Ep. 1 - The Time TravelersBaker Street Escapes - Automobile AlleyEscape roomIRLWe really enjoyed this room even if a couple of the puzzles are a little rough around the edges appearance/functionality wise. A little smoothing would go a long way! Nothing enough to ruin the game by any means. Gameplay was largely pretty easy and story-driven, and it was cool to get a glimpse into this universe. If you’re traveling from out of town for a weekend in OKC, it may be worth waiting until later in 2024 or early 2025 when they expect to have 2 more rooms open which will be directly influenced by your performance in Episode 1. Very cool concept behind the whole place with a very passionate owner who has a great vision in mind for his experiences!
The Warrior's WayRed Door Escape Room - Chisholm CreekEscape roomIRLI would recommend avoiding this room until they fix all of the tech issues that plague it. If it operated properly, it would be a passably decent room. Starting from the beginning, there were mechanical issues on what were very obvious puzzles/answers. The GM wasn’t providing feedback during our attempts, so we weren’t sure if our approach was right or if it was a known fault in the game. An entire map goes completely unused, and there is a completely unintuitive color-related puzzle. Overall, a wildly frustrating experience that would’ve been better if we had just skipped it. I can look past a lot of things, but faulty tech/mechanisms will send me straight over the edge.
Servants of SleightThe Escape Ventures - Clearwater [prev. The Exit Games]Escape roomIRLOur group of 2 enthusiasts and 3 newbies had a fantastic time in this room! This room has some of the best puzzle flow/clueing that I’ve encountered in a room! There was very little wondering what to do next, which made it feel a little easy at times, but it flowed extremely well. The hint mechanism was excellent! Set designs were very good, and overall immersion was great. Even with some age, all parts of the room worked perfectly. It’s easy to see why this room is a must-do! Highly recommended, and would be great for aspiring enthusiasts! The earlier in your journey you do this room, the more it will wow you. Some of the “wow” was probably diminished a little bit for us as a result, but that’s not any fault of the room!
La Cathédrale Oubliée [The Forgotten Cathedral]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLAbsolutely breathtaking sets and atmosphere. Words can’t even describe the amount of detail and depth in this room. Just absolutely, purely fantastic. Even with the set being as good as it is, the gameplay enhances the experiences even more, and the puzzles advance the story flawlessly. The experience was definitely unnerving, and a couple of parts were outright scary to me, but it was so so so worth it. If you can come play this game, you absolutely MUST. Second to none.
L'Île perdue de la Reine Vaudou [The Lost Island of the Voodoo Queen]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLAnother absolute smash hit by Escaparium Laval. The set was beyond incredible, and the puzzles were very inventive while keeping the theme in mind and constantly advancing the narrative. Much like their other rooms, it felt like we were playing a part in a movie. Absolutely must-do.
Projet R.E.S.E.T. [Project R.E.S.E.T.]Immersia Escape GamesEscape roomIRLI absolutely loved the theme of this room, and the gameplay knocked it out of the park. The live actor was fantastic, and the logistics of the room itself completely blew our minds. Really fun, unique puzzles, and a completely unique theme. Mind-blowing and absolutely a must-do room.
Rain Corp. - CLOSEDEscaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLOur group really enjoyed this game! The beginning felt a little clunky but got better as it went along. The “live actor” (a robot assistant on wheels) was funny and very unique. The scale of this game was incredible, but some of the puzzles felt a little too small to be part of such a huge space. Very original and absolutely worth playing!
L'institut Salutem Medicina [Salutem Medicina Institute]Immersia Escape GamesEscape roomIRLThis room was wildly unsettling and very eerie throughout. There were no jump scares, but this room had us on edge the entire time. The live actor played it perfectly. There was one very unique puzzle in the beginning, and then another at the very end. I highly recommend the “VIP” person in your group be capable of processing repeated auditory information and have a higher tolerance for unsettling situations. The puzzles themselves were very unique and completely on theme. Our group is a bunch of chickens but still managed to get through this room okay. It is definitely worth doing! Very highly recommend!
Le Grand Immersia Hotel [The Grand Immersia Hotel]Immersia Escape GamesEscape roomIRLThis room was such a blast! Great integration of a live actor, and really fun puzzles! Really amazing set and atmosphere. Overall just a really fun game!
Armoire à Vendre [Wardrobe for Sale]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLWow. This game was incredibly fun and blew my mind over and over again. It just. Kept. Going. In the best way possible! We absolutely felt like we were part of a movie. The implementation and variety of live actors was masterful. It was a total experience, not just an escape room. There were so many layers of emotion in this room, and it had an incredible depth of narrative. Everything flowed together so cohesively, and the sets and atmosphere were jaw-dropping. I cannot speak highly enough of this experience. It is must-do in every sense and worth making a special trip just to do it, along with Escaparium’s other experiences.
Disparue [Missing]Enigma-TicEscape roomIRLThis room was a great take on Stranger Things that did not feel like a cheap ripoff. The set design was very good, but the story itself felt a little lacking. Still, an enjoyable room with some very cool moments and definitely worth doing.
Le Dernier Arrêt - V2 [The Final Stop - V2]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLThis room absolutely lives up to the hype. Our group doesn’t like any trace of scary in our games, so this pushed us a little, but it was absolutely worth it. Just startled a few times but no outright jump scares. More a creepy, unsettling feeling than anything. Such an inventive, unique room unlike anything I’ve ever done. It had a very theatrical feeling and made us part of the production.
Le Sentier du Maître-Constructeur [The Master Builder’s Path]Enigma-TicEscape roomIRLThis room used puzzles I had never seen before in 100+ rooms. The theming was excellent, and it was a really fun room. There was a lot of tactility in each of the puzzles, and each gave a great sense of accomplishment when completed. Very highly recommend.
Bernie Bloc [Bernie Block]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLThis room was really fun, and the set was super neat. The room has begun showing its age just a little, but it’s still a fascinating experience. This is a great starter room at Escaparium, and it was very well done. Lots of fun musical cues and some neat puzzles that make you feel like you’re in the Lego World. Very unique!
La Forêt de Falderon [Falderon Forest]Sauve Qui Peut - Saint-JeanEscape roomIRLThis room is incredibly inventive. I’m still amazed at the programming and AI aspect of it. Such a fun clue system. The story was amazing, and it was such an immersive experience. It was a pretty challenging room, but the room adapts to your skill level, even so far as changing the puzzles and puzzle difficulty to progress you through the room to the ending. All of its accolades are very much earned!
La Colère de Poséidon [The Wrath of Poseidon]Sauve Qui Peut - Saint-JeanEscape roomIRLVery impressive sets in this room, and somewhat unique puzzles. The first room was fairly dark, so it was a little tough to see at times. Really immersive experience. The ending was slightly anti-climactic and a little muddled, but I still definitely recommend this game!
Weekend de Rêve [Dream Weekend]Sauve Qui Peut - Saint-JeanEscape roomIRLWe really enjoyed this room a lot. An extremely unique room with puzzles we had never seen before. The narrative of the room was carried strongly all throughout and made for an amazing experience. Inventive use of space and technology to elevate the room to the next level.
Vortex Futur [Vortex Future]Sauve Qui Peut - Saint-JeanEscape roomIRLEven though we didn’t escape in time, I loved this room. All of the puzzles were very unique and genuinely fun. The room is designed so people can be working on several different puzzles at once, if desired. This room truly is difficult but is very fair. Great effects, great set, and very inventive.
FolkloreEscape CodeEscape roomIRLThis was a very fun room that had some unique puzzles with an immersive set and great flow. It was on the easier side, but there were multiple puzzles that were more than surface-level depth. Another strong room for Escape Code that we had a lot of fun completing. I wish there had been more content, especially for it being a 75-minute room, but still up to the great Escape Code standard.
221b A Poisonous DebateCryptex Branson Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThe room was enjoyable with some neat puzzles. Like other rooms at Cryptex, there are intentional red herrings in this room, which is always kind of an eye roll. We had very friendly staff, but there was a couple minute wait when we asked for clues because the GM was running multiple rooms. Entirely decent experience if you’re looking for a room to do.
