The Weeping WitchCross Roads Escape GamesEscape roomIRLReally well done. A must even if you're not into horror escape rooms because the story and puzzles were so fun. It was spooky but not too scary for someone who gets scared easily. If you're scared, just hide behind your friends and you'll be fine. It's nice to have at least 1 brave person holding it together! There are lots of puzzles so everyone in the group is always working on something. I had a group of 6 who are all experienced and it was the perfect amount. If you have 4 or less people, you might run out of time with the number of puzzles to solve. Loved that this escape room had a lot of different interactive elements.
The Last SupperQuest TavernEscape roomIRLThis is like immersive theater meets escape room, and it was a blast! This room leans heavily on interaction with a live actor, and that's where it really shines. Light puzzle solving. The puzzles are linear, but the fun comes from how much your group gets into it. So bring friends who are silly, spontaneous, and open to roleplaying. The more you give, the more you get. The immersion level is excellent, and the actors do a great job adapting to your group’s energy. One of my top favorite rooms.
The Curse Of The Black KnightEscapeX Rooms - IrvineEscape roomIRLThis room was quite linear and the space was tight, so this would be better to do on a date with 2 people or 3. We had 4 in our group and felt pretty cramped in certain areas. Also, it was kind of stuffy and hot in there. The room was very cool and unique and the puzzles were interesting. Unfortunately, our experience had a hiccup. When we entered, all the different rooms were already opened and it took awhile for the GM to notice, so that was a bummer. Overall, I still liked the room as a whole.
Black DragonEscape Room LAEscape roomIRLSet design was great and lots of rooms to explore, which was the best part. Very large space. However, I felt like the most of the puzzles were easy and very on the nose. It's only difficult because there's a lot to see and solve in 1 hour. It was very hot in there, so I was uncomfortable, but I guess that's kind of like Hong Kong weather.
Escobar: Part 1 (The Betrayal)The Escape RevolutionEscape roomIRLLoved the atmosphere, the story line, the tactile puzzles, the scale, and the wide range of types of puzzles. Semi linear. Loads of fun! Just play it. More on the challenging side, which made it fun. You just need good eyes and good recall for this room. A group of 5 would be great (or 4-6 depending on skill). This room would be better as a 75 minute room. We asked for 3 hints, all at the end because we were running out of time. Once you get stuck, you really have to pick up the pace.
Ghost StoriesBrain Games Escape RoomEscape roomIRLThis room was very tedious in a not-fun way. We had 7 people solving the different ghost puzzles and we kept asking the GM for the next clue because we had people standing around. Even though everyone was solving something, this was the first room I've done where I couldn't wait for it to end because the way each puzzle started out was very repetitive (20 times for 20 ghosts!). The puzzles were easy and boring. The room is not scary. The live actor was the game master over the intercom, and she wasn't very entertaining unfortunately. While there were some fun elements, overall, I would say this room would be great for a family with kids. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy it.
Prison BreakThe Escape Game - IrvineEscape roomIRLThis is one of my favorite rooms that I've ever done. Loved being separated at the beginning. This was a challenging room, but it was very satisfying. The correct amount of difficulty, and very unique. Great atmosphere. My group had 5 and everyone was able to solve something. 5-6 people would be great. Would be more difficult to complete with less than that.
Grandma's Masterplan60Out - MelroseEscape roomIRLIt was fun, interesting set, but not as challenging as some of the other comments made it seem. Would be best with a group of 3-5 depending on how experienced your group is. We had 6 and at least 1-2 person was standing around at any given point. Second room made us a little sneezy!
