Meow! I'm a Cat.Exit Game OC - AnaheimEscape roomIRLI really enjoyed this! The game flow was really good and the puzzles were cool, cute, and unique. The way they designed the set made you feel like you were really a cat. I like games where they make larger than life sets to put you in the immersive mind of the creature you are supposed to be. There was just enough signposting to nudge you in the right direction without outright telling you, and the puzzles are very well done for families, groups, and kids. So many cute props, if you bring your kids they will love it!!! This is also a must for pet lovers/cat lovers. I just loved the amount if space there is for this.
Room 1985The Locked InnEscape roomIRLAs someone who’s played a lot of rooms, I can confidently say Room 1985 is an absolute standout—one of the most entertaining, immersive, and surprisingly layered games I’ve experienced. From the opening sequence, this room hooks you with a unique intro that perfectly sets the tone of what you’re about to experience. The production value is top-tier, the transitions are seamless, and the puzzles are embedded in the environment in a way that keeps momentum high and frustration low. The room flows beautifully, with multiple parallel paths and interactive moments that keep every player busy. Puzzle density is solid, with a variety of logic, searching, task-based, and tech-driven elements—nothing felt repetitive or filler. We played as a family group: myself, my wife (44 rooms), my dad, and my 4-year-old daughter (both first-timers). The brilliance of Room 1985 is that it’s not just enthusiast-friendly—it’s family-friendly without sacrificing depth. My daughter was fully engaged throughout, thanks to clever design choices that included sorting and task-based elements perfect for younger players or non-puzzlers. She got to search, organize, and interact with the space in meaningful ways, and had a blast doing it. We finished in about 52 minutes, but I’d recommend 6–8 players to fully enjoy the parallel gameplay. There’s a lot to do, and the room is designed so that everyone can be involved at all times—no spectators here. Without spoiling anything: if you’re into retro gaming, ’80s pop culture, or just appreciate a well-paced narrative-driven room with some wild surprises, this game is a must. There are multiple “wow” moments, and a few fun nods for fans that hit just right—like the designer is giving you a wink mid-game. Heather, the owner, was fantastic—super responsive and accommodating with a same-day booking. And Cody, our gamemaster, did a stellar job setting the tone, explaining the rules clearly, and delivering well-timed, minimal nudges that respected our experience level. He also went out of his way to engage with our daughter, making her feel like part of the team before we even stepped into the room. Bottom line: if you’re an enthusiast looking for something unique, nostalgic, and genuinely fun from start to finish—Room 1985 delivers in every way. Don’t miss this one.
Christmas at 13th Basement - CLOSEDExit Game OC - AnaheimEscape roomIRLThis is the Christmas version of the 13th Basement, so instead of just an escape room fanatic storyline, we have a Christmas & escape room fanatic lol. If you like parodies and the horror genre, this game will be memorable and there will be moments where you might just yelp out a tiny scream followed by laughter because of the obvious horror and escape room tropes used. Definitely a great game to play!
13th Basement - Naughty Elf - CLOSEDExit Game OC - AnaheimEscape roomIRLVERY fun game! If you already enjoy their 13th Basement game, you have to try the Naughty Elf version which includes a live actor in the game to just mess with you as an elf. It’s some crude but enjoyable humor and echoes immersive theater plus escape rooms. The fact that it’s already built on top of an already stellar game just makes it feel even better. Basically take the 13th Basement game, make it Christmas, and add an elf trolling you in the game and you got this. Highly recommend!
The RelicLet Me Out Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLLoved this room. It’s pretty hard to impress me with any Indiana Jones/Uncharted/Tomb Raider type of game, but this one impressed me. I’m from SoCal and was only in town to visit family who happened to live 4 minutes from this business. The game is as immersive and sometimes more immersive than some kf the best ones in SoCal. The puzzles were very on point and in-theme, and I appreciate that the props were not “larger than life” but also not “for ants”. Even after playing 160+ games, I was impressed with seeing some puzzles that I have never seen before, and for the ones that I have seen before, their execution was REALLY excellent. The game design and flow was really good, everything had amazing signposting and towards the end you have a big adrenaline rush that makes you feel excited, and the final endgame is super satisfying. I haven’t played any of their other games yet, but this one is definitely a must do if you are around the area and want to avoid the big downtown escape rooms. I am excited to come back and play more if I have time to. Thank you to Xander and Kira for making our time memorable!
Starship | Interstellar EscapeWild Goose Escapes - FullertonEscape roomIRLWarning: This isn’t an escape game… it’s a full EXPERIENCE I have had this game on my wishlist for a long time and after a few failed attempts of trying to play, we finally got the band together to experience this adventure. I am a sucker for scifi and space themes, which also makes me a bit pickier in terms of getting the “feel” right. This game met my expectations and rocketed past them! Even though the traditional escape room puzzle is there, you should expect that the gameplay is mixed with the feeling of actually being in control of a spaceship with crewmembers specializing in different things. In a way, it’s like a real life version of the mobile game Space Team, except more epic and immersive. We know it’s an escape game but we lost ourselves in the world of Starship to the point that we really believed we were flying the ship and traveling through hyperspace. The storytelling of the game is compelling and I loved its use of communications because it follows the tropes you expect from many scifi show spaceships. I really felt like the ship we were in could very well be in Star Wars, Star Gate, Star Trek, or Battlestar Galactica. Set design is definitely next level. Excellent game, probably best for a group of 5, and one I won’t be forgetting about anytime soon.

An Office EscapeCinema Escape Rooms - Los AlamitosEscape roomIRLLate to the party, but you gotta play Cinema Escape Rooms’s Office Escape ASAP! We had such a good time with a mix of The Office casual fans, superfans, and non-fans. Even for myself, as a casual fan, the references were very memorable and hilarious. The puzzles were unique and super fun, and without mentioning spoilers, be ready to bring a large group! The mix of puzzles was welcomed which included things I haven’t seen before and other activities that were just straight up silly fun, and our gamemaster Laurie was very enthusiastic. Excellent game, thank you to Andy, Hannah, and our awesome gamemaster Laurie!
PlaygroundThe Escape Game - IrvineEscape roomIRLThis is an AMAZINGLY FUN game! So much nostalgia and lots of creative activities that are just purely fun. A few surprises that we didn’t expect and the puzzles are pretty unique and intuitive. I haven’t played any other game at TEG but if they’re all like this one, then I can’t wait!
The HideEscape Room Era - AnaheimEscape roomIRLThis was a full-on experience! Our group of 4 was able to get out with lots of time left, but so many moments will be forever etched in our brains. The game really makes you feel like you are in the middle of a horror movie, and it’s probably Escape Room Era’s most technologically and immersive room. Without spoiling too much, there are some really cool moments on the game that really make your group “bond”. Highly recommend for horror lovers! (Puzzles are on the easy side but if they were any harder, we’d be catatonic from fear)
Mysterium - CLOSEDThe Magic CastleEscape roomPop upThis was a Magic Castle limited escape room event, and I really wish it was able to be made into a permanent fixture. The game was so well done! They used one of the main castle stages but changed that whole space into an escape room, and being that it is at the Magic Castle, they had some very creative puzzles with real magician props. If only one day they’d bring it back.. would love to play it again.
Cutthroat Cavern13th Gate EscapeEscape roomIRLSurprise after surprise after surprise… WHAT?! I played this game after doing the Anubis room, and I was thinking nothing can top Anubis’s production value… and I was so happy I was WRONG. This set design is so amazing, and because of the set it made the puzzles feel grand. The actual puzzles themselves, when you think of it, are basic twists on classic puzzles, but because of the sheer grand massiveness of everything, it enhanced the puzzles as well. I do wish the puzzles were a little better, but this room as an experience will probably be in my top escape room experiences or all time for quite a while.
Inventor's Attic - CLOSEDEscape My RoomEscape roomIRLPlayed this in my escape room marathon for my bachelor party a few years ago and still remember how much fun it was. Entering in this business itself already has a beautiful lobby, and this game is no different. The puzzles had lots of cool uses of tech and mechanics, and the use of space was pretty creative. Definitely recommend for people traveling to the area.
Tomb Of Anubis13th Gate EscapeEscape roomIRLAt 13th Gate, this was my first game played. It was insanely difficult for us but the production value is out of this world! The revelations are insane and the first 10 minutes really sets the mood and you immediately forget you’re just playing an escape room. I probably should have had more rest before playing this game… it was mentally draining in a good way. Be ready to think a lot and try to avoid being distracted by the insane production value!
Psycho Room - CLOSEDCAPTVTEscape roomIRLPlayed this early on in my escape room career and it was one of the first few scary rooms we did. I don’t generally scare easily but there was one jumpscare that really got me. Puzzles were really fun and the atmosphere felt like a true murderer’s home.
The Spaceship - CLOSEDCAPTVTEscape roomIRLThe design of the environment was so cool. I remember being impressed with feeling like we were in a real spaceship. The only thing was the walls being made of metal gave us a few static shocks. This was also our first introduction to multilayered puzzles.
The Cave Of Forbidden Truth - CLOSEDThe Grand Detectives SocietyEscape roomIRLThe new game is a solid experience with many, many memorable moments and unique puzzles and challenges that many of us have never seen before. There was more than enough things to do and the theme of the game is so immersive. Speaking of immersion, they probably have one of the best pre and post game immersion experiences I have ever had the opportunity of being involved in. No spoilers, but the ending of this game is just pure joy and fun! Do yourself a favor and check them out ASAP!
Oracle Mystery - CLOSEDThe Unlockables - PowayEscape roomIRLBeautiful set design and the puzzle flow for this game is soooo smooth. Everything made sense from one to another and there was a great balance of types of puzzles.
Prehistoric ParkTrapped Puzzle Rooms - Audio Escape AdventureEscape roomVirtual Really enjoyed this game! It was one of the first remote games I did with a few friends, and it felt a little like D&D but with puzzles and some visual references. The gamemaster was super enthusiastic and really made our whole experience fun and memorable. It really felt like a game with full freedom of doing anything you want since it’s highly interactive with talking to the gamemaster/host.
The Magic CottageInfinity EscapeEscape roomIRLThis is the kind of game you need to play if you are into set design and atmosphere becauss this set is BEAUTIFUL. The tech involved in this game is really cool, though audio could be a little clearer or if there were additional options for audio alternatives. But primarily if you like set design, this is a must play.
