Iโ€™m really surprised with how many of these reviews are more negative about this room or mention bad gameplay (including the final room which we enjoyed). We played with a group of 5 and there was always something for every person to be doing and many tasks that we could all work on together. Yes, the room is an older style and doesnโ€™t have the set design that some of their other rooms have but itโ€™s still a really fun time with a nice mix of puzzles.

The concept for this escape room company is interesting however Iโ€™m not sure it all translated. Our group was a little unsure which of our decisions could alter the gameplay and it seemed to us like it was just one decision at the beginning and end. The beginning is so narrative heavy that we were confused and overwhelmed over who we were and what our goals were. I do like the way they explain the game rules and love how integrated into the storyline that felt. We ran into several technical issues and had at least 3 puzzles available to us that werenโ€™t a part of our story line but were only told that after spending 10 minutes+ on solving each one. We questioned if the GM was even watching us. Iโ€™m being kind in rating it a thumbs up and thatโ€™s mostly for concept and acting because the puzzles were nothing unique or too challenging. After we finished it, my group was relieved that we hadnโ€™t also booked the second part like we originally consideredโ€ฆwhich is never a good signโ€ฆ

This is an immersive experience unlike any other. The set and atmosphere are amazing. It feels like you are inside a movie. Make sure to look up, as this place is incredibly tall. Thereโ€™s no other escape room experience that compares to it. The rooms just keep going and going. There are a lot of cool elements and tech. As enthusiasts, we didnโ€™t find the rooms very difficult and breezed through the puzzles but it was fun. It is not as physically demanding as the website makes it sound but you will need to be able to crawl and climb steps, but this is done minimally.

Roger. Roger. Roger. The owner Roger, is a treasure of a man. We had a great time chatting with him about his room and the history of Statesville. Beyond being one of the coolest buildings Iโ€™ve ever played an escape room in (and old church, what?!) the room is so well thought out and ties in the history of the town. Every element of the room is intentional to bring you into the world of that room, including how you get your hints. We had the best time here and did not want to leave. If you are triggered by heat, you may struggle with one of the rooms. If you get overwhelmed by music or a soundtrack playing, you may also struggle. If you love a good dance break, we found ourselves dancing multiple times in the room. You need to be able to climb stairs to enter the room. Once in the room, at least one player will need to be able to climb narrow stairs.

We had so much fun at Key to Escape that they had to drag us away. This room involves a good amount of searching (which I love). We had a group of 4 and there was plenty for everyone to do. The soundtrack was fantastic and made customer by Toddrick Hall! Thereโ€™s excellent immersion in the world of Oz. Everything feels clean and well maintained. Lots of fun puzzles. Go play! This room is one of the least physically demanding rooms I have played which is great for accessibility. Thereโ€™s one tight corner but this seems like the most wheelchair accessible game I have played in a while. I canโ€™t recall if there is a ramp or any stairs to get into the building.
