RobotopiaOmescape - SunnyvaleEscape roomIRLThis might be my favorite escape room I’ve ever done, hands down. An incredible number of puzzles are crammed in and the production value is probably like nothing else I’ve seen yet. The atmosphere, props, and complexity are all perfect. There is a live actor component that is not scary at all and really added to the whole experience. Has two different endings to pick from. This is the room I always compare everything back to, and I’m itching to come back to Omescape to try the others!
The StorykeeperLocurioEscape roomIRLThis puzzle room was an absolute joy to experience. The live actors go above and beyond a simple script to help set the tone and are a key part of what makes this room special. Puzzles were well thought out and the storybook props / atmosphere were truly magical, immersive, and very high production. The hint system is via an iPad and clues felt custom tailored without detracting from the immersion. We accidentally “broke” one of the mechanisms and cheesed our way past a critical puzzle, but it didn’t interrupt the play. I wish Locurio could make a whole world of different puzzle rooms built off this premise— I will be sure to try and come back to play Vanishing Act!

The Great Houdini Escape RoomPalace GamesEscape roomIRLAwesome room, tons of puzzles to sink your teeth into! This might be one of the most parallelizable experiences I’ve ever done to date— very good option for larger groups. Everyone can easily be working on something alone. One note: the company is very open about the fact this is their oldest room and lots of the items in this room are very very old and irreplaceable, so unsurprisingly some of the mechanics were a bit finicky and didn’t work perfectly even when we had the right answer. But this didn’t detract too much from how enjoyable this room was! A don’t miss!
Mystery Manor60 to Escape - SchaumburgEscape roomIRLCute haunted house vibe! Great props and atmosphere, good flow with puzzles. Had a good time with this one. :) Our group was a bit too big for the amount of content here. Perfect for 3-4!
AlchẽmiaaMazed Games Room EscapeEscape roomIRLLovely little game we played on our brief trip to Helsinki! Atmosphere is really pretty, the nature and mysticism themes advertised were well done. Few tricky puzzles that we needed hints to push us over the edge. Good parallelizability of puzzles. Website advertises use of AI, which was a little wonky in practice but easy to correct and still cute. This room has two choices in ending!
Blast From The Past60 to Escape - GurneeEscape roomIRLLove a cute nostalgic arcade theme! I appreciated the vintage arcade game machines used to build out this escape room, and there‘s some pretty cool tech built into the latter half.
Museum Heist60 to Escape - GurneeEscape roomIRLThis was a lot of fun! It has some laser based puzzles which was new and something I hadn’t seen before. The tech behind the set up of this room is pretty impressive as well, and there is a lot of moving around carrying props.
Jurassic Outpost60 to Escape - SchaumburgEscape roomIRLSuper immersive Jurassic Park themed room! Decorations and design was all very cool (some of the best I’ve seen), and the puzzles fit squarely right into the theme. Big picture wise the progression is a bit linear, but after the first room there is good parallelizability even for our group of 8. It is touted as this location’s hardest room and I would say that is a fair assessment! Ending is choose your adventure, with a very cute high tech tidbit involving a certain dino. ;)
Magician’s SecretMagic Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLFirst room at this location! Even though it’s more on the mechanically simple side of things, you can really feel the passion put into planning this room. It’s a decent option in the Columbus area, and I look forward to seeing this company expand their options!
