Hope's End is a masterclass in immersive storytelling. Your experience starts the minute you walk in the door. Every nook and cranny of the lobby tells a story. You will leave with memories that will linger for a lifetime. We had a group of 12, and everyone walked away with a personalized memory that they will remember forever. Without revealing too much, they split us up into two groups and from there, we were transported into a world that is part theater and part escape room. The narrative that they share with you will tug at your heart strings, and it truly is nothing like I've experienced before. Parking is super easy. Finding the entrance of the building may be difficult, but don't be deterred if you see what looks like an abandoned door. You're probably in the right place.

Wowowow. This is the room that you will tell people about simply because of the wow factor. I’ve seen some impressive set designs for escape rooms but this is the most impressive yet. I felt like I was in a cross over between Treasure Island and Indiana Jones. You just wish that you could stop and appreciate the immersion but you can’t, because time is running! The puzzles were not satisfying to solve for me. It started off great, but then when we asked for a hint, our game master was inattentive. When we asked for a clue, her clues were things that we already knew, which she would have known if she was watching us. She also did not make conversation with us as we walked down the long hallway and after our hour, she was short with us when we asked about certain puzzles in the room. I personally don’t like how I can identify the puzzles that annoyed me because there was assumed knowledge. A good design would not have made those assumptions. I don’t think my dislike would actually affect the rating of this room but I think they need to decide what storyline they want to go with, or make the storyline a little more cohesive. Also, one of the puzzles made our teammate nauseous and that would have been good to know beforehand.

My partner and I were looking for an escape room and this location won awards so we took the chance. We drove out from Baltimore and we were not disappointed. We escaped the Crane Manor for two people at the 57 minute mark, so it is definitely doable with a duo but could also be enjoyable with a group of three to four. The puzzles were intuitive and stayed true to the story. The production is also of the highest quality. I could see why this location has the reviews and is very well-liked by enthusiasts!

The puzzles in this escape room are nothing short of genius. You find yourself in Edison's laboratory, unraveling the inner workings of his greatest inventions. I found every puzzle to be intricately tied to the storyline, ensuring a good flow. Set design is impeccable! From the vintage laboratory equipment to the warm, ambient lighting, every detail contributes to a sense that you are in the late 19th century. The puzzles were visually stimulating and sensory. Some puzzles may not be so ADA accessible, but you don't need a deep understanding of scientific concepts to progress in this escape room. There is a maximum of 8 people. We had a group of 7 people, and while we managed, I think a group of 8 would have worked just as well because there was so much to do.
Operation Gryaznayavoda

Operation Gryaznayavoda or OG is a memorable eclectic room in Portland. The storyline is unique, our game master is hilarious, and the puzzles feel rewarding to solve. There are only 2 rooms in this location so if you have to choose one, choose this one! Highly recommend getting a group of 3-4 for this room. We did it with a group of 3 and it took all of us. Parking is limited so get there early. The location may be tricky to find too but it’s all part of the experience.

From the moment I walked into this escape room, I was in love! This experience easily makes it to my Top 10 escape rooms, and I’ve only done around 50 so far! The puzzles are well balanced such that there was never a dull moment. The puzzles are a combination of tactile and mechanical. There is so much to do, but all the puzzles make intuitive sense and splitting up with strong communication is key! Our game master was welcoming and attentive to us as well. Ideal group is 4-5 players. Highly recommend this room but all the rooms in Brain Games Escape Room have wowed me with the immersion, production, and puzzles so far! There is a parking lot in the back!

This is a must-do room. Let me start this review by sharing that there is a live actor. The live actor is critical to your game play. We had a group of 8, and we came in looking to see how much fun we can have with Lord Garrick. Our Lord Garrick was able to roll with how silly we were. Because of the live actor, I would say that this room is lighter on the puzzles. The time does start with the live actor there, so just be on the lookout for that. As for the storyline, it flowed well. I am happy to report that Quest Tavern's reputation is well-founded! We had a group of 8, and had a blast but the second room is a little small. I would recommend not everyone going in there if you have a big group.
Irvine School of Wizardry and the Goblin's Secrets

I've been waiting for this room to open for so long, and finally - the wait is over! I am happy to report that this room is on par, or would I even say - more magical - than the first room at this location. There were more puzzles and the theme of the puzzles made sense. Because they are working on other puzzles to be done in the same room for their next escape room, there were a lot of red herrings so I would just be on the lookout for that. I think the ideal group number here is four! We had a group of four and the puzzle work felt balanced on our end.

There is a reason that this room gives you a 90-minute time limit. We had 8 group members for this room, and there were so many puzzles to solve that it really took all of us communicating with each other to do! Their advice, and an advice that I would highlight, is to divide and conquer. This may mean though that each person's experience would be different. After the escape room, I would suggest going over the puzzles that you completed with each other. I would not recommend this room for beginners but this is doable for a group with varying skill levels. As for the puzzles themselves, the puzzle that I worked on did not have confirmation that we already accomplished this puzzle - so there was a lot of time “wasted”. The other puzzles seemed to have a song that plays upon completion! Some of the puzzles were not as intuitive either but it was overall a good time. The location may be hard to find. You will see a nondescript black door. Parking could be a challenge too in Koreatown. Ideal group number would be at least four people, and the more the merrier.

In Lab Rats, we found ourselves taking on the role of test subjects, tasked with solving a series of scientific challenges to escape. The storyline provides an excellent foundation for a science-themed escape room, creating a sense of playfulness and urgency. The puzzles and challenges in Lab Rats are the heart and soul of the experience. With the exception of one puzzle, which slowed down our momentum, the experience was cohesive and immersive. There was complexity and variety. Sometimes, you get a high-tech prop. Other times, the puzzle requires communication. Without revealing too much, there is a creative use of water that I haven't seen anywhere else. Our game master did not have to do too much, but when they did, they guided us without revealing too much and allowed us the right amount of challenge. The set design makes or breaks experiences for me and I really like the set design and the videos created for this story. Be careful walking down some of the hallways though. I was not looking at where I was going and ended up bumping into a couple of walls - like a true lab rat. Parking is on the street. We came on a day that was not too busy, and we did not have too much trouble. As always, plan accordingly!
