Wong's ChineseThe Perfect EscapeEscape roomIRLThis was was so so so fun! So many puzzles and our team of four barely made it out with three hints. The theming was fun and I should mention it had the best produced intro video I’ve ever seen. Just pure puzzle chaos. It is a standout to me having done about fifty rooms.
Rikers, 1932BrainXcape Escape Room NYCEscape roomIRLIt was ok. Pretty hard and mostly padlock puzzles. Challenging but nothing you haven’t seen before
The Temple of Lost GoldMaze Rooms - Robertson BlvdEscape roomIRLWas wide eyed for most of this experience. So cool and really good tech integration. Amazing set pieces
Imaginasium of IntrigueRI Riddle RoomEscape roomIRLThis was my first room at RI Riddle Room. The style of puzzles weren’t really for me. Didn’t like the bonus puzzles either, I wish they would have just made the whole thing harder instead of adding “filler” puzzles.
The VaultProdigy Puzzles Escape Rooms [prev. Mystery Soup Escape Rooms, Lock & Clue]Escape roomIRLReally awesome setting, it’s an office space but it takes place in what feels like was a real office space so it was immersive. Puzzles were a bit vague and required a lot of attention to detail. Would recommend for the immersion over the puzzles. Will come back to this location for sure.
Prison BreakThe Escape Game - BrooklynEscape roomIRLSuper hard first generation room with lots of padlocks and keys
Godzilla vs. King Kong60Out - HHLAEscape roomIRLReally wanted to like this one, but left disappointed. While the technical execution was excellent, I feel like other older rooms can have more charm and ingenuity without needing excess technology. It barely was an escape room, more like a walk through experience. The puzzles were more like tasks and I don’t think I actually had to really think at any point. On a subjective level, I felt l the room was lacking wonder, depth, or heart. There also was an in-game hints system that would nudge us even though we asked for no unsolicited hints. I think it might be better suited for kids, but not escape room enthusiasts. While this is a particularly critical review, being one of the newest and technologically complex games on the market, it should hold its weight, especially at the price point.
The Orphanage60Out - KoreatownEscape roomIRLLoved the atmosphere of this room! Felt like you were in a horror video game. Felt like the gameplay had more potential, it got a little confusing at the end.
Dragon's KeepTrapped Puzzle Rooms - North LoopEscape roomIRLGreat escape room with challenges and puzzles
The Perfumer - CLOSEDQuest Room - HollywoodEscape roomIRLExtremely immersive room, and very challenging. We wore the provided costumes and really enjoyed being put into the story. Tons of bespoke, detailed props and puzzles. My favorite part was the linear start of the room, but the number of tasks to do towards the end got a bit confusing.
Da Vinci's Secret60Out - HollywoodEscape roomIRLQuite difficult old school style escape room. Tons of puzzles but none that particularly stood out to me. Three is a good number for this room. Our GM Derek was amazing though.
The Double-CrossEscape Rhode IslandEscape roomIRLPretty nice room with several “mini-games” in a mostly nonlinear format. It did lend itself to standing around watching someone else do a puzzle, but I personally don’t mind that. You don’t really need more than two people for this one
The Dragon's LairMaze Rooms - Culver CityEscape roomIRLThe mechanisms in this room and the west LA Maze Rooms (same owner) are so cool and original
Escape The Wild WestEscape Hunt - London Oxford StreetEscape roomIRLVery well built room but the latter game puzzles had too many logical leaps for me to truly enjoy it. Did it with two and struggled, would recommend 3-4.
13th BasementExit Game OC - AnaheimEscape roomIRLSassy and satirical room, owners were very kind and accommodating.
Prison BreakEscape Room 66 - Laguna HillsEscape roomIRLReally like this brand. They show that you can have a lot of fun with a bunch of locks and keys. We did this back to back with a gen 3 room and this one was by far the more exciting and rewarding experience.
