“Another solid room at Breakout KC. Number and lock intensive for sure which can get pretty repetitive quickly. Enjoyed how much there was to do. Could’ve been more immersive but not bad for the space they had!”

“My all-time favorite room. We had a great time playing this room while visiting KC. The puzzles are novel, the theme was tight, and there are elements of this room I haven’t seen anywhere else. Can’t wait to play more rooms at Breakout KC!”

“Loved the set design and the atmosphere. We all had a lot of fun with this one. Puzzles were on the easier side but some unique ideas and they kept everyone engaged. Rooms with actors generally always elevate the fun and immersion and this one was no exception.”

“A visually stunning room with a great mix of different types of puzzles. The puzzles all made sense to the storyline, and having additional video clips as the game went along really made you feel immersed in a mission.”

“As with all of ‘Escape Game’ rooms, I had an absolute blast playing Special Ops! The atmosphere was amazing, and the puzzles are so unique!! Not to mention the fact that the environment shift in the second act really takes you by surprise!! My friends and I went in with the plan to essentially LARP as Special Ops agents, but we got so immersed in the puzzles that we lost that act pretty quick (haha!). I admit, I wish more had been done with the first rooms, the atmosphere was so fun and I definitely would’ve enjoyed staying in there for longer, but the twist that took us to the second part was so much fun too.”

“This was, by far, the most fun I’ve ever had playing an escape room. My friends and I got super into the story, put on accents, and really got into character while playing the games. And our GM played into our tomfoolery so much, making our experience that much more enjoyable! The puzzles were extremely intuitive and super unique!! I’d never seen puzzles quite like them and it was so exciting to see how the game would continue and evolve. Not to mention, the atmosphere was absolutely AMAZING!! Again, I cannot overstate how amazing our GM is. He played so much into our hooliganism and surprised us at the end with an inside joke that my friends and I started at the beginning of the room! I also love that you’re allowed to take pictures in the room, it made it so fun to be able to record things and show people afterwards. I totally understand why other rooms don’t allow it, but I loved being able to show people the pictures from inside. Overall, both of the rooms I’ve done with this company have been OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!! I cannot recommend them enough, it’s only an hour of your time for an experience you will be talking about for WEEKS!!! Please go play their rooms, you won’t regret it!”

“A whimsical and fun room--and as usual for TEG, visually stunning. The time travel aspect was implemented in a very clever way. The ticket delivery system, and the instant audio feedback for several of the puzzles were super impressive to me.”

“We have did probably in the lower 100s for escape rooms. That being said, this game will probably forever be in the #1 spot. I absolutely love all of Tick Tocks games. Any chance there are new ones popping up we are there. It helps that they have a guy who does all the insane computer engineering parts of each room. The fact that they are not franchise. They get to do some of there own things. I absolutely love the effects in this game.”

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
