The Edison Escape RoomPalace GamesEscape roomIRLThe BEST escape room I’ve ever done and our group agreed. The puzzles, the rooms, the story, everything about it was awesome. I can’t wait to go back and do more at Palace Games.
Chapter 1: The Garage - CLOSEDAll Locked UpEscape roomIRLThere were multiple technical difficulties where the game master had to keep coming into the room, ruining the immersion. The story didn’t really make sense and the room was overwhelming with mess but puzzles were easy.
Ghost Ship60Out - MelroseEscape roomIRLGhost Ship was a pretty good room, extremely hard. The beginning was great and we really had to use our brains, but as the room went on the puzzles started to get less and less impressive and at a certain point just started to not make much sense. There were also multiple technical difficulties were we had to ask our game master for help. Thankful we escaped with barely any time left but if it weren’t due to the technical difficulties, we easily would have had at least 10 minutes to spare. Overall it was a good room, but nowhere near my favorite.
The Ghost Of MentryvilleArcane Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLI didn’t love this room. At the time of playing this, there was an actor in the room with you (which was tiny to begin with) and it made things kind of awkward. I get why it was necessary to be in there as he was part of the story, the room was just so small and the puzzles were pretty cheap. We escaped and we had a good time don’t get me wrong, but since there are so many other escape rooms, I wouldn’t recommend this one (unless you’re stuck in the Santa Clarita area).
Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle60Out - MelroseEscape roomIRLJumanji was easily the best escape room I’ve ever done. The rooms felt like a movie set and were so well decorated. The puzzles were exquisite and some I had never seen before. I wish I could play this for the first time again. Highly recommend!
Houdini60Out - Silver LakeEscape roomIRLHoudini was an absolute blast! We had a team of 5 and escaped in 26 minutes! We were told by our awesome host that we easily got top 5 in this room. The puzzles were fantastic, I just wish it was a little longer!
Da Vinci's Secret60Out - HollywoodEscape roomIRLDa Vinci’s Secret is great and a pretty challenging room. Lots of puzzles and lots of brain power. Team work makes the dream work and luckily, I had the right team and we escaped successfully. I’ve played a couple Da Vinci themed rooms and this one is definitely my favorite. Highly recommend!
The Other Side - CLOSEDFox in a Box - Los AngelesEscape roomIRLI absolutely LOVED this room! Most of the rooms at Fox in a Box were great (so sad they’re closed now) but The Other Side was brilliant! I had never played a room like this, I got a major Stranger Things vibes from it. At one point you have to work with your team in a completely separate room and you can’t even hear them through the walls. It was fascinating, I wish I could play again.
Orient ExpressArchitect Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLOrient Express at Architect had great puzzles and an intriguing storyline. It was only me and one other person but we escaped. No technical difficulties and our game master was 10/10, very fun. However, walls in this place are STUPID thin. I mean, to the point where there shouldn’t even be a wall at all. We could clearly hear the conversations that were being had in the room next door and could hear the game master giving hints on the walkie. It was extremely distracting and hard to communicate with my teammate. I don’t want to not recommend this room because of that, just be warned you might be distracted or even hear spoilers for the other rooms.
South Park: Cartman's Escape Room - CLOSEDEscape The Room - GlendaleEscape roomIRLMe and my friends got top 3 in this room! Funny enough, unlike my friends I haven’t watched much South Park so I didn’t know if I’d like this room. I was wrong, this was one of the more fun rooms I’ve ever done. Lots of laughs along the way and some pretty creative puzzles. Especially if you’re a South Park fan, I highly recommend this one!
Amityville60Out - Silver LakeEscape roomIRLAmityville was a decent room for the ‘horror’ enthusiast. The room is very dark and kind of spooky, which carried through the whole experience. There was one technical difficulty which we were stumped on for a while. Our game master didn’t say anything so we figured we did something wrong. When we asked for a hit, our game master asked us questions about the room as if he wasn’t following along with our journey at all. Not a great feeling. We did end up escaping with a couple jump scares. I think if you get the right game master, this room would be great especially around Halloween.
Dracula: The Final Hour - CLOSEDFox in a Box - Los AngelesEscape roomIRLI’m SO sad that Fox in a Box is closed, they had some spectacular rooms, Dracula: The Final Hour being up there. We had a team of 6 and after a few arguments and being jammed in a tiny crawl space, we got out with spare time! The build of this room was awesome, really well made. I hope Fox in a Box opens again, they really knew how to make a great escape room.
Cold War Bunker - CLOSEDFox in a Box - Los AngelesEscape roomIRLAnother great room from Fox in a Box! Pretty challenging and a great atmosphere.
Prison Break - CLOSEDFox in a Box - Los AngelesEscape roomIRLPrison Break at Fox in a Box was SO much fun! The atmosphere felt like a real jail and the hint system was brilliant, I had never seen that method before. The first half of the room was definitely the best part, we slowly started to lose our mojo as time went on but we were still rushing to beat the clock. The puzzles were cool and easy enough for a first timer who was with us to figure them out. We were able to escape with time of the clock! 💪
Mafia60Out - MelroseEscape roomIRLMafia was my first room with 60Out. After playing this, 2 years later I’ve played almost all of the 60Out games in the LA area. Mafia got me hooked! I loved this room and found the atmosphere to be awesome in every room you go in. The story is simple but interesting, our team of 4 loved it. Highly recommend!
The Mystery of Senator Payne - CLOSED60Out - West LAEscape roomIRLThis room is pretty good and the storyline is very interesting. Our game master is what made the experience even better. You can tell the room was built a while ago, so some of the props and puzzles are outdated. It’s also pretty cramped at a certain point so I wouldn’t recommend more than 4 people. Overall though, it was a great time and I’m glad we solved the mystery! 😎
Zodiac Serial Killer - CLOSEDFox in a Box - Los AngelesEscape roomIRLThis was one of my first escape rooms ever and was actually what got me hooked. Zodiac Serial Killer was one of the craziest rooms I’ve played. I won’t go into detail (even though the room is closed now) but starting off chained in a dark room and not being able to move was absolutely terrifying and SO much fun! With 4 people, we managed to get out of our chains, solve the room’s puzzles, and get out in time. Sadly there was one technical difficulty which forced us to get out of the room and then go back in, but it didn’t take away from the fact that this room was spectacular. I wish I could play it for the first time again. We miss you Fox in a Box!
Nautilus60Out - KoreatownEscape roomIRLWe really enjoyed this room. Not so much the puzzles, but the atmosphere and storyline was pretty exquisite. You do feel like you’re in some sort of submarine but also, one of the rooms you enter is so well decorated and peaceful (until something happens) that I didn’t want to leave lol. Overall, I really liked this one and I highly recommend. Just prepare for street parking!
Pirate Bay - CLOSEDMaze Rooms - TarzanaEscape roomIRLPirate Bay at Maze Rooms was meh. I first want to say the employees including our game master were great! No complaints whatsoever, we had a great time and left feeling good. Now if we’re talking about the room itself, it didn’t scratch the escape room itch we were looking for. The puzzles were decent but compared to other rooms I’ve done it just felt cheap. There were also a couple of technical difficulties but out game master solved them for us promptly. If this is the only room you can do in the LA area, then I say go for it, you won’t be disappointed. But I highly recommend other rooms that are in the area if they’re available, you can find better.
Cartel: DEA Undercover - CLOSED60Out - Silver LakeEscape roomIRLThis DEA room was OKAY. The first part (without giving anything away) was cramped and confusing but also something I hadn’t seen in an escape room before. Once we progressed, the fun and excitement started to dwindle down. It wasn’t really until the end we started to get pumped up again. The story just wasn’t very interesting to us. The puzzles were pretty good though and I thought the atmosphere was not too bad either. I would do most of the other rooms at this 60Out location before doing DEA though.
