Sal's CyberneticsThe Immersive MachineEscape roomIRLThis was a great first room to try in Arizona! Scott, our GM, was very nice and welcoming. The place itself was already amazing. They give you a pre-game warm up at the lounge which was interesting. The lounge was exquisite as well. Will definitely recommend to come a few minutes ahead of time and check out the space! We had our parents with us and it was still a fun game. They wanted to see what the hype was with escape rooms and why we were so interested in it. The puzzles were engaging and very well done! Without spoiling the game, there's a very adorable creature in there that I loved! Will definitely recommend if you're in thr area.
Irvine School of Wizardry and the Goblin's SecretsHidden DonkeyEscape roomIRLThis game had a lot of tricks and mirages that we enjoyed. Overthinking the clues to think it to be more clever than what they actually are will definitely make it twice as hard. Nevertheless, the props and the rooms were magical in their own way and I'm very grateful to the GM for giving us a few extra minutes to complete the room!
Stash HouseStash HouseEscape roomIRLHeed the warning but don't let it sway you from trying out this room! Our GM was super chill and nice! I can't believe we did the room without any hints (totally our fault for disregarding props) but very thankful for the GM for allowing us the few extra minutes in completing the room. This room will test critical observation skills, logical and lateral thinking, and will probably force you to work on your communication with the group. Also, kudos to the actor and video they used to introduced at the beginning of the game. It was of quality and didn't look like it was made by a random tween edited on their iPhone (iykyk).
Big Brain Labs60Out - HollywoodEscape roomIRLIt's a unique experience that's less about escaping but more about solving unique puzzles that engages you in different ways. Physically, intellectually, and emotionally (in a way). The puzzles are very creative and has a very engaging design. What I really wanted to note about the room is its attempt to make it accessible for all by placing modifiers to accommodate certain disabilities. Alex was our GM and she was super understanding and helpful! One of our props kind of got stuck that would have prevented us from moving forward but she was able to help move our game along. I'm glad to start our year with this game!
The PerfumerQuest Room - HollywoodEscape roomIRLAlthough we didn't complete the room on within the time, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience! It's interesting how they connected the game to the themes of the movie. The slightly immersion details of their puzzles, combining logic and sensory details was a great change of pace. The only thing that caught us was at the end. Technique for process of elimination will serve you well to save on time.

Da Vinci's ChallengeQuest Room - KoreatownEscape roomIRLI would preface my review and experience in this room to be more related to our bad interaction with the GM rather than the game design itself (though it could probably use an update). Things went downhill as soon as we entered the room. My brother was reprimanded for trying to use the restroom. I had to tell the GM that we will make sure that he completed the waiver when he gets back. Then, he had the audacity to say that our bookings were wrong and that we didn't pay for four people. I explained that it was booked by another GM of QR because of a promotion they had in September but the guy said he had to double check and make sure we can play. I was so put off by his tone I just said to charge us the difference so we can be done with it. It was eventually resolved and the $12 missing from our payment was paid. Idk how management talks about their promotions or whatnot but it felt very disorganized and the implication that we were in the wrong was unprofessional. I wouldn't trust bookings made by the company ever again. The accusatory start to the game threw me off that I was ready to just walk out if it wasn't for my team. The terrible customer service doesn't end at the the door. It seeps through the game. The hint provided in the room was contradictory to the hint given by the GM. The first puzzle we had to do literally said to do one thing and then the hint given was to the the opposite. Then, after completing it, we kept trying to pull on the key which didn't budge. We kept going back and forth on the puzzle then after 30 seconds of us not doing anything else, it just magically worked. This happened several times throughout the game that we were not sure if we actually solved the puzzle or if the GM is opening stuff for us. There are no indicators on what puzzles should be done or how or if it's related to anything at all. We don't even know what the ultimate goal of the room was. Every time we asked for a hint clarifying what the clue we have means, we were given a vague non-answer. Something like "this goes with this" and when asked for further clarification, it was just the exact same thing. My team and I don't necessarily aim to do escape rooms to complete them although that is the goal. We like to enjoy puzzles and enjoy the game, whether we complete it or not. However, this game was just not it for us. Mainly because the GM was just really kind of a d-bag. When the game ended and we asked what one of the puzzles we were working on was supposed to do, we were hit by. "Oh, I can't tell you. You didn't finish the game" followed by a rush to take a photo (I really didn't want to cause I was passed at his attitude and it showed on my face) and to just get us out of the room. I would never go back to this room. I don't even care that we didn't finish it. I was looking forward to see how some of the puzzles worked specially the ones set on the wall, but this GM just turned me off so much that I think we're done with quest room for a while. This was a first for me because QR has some of the most innovative rooms we've done in LA...but it's time to take a break when after the game the only memorable thing we can talk about was how crappy the GM was, then it's a sign we need to take to heart.
Beyond The WardrobeGreatest EscapeEscape roomIRLThis was a 3/5 room for me. Not too terrible but was lacking some things. I had high hopes for the theme but it seemed to dwindle away as you progress through the room. I did the room a few years back so this could have changed. Worth checking out if you're curious or just starting out on escape rooms.
MaledictionQuest Room - KoreatownEscape roomIRLThe room was better than what I was expecting. This was one of those rooms where your mind makes it worse than what it actually is. Definitely worth a try! Replaying the room may also offer a different experience depending on who you do the room with. We appreciate our game master for their creativity and interactive hints with the room!
Mafia60Out - MelroseEscape roomIRLWe really liked the room and the tasks they had laid out for us. It just sucks that the phone had to breakdown at the end and we couldn't complete it all the way through. We worked so hard and we felt robbed of the victory cause of the breakdown lol but the GM was very nice and she guided as through the room very well.
