Cosmic CrisisThe Escape Game - Pigeon ForgeEscape roomIRLThis is the my least favorite of all the Escape Game rooms I’ve done. It was less about puzzles and more video game like. Would have been fine if it was advertised that way but I would have preferred less “puzzles” that were based on hand eye coordination. Atmosphere was great like all their games but I didn’t have the same sense of accomplishment.
Snow Manor [Jubensha Experience 剧本杀]Rabbit Hole Recreation ServicesEscape roomOther Having done a lot of role playing games this was really disappointing. We read from books and there wasn’t a lot of room for improv. There was some semblance of “looking for clues” which were props in a different room but it was just a mechanism for storytelling and it didn’t feel like we earned it in any way. The game master really dragged things along and the game was really overly long and kind of boring. The ending didn’t feel satisfying and was anticlimactic. Maybe it was the story itself but after we got over the initial awe of the special effects in the room, it was really boring and we couldn’t wait to be done.
Alien ZooEscapism PortlandEscape roomIRLIt was fine not especially different or interesting but fine enough for us to bring our young kid. Enough stuff she could help with that she had fun. Wouldn’t go out of my way for it though as we had done.
The Fun HouseCross Roads Escape GamesEscape roomIRL7/10 great theme and a good one to do as a family. The GM added a side quest of finding coins in the room for our kid which she loved. Puzzles were nonlinear and more mechanical. Solid room, solidly fun. GM bumped it up another point because of how engaging she was. She was also really great with kids.
The LadderHatch EscapesEscape roomIRL1,000/10. I cannot stop thinking about this game. Hatch Escapes has done it again. It’s not exactly an escape room, more like an immersive video game. But there are plenty of puzzles to scratch that itch. It’s a massive game with 5 rooms that are all so unique and immersive. I’m already thinking about when I can come back to play through other story choices. It was incredible and I’m shouting it from the rooftops you have to do the Ladder and anything else Hatch does. They’re geniuses.
The Magic CottageInfinity EscapeEscape roomIRLReally frustrating experience. The clues were given SO quickly even though we asked a few times not to give us clues until we asked. We never got a chance to try to figure out the puzzle ourselves before the solution was given. I don’t have a sense of accomplishment from completing this room at all. The props, set design and all that were high tech but everything had a tacky feeling from use. Game was also so linear that in our group of 4, 2-3 people were often waiting around for the puzzle to be done before anything else could happen. GM was great and friendly but it’s not a game I would recommend.
The StorykeeperLocurioEscape roomIRLLoved how immersive this game was. The live actors were really great. You truly feel like you’re in the story through the set, props, and puzzles. You can tell the level of care that went into this. I think it’s a must do in Seattle. I would say a couple puzzles were not super intuitive and therefore less satisfying upon solving but overall still a great game.
RockstarCityscape GamesEscape roomIRLLoved the theme, very well integrated. Not linear which I prefer. Puzzles were clever and fun to solve even when we were stuck. Lots of care and attention went into this one. Adding it to my list of favs - worth the 40 min drive from Seattle while we were on vacation. Kid had a great time as well. Owner and GM were so kind; really great service.
The HeistThe Escape Game - Penn QuarterEscape roomIRLPuzzles were a little linear and not enough for 4 people to do but overall theme was great and experience was still fun. 6.5/10
Horrorscope Killer - CLOSEDEpic Escape Game - Downtown DenverEscape roomIRLGame was tricky but not necessarily because the puzzles were tricky. More like clues were a bit obtuse. Also extremely linear which I don’t enjoy.
Train RobberyCyber Raccoon Escape RoomEscape roomIRLGreat atmosphere and puzzles. Felt a bit too linear but I understand the need the way the story was unfolding. It did mean though towards the middle and the end that sometimes we had 1-2 extra people with nothing to do (we were a group of 5). Clever mechanics, good storyline, and high quality puzzles. I’d definitely recommend it but I’m not sure if it’s on my list of favorites.
Gangster's Gamble - CLOSEDCharm City Clue RoomEscape roomIRLExtremely linear and mostly combination locks. Room was sparsely decorated and had minimal ambiance to the theme of the room. We were told this one was the hardest but it wasn’t too bad just that it had so many combination locks. A little boring.
Frost Base ZRabbit Hole Recreation ServicesEscape roomIRLStory didn’t seem well thought out and was kind of chaotic but not in a way that built tension for participants. Lots of interesting puzzle mechanics and really high quality set design. Somehow the ending felt anticlimactic and there wasn’t a huge sense of accomplishment even though we escaped.
Enchanted [prev. Warlocked]Redondo Beach [prev. Quest Room]Escape roomIRLReally high tech. One of the rooms legitimately looked like we were outside and the lights/sounds changed as the weather changed - it felt realistic. The actor component was well done and integrated well. I love that the story encouraged us to be silly and have fun. It was a great time. Lots of puzzles for a group to solve without feeling like we’re on top of each other. Highly recommend for a group. Did it for a work bonding thing. Not for people who want a challenge as it wasn’t that hard but it was fun. If you take yourself too seriously you might not like the sillier parts of the game though (dancing chanting).
Lab RatHatch EscapesEscape roomIRLAll time favorite escape room. It was completely immersive and you genuinely felt like a human lab rat in a giant maze. Lots of fun mechanics and I don’t think there was a single combination lock in the whole game.
