see. The one part that threw me off was you couldn’t tell the time left in the room and to get hints you have to wait for the phone to ring to answer it and got lucky if they gave you a clue.
