This is my favorite escape room I’ve ever done! The whole saga is a must. The actors were incredible and it was extremely immersive! I will be making everyone I know play this. I’m not a fan a horror and still loved it.

What a phenomenal room! The Escape Artist truly has something special tucked away in Greenville, SC. I was blown away by the commitment to the overall theme, atmosphere, and storyline β€” everything felt so thoughtfully designed and immersive. We only had time to tackle one of the Chimera Saga rooms during our visit, but we absolutely had a blast with Dark Lullaby. The puzzles were clever and satisfying, and the spooky, unique storyline had us hooked from the moment we stepped inside. The set design was fantastic and really brought the story to life β€” it felt like stepping straight into a beautifully twisted dream. And of course, we loved the addition of our new little friend who joined us in the room and helped point us in the right direction when we needed it - they were a dream teammate! 🀑 I absolutely loved the story, the atmosphere, and the attention to detail. Dark Lullaby was a fantastic room, and now I’m even more excited to come back and complete the rest of the Chimera Saga. Hopefully, the next one is just as dreamy… πŸŒ™πŸ–€

Do not let an expectation of fear deter you from challenging this room. It is simply wonderful through and through. There are scare scenes that β€œyou” the player initiates. Therefore, you know when the scary moments are coming about. The puzzles (aside from one) are not difficult. We needed one hint. Our live actor delivered this hint most cleverly through plot narrative, improvising based on our ongoing conversation. This was the most impressive delivery of a hint we had seen. Our group was expecting the room to be more scary than it was. I, in particular, was not triggered by the overall theme of the room. At this point in time, Dark Lullaby stands my favorite of 24 rooms. Bravo!

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

The storyline is what elevates this experience above others we have done.

Story

The best horror story we have experienced to date. No traditional introduction here. This brought you into the dark world in unique fashion.

Difficulty

Medium

We needed one clue as a group of three. There were many more puzzles than we expected but for the most part, we flew through them.

Game tech

Two number locks, three or four locks with keys, and everything else was high tech. Several immersion enhancing elements including vibration plates, hidden fans, magnetic systems.

Scary

Spooky on the verge of scary. The horror scenes take place independently of most puzzle solving.

The first set in particular may be triggering for children who grew up with frequent nightmares.

One actor helped us transition between elements of a puzzle when we were stuck. They delivered the clue by using plot narrative in a most intelligent way.

The expectation of the scares may outweigh what is physically delivered. This was more of a psychologically-induced horror experience.

We did this room as part of the Saga. If you get a chance, that is the best way to play this adventure, but I imagine it is still a lot of fun by itself. Just the right amount of scary and jump scares. Nothing over the top.

We did this room as the second in the saga and it was a perfect fit to the trilogy. I did not find it to be uncomfortably scary but just unsettling enough to fit the theme of nightmares. Amazing room and a must do

I played The Saga, this was the second game in the trilogy. This room had a much darker atmosphere than the first, creating a completely different experience. The puzzles were enjoyable and satisfying to solve, and while the interactive immersion was just okay, it still fit the story well. Overall, it was an interesting room with a unique change in tone from the first installment.

After the comforting innocence of Castle Fluffendor, the trilogy took a dark turn and left us in Dark Lullaby. Much of what I said of Castle Fluffendor holds true, especially the pitch perfect blend of strong puzzling and idiosyncratic set design. What was so impressive, however, was how it was essentially the opposite of Castle Fluffendor in tone yet felt entirely cohesive within the world of Chimera Corp. While Castle relied on magical, whimsical connections and interacting with the cast of characters, Dark Lullaby frequently used innovative, low tech mechanisms (alongside amazing and invisible tech) to create a grittier, more rugged experience. It perfectly deconstructed the whimsy of the previous game while having its own kind of wonder, especially in how the game played with perspective and skewed the mundane much like Fluffendor. By the end, we were not only prepared for the epic conclusion of this trilogy, but experienced a masterpiece in its own right.

Gameplay

The puzzles were on the same level of quality of Castle Fluffendor but also felt entirely different in their own way, perfectly fitting into the world.

Atmosphere

Wow. Dark Lullaby really did feel like a child’s nightmare, surreal and a little cartoonish, but nevertheless deeply terrifying.

Customer service

Our guides provided great performances and helpful nudges!

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

Like Castle Fluffendor, Dark Lullaby replicated a child’s perspective to a staggeringly effective degree, this time adding a malicious tone.

Story

The overarching story began to come together, while the individual storyline in this room was deeply effective.
