Opus MemoriEzkapazEscape roomIRLThis room was excellent. It seriously checked the box of immersive and that is the number one thing that we go for. The puzzles weren't the most difficult we've encountered, but the energy and atmosphere gives that sense of complexity and helps add a sense of urgency. One particular part of this one blew my mind, and I absolutely loved, but I'll let you find out what it was yourself ;) My recommendation as the third game to do at The Manor (major bonus if you can do them back to back, recommended order The Barber, The Cadavera Case, Opus Memori)
Le Dernier Arrêt - V2 [The Final Stop - V2]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLThis was an awesome expérience. The puzzles were nice, but the main focus was the immersion and the storyline. We were big fans of the intégration of the live actor.
Rain Corp. - CLOSEDEscaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLHUGE thumbs up for immersion on this one. The hint system was immaculate, and the story definitely grips you and holds you interested throughout. We really enjoyed this room and I really recommend not overlooking it.
Le Blind Tiger [The Blind Tiger]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLAs far as concepts go, this was a personal favorite. Ive always been a fan of the speakeasy bar energy and this room captured it very well. The music was a strong point to making it feel authentic and exciting.
Le choix du barbier prev. Le Barbier [The Barber's Choice prev. The Barber]EzkapazEscape roomIRLThe Barber shop definitely felt like a pretty standard escape room. We enjoyed some of the mechanics greatly, but other parts stood out as in need of an update. Overall this room was a lot of fun, and I would recommend it if you are making a day trip to do all 3 rooms at the manor. This is what I would recommend as the first game to do.
Retour Sur L'affaire Cadavera prev. L'affaire Cadavera [Return to the Cadavera Case prev. The Cadaver Case]EzkapazEscape roomIRLWe did really.enjoy this one. Combined a typical escape room with an investigation, which was fun for us. The only problem that I had with this room is the ending was a little too ambiguous. We had to ask our GM if our answer was right because when we submitted it we had no idea if we were correct or not, but aside from that this was a very solid and well executed experience.
Le Jubilé d'Or [The Golden Jubilee]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLWhole this room certainly wouldn't hold the title of their best room, it was still a stretch ahead of most rooms that we've done elsewhere than Escaparium. We booked it last second on a whim after doing two others, and we were not disappointed.
L'Île perdue de la Reine Vaudou [The Lost Island of the Voodoo Queen]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLIt's almost hard to call this experience a room. We had a blast. We got a little stuck on one puzzle at the beginning and because of that we felt like we had to rush a bit on the rest, but we still very much enjoyed the game. The scale of it was amazing.
Le Cirque des Âmes Perdues [Circus of the Lost Souls] - CLOSEDImmersia Escape GamesEscape roomIRLThis room was a lot of gun! Kept the entire group stimulated throughout. We sped through a lot of the puzzles but were slowed down by one a little bit later. We really enjoyed the theme and the mechanism for requesting hints was a lot of fun. We only used it once, but we got a kick out of it.
Armoire à Vendre [Wardrobe for Sale]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLWhat a time to be alive. Ur group is all big fans of fantasy themes, so this room certainly appealed to that. It was theatrical, but that didn't take away from the puzzles at all. More than that, it made them feel more urgent. I can't think of a single puzzle that didn't directly contribute to the immersion. An absolute must do for any fans of fantasy and immersive experiences.
Le Grand Immersia Hotel [The Grand Immersia Hotel]Immersia Escape GamesEscape roomIRLThis one got to me. It was an incredible set with a very immersive feel to it. Some of the puzzles nearly fried our brains, but we managed against all odds to pull it off. I could see this being a challenge for smaller groups, but as a group of 4 we were well set.
La Cathédrale Oubliée [The Forgotten Cathedral]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLThe Cathedral is, and I speak for my whole group and I'm sure many others, more than just an escape room. We finally made the decision to try it out after having it recommended by every other escape game that we had been to, and we were floored. From the beginning to the end there was never a dull moment. An incredible set and sound design made for a complete immersion that made us feel like we were living an adventure movie. Hairs still stand up on my neck when I think about one part, but I'll leave you to experience that yourself.
InsomniumFind the KeyEscape roomIRLWhen it comes to games, there are lots of things that I can overlook or forgive, but maintenance of puzzles is one that needs to be upheld. This room felt like it was probably amazing when it came out, but it has been used thoroughly since then. We really enjoyed the concept, and in the ways that this room was good, it was quite good, but the immersion was ruined by the state of the puzzles.
Les Quatre Sorciers et l'Ascension du Seigneur des Ténèbres [The Wizard Four and the Rise of Lord Thulsa]Escaparium - MontrealEscape roomIRLThis room was fun, but in our minds didn't live up to the first in the series. The way the magic was presented was very fun and cool, but felt like it was forgotten and then haphazardly reintroduced partway through. Worth playing, but if you're expecting the same level as the first one, you may be slightly disappointed.
The Unknown - L'expérience Sociale [The Unknown - A Social Experiment] - CLOSEDFind the KeyEscape roomIRLThis room was a lot of fun. The puzzles were creative and engaging, and the atmosphere of the room was spot on for the concept. More unsettling than scary, but that's subjective.
Les Quatre Sorciers et le Grimoire de l'Art Obscur [The Wizard Four and the Book of Black Arts]Escaparium - MontrealEscape roomIRLWe were floored by this room. An extremely rewarding experience both in the puzzles and in the atmosphere and story. It was clear that the GM and other staff involved were passionate about this room, and that made for an unforgettable experience. If youre a fan of Harry Potter, or just magic in general, this is the room for you.
Asile Psychiatrique [Psychiatric Asylum]A/Maze PlateauEscape roomIRLWe had a lot of fun in this room. The immersion of the room was self contained and potent. From the start you do feel like you are in the world of the game. Unfortunately when we went the GM seemed very uninterested and wasn't even able to properly set up the beginning of the game properly (which she blatantly admitted). This room definitely merits a visit though. If the concept intrigues you it's definitely worth the play.
Ordre Secret [Secret Order]A/Maze PlateauEscape roomIRLA word to describe this room is ambitious. It was an exciting ride. We got a little bit too caught up in the energy of the room and that's what eventually led to our inability to complete the room, but the parts that we did make it through were exciting and extremely immersive. We're big on the games that make you forget they're games, and this one excelled at that.
Les Industries Tyranno [Tyranno Industries]Escaparium - MontrealEscape roomIRLI liked this room. I wanted to love it, but unfortunately it was very clear that the effort was put into the set itself and not into the puzzles/narrative. Certain reveals felt lackluster and we finished the 60 minute room in about 40 minutes. I'm still giving this one a positive review because it was entertaining and impressive, but it felt more like it was targeting a younger audience.
Le Jeu [The Game]Escaparium - MontrealEscape roomIRLIf you're a fan of the Saw franchise, this room is a must see. I grew up watching them and the level of immersion in this particular game was exhilarating. My group aren't huge on the scary games, but this one was scary without being overwhelming/distracting. The puzzles were all well laid out and made for some very exciting (if not at times edging on unsettling) moments. Nothing negative to say on this room.
