Montauk ProjectMyssTic RoomsEscape roomIRLI thought this room was excellent. Fantastic set design, some really unique puzzles, and being a Stranger Things fan makes it even better. Our team had a great time! This was my last room with MyssTic and it became an instant classic! There were, however, a couple setup errors in the first room that then resulted in us waiting to use a key all game for something that should have been locked in the beginning, and for our guide to come on over the mic to explain that something should have been closed, etc. Fortunately that was only in the first room so I was able to get immersed again, but this has happened at least once with all of the games I played at MyssTic and considering how EXPENSIVE their rooms are, you would hope that sort of thing wouldn’t happen. That said- all of their room’s designs are so so commendable. I’m gonna miss playing with them!
Mission: MarsThe Escape Game - ChicagoEscape roomIRLThis is the weakest TEG room I’ve played, and I’ve done them all except the ones in Nashville and DC. This is a room that’s getting aged out of their newer stores and I can see why- technical difficulties that made puzzles unnecessarily difficult, and a lot of instances of things kinda opening randomly where it was unclear if it was broken and being triggered late, or if someone else had solved something. The set itself was very fun, but some of my least favorite puzzles with the whole company
Atlantis: The Forgotten CityHypnotic Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLabsolutely incredible room. such unique puzzles, and incredible set design! total gem of a company, I can’t wait to play the rest!!!
Sky OdysseyMaze Rooms - VermontEscape roomIRLI wish I could have played this room at its full potential. SEVERAL faulty puzzles, several puzzles out of the game that our GM let us work on for 10+ minutes, never telling us they were broken unless we asked. There were a lot of fun and unique moments, but overall, a lot of disappointing, aged features. We went into the game with our GM telling us there was one puzzle that wasn’t working. In actuality there were like 3 that were broken, and we got no explanation about them
Rocky Point ParkRI Riddle RoomEscape roomIRLI’m a big theme park nerd so I really enjoyed this one. It’s not the highest tech room in the world, but I loved that they had actual pieces from the theme park in the room! It made the handmade elements more charming. And there were a lot of really fun puzzles! Definitely got our money’s worth! Good for 3-4 if you’re experienced!
The BirdMyssTic RoomsEscape roomIRLjust fantastic! exceptional set design, really fun and unique puzzles. Can’t recommend this company enough!
Legend of the YetiThe Escape Game - NYC Times SquareEscape roomIRLI think this is my favorite game with this company so far!!! So many unique elements I hadn’t seen before, some fun surprises, and incredible set design, as always. I loved it so so much, we had the best time!
Lab RatHatch EscapesEscape roomIRLTHIS ROOM!!!!! It’s been on my bucket list for YEARS and I finally get to check it off!! This room really had it all! So many fun puzzles, so much to do, and soooo many elements. The one thing I’ll say is that it’s clear there have been people who have messed around in the past because there were a loooooot of in-game precautions that kept being relayed by the GM over the speaker. It kinda distracted from the game because we would just be trying something out and then they’d come on the speaker and explain why we shouldn’t touch something, but even with that, it was still so great!
Lunar MissionMaze Rooms - VermontEscape roomIRLThis room isn’t anything particularly mind-blowing or unique, and some elements felt kinda worn down, but we had fun! We were pretty challenged as a team of 2, we would’ve done better with 3-4! I wished the story was a little more clear and cohesive but still glad we played!
Treasure IslandBrain Games Escape RoomEscape roomIRLI think this has become my new favorite room. Just awesome in every way. SOOOO many puzzles, all of which were cool and unique. So many elements I had never seen before, and we walked into every room saying wow. I had a BLAST! A must-play!!!
Ruins: Forbidden TreasureThe Escape Game - NYC Times SquareEscape roomIRLThis was an exceptionally cool room. Instantly in my Top 3 with this company!! There was one frustrating puzzle that eventually stopped working and had to be triggered for us, but overall the set design was great, the puzzles were fun, and I had a great time!! Even with a lot of people in the room!! There’s definitely something for everyone to work on!!
The HeistThe Escape Game - NYC Times SquareEscape roomIRLI played The Heist years ago at the LA location but some of their puzzles were worn down and I ended up spending the whole game working on one while my friends did the rest of the room. This location’s was bigger and obviously much newer. This time around I REALLY enjoyed it, and didn’t really remember much from before! Made a lot of National Treasure references! Super fun!
Escape Operation: End Of DaysMission Escape GamesEscape roomIRLThe set and the concept were great, but I think I was missing something from the execution. Very much a technical room, but I wanted the puzzles to connect to the objective more. It felt like our objective wasn’t very clear, and the puzzles weren’t connected to anything, it was just opening various things til you got to the end. That said- we still had fun (just 2 of us in the room- I would have 3-4 max), I was just hoping for more with such a great concept!
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz13th Hour Escape Room - WhartonEscape roomIRLI think the reviews of this place made my expectations too high. The room itself was really fricken cool, and there was one element in particular that was just incredible. The puzzles were pretty easy and straightforward, and the design was awesome. That was all great! The thing I’ll say is- you can hear all of the other, scarier, rooms very clearly if they’re being used because you’re all in one huge warehouse. So through a lot of our experience we were hearing people scream bloody murder, and a lot of frightening sound effects that were really distracting. Our guide was also very distracted and fully entered our room at the end to help us with a puzzle we were already solving and didn’t need a clue for. So that took us out of the world. Idk the whole experience was very strange. But the room itself? Super cool. I think it just needed some music to drown out the other rooms
Mountain Top MurdersThe Great Escape Room - Queens Rego ParkEscape roomIRLThis one was memorable, I’ll tell ya that. Classic serial killer room with a lot of fun puzzles. There were a couple of jumpscares for us that had me LAUGHING. Really great!
The Haunted Hotel [ex Escape Artist: The Final Seance]The Great Escape Room - Queens Rego ParkEscape roomIRLWe had a great time with this! The theming was really cool, and though it was mainly a lot of locks, the puzzles to solve them were super fun! The only thing I’ll say is the end was kind of lackluster in comparison to the buildup we were getting. But even still, an awesome room! Easily done with 2 people who’ve played a lot of rooms, at most 4!
Escape The Hydeout: The Mystery Of Henry JekyllMission Escape GamesEscape roomIRLWe had a great time with this one! We needed a clue to get us started, but after that the rest of the game went pretty easily! I really liked the set and the puzzles were fun. The only thing I’d improve is more unique ways of unlocking things— there were a lot of keys opening locks to find more keys etc lol. But we still REALLY enjoyed and will definitely be back!
Grandma's Masterplan60Out - MelroseEscape roomIRLThis was SO FUN! I loved the theme and I loved the puzzles! Seriously so memorable. The only thing is that with both the games I’ve played at this location, the GM has come on over the god mic to give unsolicited hints, especially if something opened that we didn’t notice right away. I didn’t mind it as much this time because I was playing with newbies but generally that’s a pet peeve of mine. Still awesome though! Our GM was super nice!
Pharaoh's Tomb - CLOSEDMaze Rooms - HollywoodEscape roomIRLWe had a great time with this one! The room was a little worn down and some of the puzzles felt random in relation to the theme, but there were some really fun moments and when things and passageways opened up we got a real kick out of it! Something worth noting was that the GM fully came running into the room to locate a prop I had put down which felt unnecessary and scared us a little when we heard footsteps running in lol Flaws aside, it was a lot of fun! If you’re experienced, 2 people is plenty for this room! Maybe 3-4 for beginners!
