“The basement was lots of fun, I really enjoyed the way it starts off. The puzzles during the game could have been more engaging. I still like the elevator shaft and study more but the basement definitely is unique.”

“Truly one of the all time greatest games! I played this many years ago and even after 160 games under my belt still think about and recommend this room to people. The pre-show set up, the set design, atmosphere, puzzles, everything works together so well. When you enter the room you'll think "where the hell are the puzzles?". The set really feels that authentic. Over the course of 45 minutes, the secrets revealed by this tiny room are top knotch and occassionally mind blowing. I still haven't experienced many of the special effects that are used here, in any other room. You must try and play with as few people as possible. Our group of four did great, but I wish it was just 2 or 3 of us.”

“The study was my first room at the basement. It was amazing in every way. Perfect amount of scary and challenging. The actor made the room so immersive and was so kind after the game. I love this location and cannot wait to do more rooms here”

“From a set design and puzzle solution stand point, this was my favorite of the rooms as The Basement. The live actor was absolutely amazing and an integral part of the room. Several of the puzzles are pretty lengthy to solve but can only be done by a few people at a time. Smaller groups are definitely preferred if you want the complete experience. But seriously, how do you make something feel like a true outdoor experience while inside a building?!”

“Dead and Breakfast is a worthwhile compilation of your experience! Note that you will start out of order but that will not detract from your experience. They give you fair warnings before you enter each room with what to expect and the production value and live actors are top notch. I find myself leaning towards the live actor in the study the most as Aiden captured both hint giving and the theme most vividly. It's scary, but not too scary. I think most will manage just fine. I will say that none of the actors lacked passion here. And neither will you.”

“We were the first team to do this room when it opened and it made my top 10. Then we got invited to redo it when they updated it like two years later and it made my top five! I send everyone here because this room is that good, the reviews show overwhelmingly positive because it is. Every element, including staff is supreme. The puzzles are so much fun and the sets are pretty darn gorgeous. You really transport to Atlantis! My only hope for this location is they add a lot more rooms because they do them right!”

“This is a really special company, you can tell they’re so passionate about what they do. This is my favorite game of theirs- it included the perfect blend of intuitive and analytical puzzles and was so much fun!! I did with one other inexperienced player - he loved it. It was definitely difficult but still doable! The ending was possibly the best I’ve ever experienced- do this room!! 10/10”

“I have done a lot of Egyptian pharaoh curse rooms, but this is one of the better ones for sure. I love how this room flows, and it doesn’t depend on high tech, it’s all mechanical. Nothing is overly difficult, but I would still say that it’s a clever experience throughout. I really enjoyed it, and we had 4 experienced players.”

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
