“Started Area 51 thinking it was going to be easy just to be impressed with all the different puzzles this room had in store. It was challenging in the best way possible, throwing unique and new puzzles at my team. I appreciated the unique puzzles and authentic ideas as well as the light up design and atmosphere of the room and all the super awesome props and decorations”

“Certainly on the slightly easier side, although the puzzles are lots of fun. What sets this room apart is the inventiveness of the design and the leaps it takes. Some people here seem to want a more linear, logical story, but that seems limiting as a necessity—the story here does make sense, it’s just one that proceeds according to a different sort of logic. And the end result is a unique room.”

“Probably the best room at this Maze Rooms location. It’s new, it’s fresh, it’s got a fun, recognizable feel and you do all the things you want to do in it. One puzzle was very cheap to my friend and I because they parameters weren’t laid out as specifically as we would’ve liked but with two people and a time just over half an hour, the room kept us moving and entertained continuously.”

“I played this game solo, and it was A LOT of work and a lot of fun! The usage of video throughout was delightful and immersive. Puzzles and props varied wildly throughout the experience, utilizing some classic tropes and some inventive interactions. The plot was thin but enjoyable, and the puzzles were very engaging. As an enthusiast, this room was doable solo, but at least one more person would have helpful, especially for the final couple puzzles that required me to run around like a madman! Staff couldn’t have been nicer; they gave me a free pin and home game for me entertaining them. :)”

“Definitely challenging with two people as there is a lot to get through. We were a bit slow getting started, so we had to rush through the end. But we had so much fun. Rooms aren’t private, so we booked last minute to make sure it was just us, and I’m so glad we did.”

“Loved the variety of puzzles, both technical and mechanical. Really dislike the fact that the reservation isn’t private. We were a party of 3 but when we got there, 4 other people (3 of them children) had signed up. Seven was too many.”

“I’d done two other Escape Game rooms before this one and I was only wary because the two others were amazing. There’s gotta be a weak link, right? Perhaps there is but it’s not this one! Once in the room you’re in an Indian/Middle Eastern-inspired market which is a setting you don’t often see explored in escape rooms. From then on the plot thickens and the puzzles get more high tech. With an abundance of things to solve and pieces to find and work with, the entire experience is a joy to complete. Each set piece used feels great to understand and scratches the mystery part of your brain.”

“Inksidious’ storyline is the weakest part of the game but that being said the whole game is still incredibly fun. Though it’s very lock based, the puzzles you solve to get the codes are creative and different. The style and aesthetic are well-integrated with the theming of the room and it makes use of the space inside the room, making it feel larger than expected. The second room is worth the price of admission.”

“We loved Inksidious and had to come back for the Mush room - I’m glad we did. The room is very thematic and the decor is adorable. The puzzles are so well thought out and there are a ton of them. We had a group of 2 and barely escaped, so I’d recommend more people since this is a non linear room. Highly recommend this room and location.”

“Solid! So much fun! While there was nothing mind-blowing about this one, it's our favorite type of escape room: good production design, and solid, fun gameplay. So many fun moments, and immersive enough to feel like we were transported briefly. A great time!”

“The set design for this one is beyond cool. The use of household appliances of yesteryear immediately immerses you in the 80’s as they intended. It felt like neither the puzzles nor setting took precedent over the other because they melded so well together. The last puzzle, as usual, gave me and my friend a run for our money but we pulled through in the end with no clues. Though the ending wasn’t a great “surprise” for me, it was satisfactory for the room as a whole.”

“This room has a fantastic and dark atmosphere that is properly spooky. There were a couple of jump scares that made my heart skip a beat! Puzzles were linear with no red herrings, and satisfying to complete. Definitely recommend!”

“GM was excellent. This room is very likeable for the story and atmosphere. You can really tell they put a lot of thought into the storyline and immersion. Puzzles are a little on the sedate side, and it trends a little easy, but you should do this room for the experience, not the puzzles. A lot of fun for sure.”

“7.5/10 Fantastic experience. Puzzles were fun, innovative, and the atmosphere/set design was great. Just wish it was a bit longer. Only negative is the age of the room showed. Wear and tear on some puzzles. Experienced players you will get through this room fairly quickly.”

“A very immersive escape experience. Had alot of movie magic moments that made u really feel like you were being haunted by something! Interesting and engaging story with memorable puzzle moments. I wouldnt bring more than 3 people as i felt that it was very linear in some aspects and the experience is best enjoyed in a smaller group as most puzzles do not require multiple hands/participants. A very theatrical and high tech room that is a welcomed edition to the 60 out franchise!”

While Hollywood boasts some the most famous attractions in the world, it is LA’s Westside that arguably showcases the soul of the city. From the beach cities of Santa Monica and Venice, to glamorous Beverly Hills, the Westside offers a wide array of experiences for all to behold, including some of the city’s best escape rooms. If art and architecture is your passion, The Getty Center is a must visit. Or if a relaxing day of shopping and high-end cuisine gets you excited, then the Third Street Promenade might be for you.
Escape rooms have found a loving home on LA’s Westside. Since the first escape rooms arrived in Los Angeles in 2016, the film capital of the United States hasn’t stopped crafting these immersive puzzle experiences. In fact, Los Angeles proper is home to 49 different escape room venues and LA’s Westside offers a particularly exciting array of escape room experiences that are suitable for all tastes. 60 Out’s The Mystery of Senator Payne has been a fan favorite for years, and won a 2016 Golden Lock award. Maze Room’s Whatever Happened The Garretts is another hit with avid players and sure to provide an incredible experience. With over 170 escape games in the entire area, the possibilities are nearly endless — you’ll find games with themes of horror, adventure, crime, espionage, and plenty you may not expect.
Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
