“Loved this escape room! Our GM (Grant) was welcoming and so passionate about escape rooms in general. He did a great job setting the scene for us. The room itself was about medium difficulty. Shouldnt be too difficult for ppl who have done 10+ rooms before. My gf and I completed it as a group of two. The puzzles were a good mix of different types, with some fun tech-y ones thrown in, and they all really made us think. This is one of our favorite rooms and we’re looking forward to trying the rest at this location.”

“There are some truly delightful interactions that put a smile on my face in this room. Nothing overly complicated, puzzle or story wise, but it’s overall a very successful room, would be great for kids and parents doing their first room together. Very fun!”

“This one was really cool, although there is one part near the end that I’m still not sure how it worked. I like the incorporation of the little boy in the attic or LBITA helping you as I liked to call it!!!”

“Probably one of the best (if not the best) Egypt game I’ve played. Set was fantastic, interactions were clever and fun, and with the exception of one or two puzzles, a premium, high quality experience. The beginning and ending sections stand out from the rest of the room in particular, but everything is just so impressive and well done that the whole experience is fantastic. And one of the most fun endings of any game I’ve experienced. Very well done.”

“I had a lot of anxiety before going into this escape room. Reading the waiver alone was nerve-wracking. Despite all of the worry, it turned out to be one of my favorite experiences! Playthrough was unique and fun, and following and participating in the story was really memorable. It's probably not for the faint of heart, but it's a great game if you can muster up the courage!”

“What a game. All of the puzzles were high tech. The puzzles were interesting and high tech. No locks at all. All the puzzles were fun and creative. The GM had to help my group when we got stuck, but it wasn’t a hint (stuff like “you have to rotate that” when it wasn’t obvious that we had to). One puzzle was a little broken but it didn’t make too much of an impact. The atmosphere was great”

“What a fun and surprising escape room this is! The theme is hilarious and you slowly uncover the mystery of what happened to grandma. I love that you start out in her house and then progress more and more. Lots of fun hidden places and good use of technology. I did this room with 4 people but you can probably do 5-6 especially if some are newbies. Lots to do and solve and the ending, if you get there, is so fun like you are actually escaping!”

“I’m so surprised that something so rooted to a very specific person in history has inspired not just one, but two whole escape rooms. But Escobar shows that any passionate topic can become an escape room. This room follows the story of drug lord and cartel leader Pablo Escobar. I don’t know much about him, but I feel like I’ve learned quite a bit just from playing the room. Goes to show how educational escape rooms can be! I particularly liked the Colombian set design, and the tasks you get to do in the room feel raw and practical. I even got to do something cathartic that I never thought I’d do in a room. We even had to confirm with the GM if we could do it, which felt wild and a little confusing. My biggest peeve is how strict the room is about time. We were a few minutes late, and we basically had 10-15 minutes taken off our clock… Yea, we shouldn’t have been late, but wow. We ended up escaping, but we needed more hints than usual to make up for the time loss. It is a hard room, regardless, and there is a puzzle that requires you to literally wait a few minutes. I still loved the room despite our experiences, and I do like this one more than Escobar Part 2, which we did immediately after.”

“What I appreciated most about this room compared to similar rooms was how it featured practical hands-on puzzles that utilized the environment rather than making you simply search for codes. It leads to an immersive breakout experience that others wish it could replicate! Even though it follows similar trends like a split start and an office room, the directions the room takes aside from those aspects are novel. The room trusts you with what you are given and makes you figure out the layout of the facility to find your way out. The puzzles are hard too! The biggest issue was how loud certain things were during the split start that made our already limited communication between the separated team frustrating. It’s a hard room, so be proud if you make a great escape! The ending was a fantastic finale after all we had done in the room to get there!”

“One of my favorite escape rooms I've ever done. The experience starts when you show up--the host acts the part. You've joined the crew and are being tested. The rest is up to you. There's some trickery--slight of hand stuff, but all in all it's a really good room. There's this part that's under the bed--a cabinet-like space under the king-sized bed above. I didn't go under there at all, but I hear it's like a room within a room. Some of the puzzles were a little challenging... the records on the wall! I loved it! There was a strong smell in the grow room. God, what a fun room. We absolutely loved it. :)”

“This was my room #200, and I couldn’t be happier with the choice! If you like fun, you should play this game! (This could have been the whole review, but let’s write a little more) From you enter, till you leave, Lab Rat is whimsical, funny and challenging! The puzzles are amazing, the set is amazing, and the theme is amazing! The theme also works perfectly as an excuse for why you’re doing the puzzles, and it makes it so that all puzzles will fit into the room. This was one of those escape rooms that just screams fun, and I am so happy that we got to experience it!”

“Hatch Games is probably my favorite Escape Room company. This game is absolutely fantastic, because it's not only well decorated and on theme, but the re-playability is phenomenal. When you finish, they give you a receipt of your experience, and outline the different endings that you could play for--there are so many! Each of the decades/rooms has enough puzzles that I can see coming back and playing it over and over again, just to try out all the puzzles!”

Unless you’ve visited Hollywood before, it can be hard to describe. It’s sunny, it’s wealthy, it’s full of diverse cultures, and at any given time you might see a famous person at Whole Foods. As you tour the many wonders of this desert dreamland, be sure to keep an eye out for Paramount Studios, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and treat yourself to an In-N-Out Burger (animal style). Aside from these attractions, Hollywood is also alive with some of the most unique and immersive escape rooms in the country. It’s no surprise, given that the city’s name is synonymous with some of the most iconic films of all time. There’s a lot to take in, but if you’re looking to be the star of your own Great Escape, here are the best spots in town.
The escape room scene is alive in Hollywood. Since the first escape rooms arrived in Los Angeles in 2016, the film capital of the United States hasn’t stopped crafting these immersive puzzle experiences. In fact, Los Angeles proper is home to 49 different escape room venues. If you look around, you’ll notice several places that are expanding the definition of experiential entertainment in Hollywood. From the expansive Escape Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard to the innovative Escape Revolution on Melrose Avenue, there’s plenty to experience in the City of Angels. With over 170 escape games in the entire area, the possibilities are nearly endless — you’ll find games with themes of horror, adventure, crime, espionage, and plenty you may not expect.
Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
There are plenty of awesome escape rooms to choose from in Hollywood. The goal of Morty is to make escape rooms more accessible for everyone to find and play.
