Long before the founding of Cairo, an Egyptian prince fell in love with the beautiful Merit. He vowed that not even death would separate them and built twin tombs connected by a mile-long passageway. For her prince, Merit commissioned the Unification Heart: two halves of the same whole that together contained tremendous transformative power. Upon their death, each was buried with half of the heart and the promise that connecting the two halves would reunite the lovers in the afterlife. According to legend, an earthquake split the mile-long passageway, forever separating the two and cursing the city that rests between their ancient homes. As a proud member of Britain’s Egypt Exploration Society, you believe the Unification Heart is more than just a myth. One of your associates telegrams that she has uncovered something astonishing, but when you arrive you find her campsite abandoned. Fearing the worst, you must follow in her footsteps. Enter the mysterious tomb and uncover the heart lest your team share the same tragic fate.

“One of the best themed rooms I’ve ever done. This entire location exudes passion. Clever puzzles and fun story mad me for a great experience. Also one of the best ways of explaining the escape room “ground rules” ever.”

A week at Camp Wasaakee was supposed to be the ultimate summer adventure. But reality hasn’t exactly lived up to the back of the brochure. The counselors are the most overbearing, rule-obsessed, uptight people you could possibly imagine. Lights out happens every night at exactly 7pm. Worst yet, you’ve not seen so much as a single marshmallow since you arrived. What good is a summer camp without any s’mores? This no fun nonsense ends tonight, because you have a plan. Shortly after lights out, you’re busting out of your bunk, breaking into the mess hall, and preparing to have the most epic night of your summer vacation.

“For my elder millennial heart who grew up watching shows like ‘Salute Your Shorts’ and experiencing camp life in person, this room was a blast! It’s so well built and I love the story driven room style that they’re going for. A well put together room with fun nostalgia!”

Your childhood dreams have come true with the opening of The Jurassic Project—a one-of-a-kind experience that allows people to encounter living, breathing dinosaurs. The park features astonishing adventures like feeding a Brontosaurus, riding a Triceratops, and if you're lucky—watching a new brood of baby Iguanodons hatch. Guests can interact with dinosaurs worry free because it is inhabited only by herbivores. As you arrive on the island, everything seems perfect. A little too perfect. While you’re excited to embark on this adventure of a lifetime, you begin to wonder if the scientists have been completely honest about their designs and intentions. Is something far more sinister lurking within the park? Find out as you and your team navigate through prehistoric peril in hopes of avoiding the ultimate extinction.

“Rating: 5/5 - Wow, fantastic, it surprised me in one of the best ways. Must-play for Jurassic Park fans. Here's why this is one of my favorites rooms: ➕ They tout this as a cinematic experience and it does feel that way, it's like you're visiting Jurassic Park. This room would be right at home at Universal Studios. ➕ Set looks amazing, with multiple scene changes and great use of elevation. They spared no expense. ➕ Tons of tech with great use of audio and special effects. There were some padlocks but where they were used made sense. ➕ Some puzzles felt more task-like but to me that adds immersion, I don't like escape room logic. ➕ Puzzles were fun and fit the theme, they had physical/tactile aspects. ➕ Multiple climactic and "wow" moments, it was fun progressing through the game. ➕ GM was helpful when needed The game has some tense moments and loud noises but it's not scary or spooky. I would recommend 2-4 players. My ranking of Memphis Escape rooms I've played starting with my favorite: 1. Jurassic Project 2. Monsters from the Abyss 3. Shipwreck Cove 4. One Night in the 90s”

Something’s wrong with Mawmaw! The last batch of her yummy chocolate oatmeal cookies were super hard…like a bag of rocks. A casserole she brought over could only be identified as gross mush. And the birthday cake she made for Mom tasted like yucky burnt pickles and farts. But Mom told you to mind your manners and made you eat it anyway—ew! And that’s not all. MawMaw stopped her weekly phone calls. And when she did call again, she said weird stuff, like she was a character on a TV show. And worst of all? She totally forgot your birthday! Yeah, not even a card! Enough is enough. So, you hatch a plan with some of the other grandkids to figure out what’s going on. Here it is: ride bikes to MawMaw’s neighborhood after the streetlights come on, ditch the bikes in the park, and then sneak into her house through the backyard. What will you find over there? She doesn’t seem to be hurt…just acting…weird…so what is MawMaw’s secret?? One thing’s for sure: you came to chew gum and solve this mystery, and you’re all out of bubblegum.

“This was between a love and a like for me. The room design and some cool effects pushed it to a love. Some of the puzzles were confusing to us (maybe we were tired…we had already done 2 other rooms earlier). The atmosphere is phenomenal. We definitely want to play it again when we have another person with us. Go play it!”

Every year for Christmas you struggle with what gifts to get, especially for the kids in your world. But this year, you know exactly what they want: An Ultra Man action figure. It’s THE hottest toy on the market and pretty much the only thing on their list this year. You know that if you can get them one, you’ll be the hero of the holiday season. There’s just one problem: everywhere is sold out. You’ve checked all the big box stores but no matter where you look, you can’t seem to find a single one! Finally, after hours and hours of searching, you find a rather shady character who is selling Ultra Man dolls…at 5 times the normal price! As you begin to look into this scam, you realize that the person charging an arm and a leg for these Ultra Man dolls is the store manager for a local toy store, Yuletide Toys. It’s clear that the store manager has been stashing toys for himself and selling them at a high markup during the holiday season to line his pockets with the cash. This cannot happen. You decide that the only way to do something nice this holiday season is to get a little naughty. You’re going to break into Yuletide Toys after hours and recover one of those stolen dolls for yourself (and the kids). Will your holiday heist be a success or will you be left with nothing under the tree?

“Incredible room! Lots of unique puzzles & things to do. Often, we skip Christmas rooms as we feel they are aimed at younger crowds and are easier…but this one kept us engaged the whole time! This is a place for people to come together and play. Remember what it’s like to just lose yourself in a game? Since this is the next evolution in live-action entertainment, you probably haven’t seen anything like this before. So let us tell you: Put simply, it’s a giant building full games that were designed to give you hundreds of hours of entertainment. You heard that right. Even if you come spend an entire day playing, you’ll likely just scratch the surface of the 100+ levels we’ve already built for you.

“Rating: 4.5/5 - My favorite so far out of the 5-6 challenge arcades I've played, though I've yet to visit Level99 which everyone raves about. I particularly like this one since the sets are very detailed and immersive (the owners also create escape rooms), there are so many fun rooms and mini-games (around 30), and I love the physical challenges (some with multiple floors). 2 hours was just enough time to try basically every room and play some repeats. Some of the rooms are replayable with multiple levels. We went on a busy Sat evening but there were always rooms available so we were rarely waiting long. The games had a ton of variety between mental, skill-based, and physical challenges, though some were more fun than others, a couple were confusing. I would recommend a team of 3, some games were a bit too hard with only 2. For the most part, everything was working and not broken so they are maintaining things. I like format here, the screens give you info about how to play and they have a dedicated entrance and exit door to each room. Some challenge arcades only have a single door in or out so other teams can get in your way.”

“Like every other game we've played at Memphis Escape Rooms, Magician's Code is very well designed and fun to play. The theme of the room was very immersive and there were some fun, and unique, elements in the room. The room is mostly linear is the progression is very well thought out. Easily on of our favorite rooms at Memphis Escape Rooms.”

"SKATE INTO THE 90'S" It’s homecoming week during your senior year and you and the rest of the class of ’98 have been having a total blast! You’re capping off your week of fun with a trip to the local skating rink before the big game. The music is blaring, the party is jumping, and everyone can tell this will be a night to remember. *record-scratch* All of the sudden, the lights go out, and you hear a commotion by the door. You see some goons from the rival high school have chained it closed and locked you in! Totally not cool. If that weren’t bad enough, they’ve spray painted “Bulldogs Rule and Tigers Drool” across the door. As if! Can you find a way to escape and prove that you’re all that and a bag of chips, or will you spend the rest of your senior year totally buggin'?

“Basic but fun escape room. Nothing really hard here, but enough puzzles for a small group. One of their more themed rooms. Not a lot of tech in this one but a variety of puzzles that fit the theme. Only slight issue was that our game host was not aware we had completed the room until several minutes later. We had to request a clue to end the game and even still were told to complete the final puzzle until the host saw we were holding the item. Not a huge issue for us, as we weren't shooting for a specific time or anything, but might be a problem for a group hunting leaderboard status. If you haven't done a ton of rooms, this is a good starting point but also just a good, solid escape experience.”

“This was our second game at this location, and we are so glad we gave it another chance. We did not love our first game, but this one was a blast. This room was not bells and whistles, so expect plain, old school locks and puzzles. Nothing about the room was terribly difficult, so it would be a good introductory room and probably better for fewer people, especially if you're experienced. That being said, game play was good, theming was on point, and it was just a fun, old-school escape room. If you're looking for something novel, elaborately decorated or high technology, this is not your room. But, having just come from playing higher tech rooms with multiple malfunctions, a solid manual room with no issues was a nice change of pace. We enjoyed the game and appreciated that the game masters respected our request for no hints without us asking for them. We had a much better experience all-around this visit-service and game play.”

How Do Escape Rooms Work?

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
