Brewery HeistNC EscapeEscape roomIRLLOTS of codes and locks, but the puzzles to get the codes were varied and fun. Some of the tech didn’t work as designed (to be expected from an older 1st-gen room), but a fun theme. We did this one with 2. I’d shudder to think of 10 people in there with so many chests to move around and so little space relative. Consider 4 ideal and 6 a max. Still, overall VERY fun and the puzzle quality alone makes this room worthwhile!
En Grève - Chez Mimi Cupcakes - COMING SOON60 Minutes Jeux D'Évasion - Montée MassonEscape roomIRLPerfect room. Well lit. Great simple low stakes story with many surprises and logical flow.
Le Dernier Arrêt [The Final Stop] - CLOSEDEscaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLGreat setting and concept, but simpler than escaparium’s other rooms in terms of story. Still, it was fun and played great - it’s just not Cathedral, Ctrl-alt, magnificent, etc
Ctrl Alt RebootEscaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLGreat story, performance, and hint delivery system; some genuinely delightful surprises in terms of puzzles and challenges; 2nd only to cathedral at escaparium imo!
La Cathédrale Oubliée [The Forgotten Cathedral]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLSimply excellent. GREAT story - I was immmersed the whole time. Great use of space. Loved the 4th wall break to view the workshop. All details were thought of (though some objects you need to see from a distance could be gently backlit to help us older players with weaker eyesight out?)
Armoire à Vendre [Wardrobe for Sale]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLCheerful and bright with a genuinely fun story - it took some prodding from the host to keep it centered, but it provided a great payoff. Fun mix of puzzles with some divide and conquer and linear play; could have used better lighting around puzzles
Le Jour du Jugement [Judgement Day]EliviascapeEscape roomIRLLoved it! Very scary, but great story and I loved that they explained the nuance of it after the fact so I could fully appreciate it. I really loved the first half, and the final challenge is one you’ll never (be able to) forget!
AbstractionEliviascapeEscape roomIRLLOVED. Great ambiance, flow, great variety of (lock-free!) puzzles, spacious, just a ton of fun
KappaExode - ÉvasionEscape roomIRLGreat concept and loved the well-lit conditions and decor - it made me appreciate the production values. Tongue in cheek and funny
La Nuit la Plus Longue [The Longest Night]EliviascapeEscape roomIRLLoved it. Lowest scare factor of the three rooms we did there; even those in our group who didn’t want to do a scary room found it very fun though. Great room host and flow; low light, which I usually dislike, but without locks and codes, low light was never an issue and enhanced ambiance
Marcheurs de rêves [The Dreamwalkers]Cabinet MysteriisEscape roomIRLFun story and vibe, but flow could use more guidance about what to work on when
Au Pays des Merveilles [In Wonderland]A Double Tour Immersive ExperiencesEscape roomIRLDefinitely max of four people! Lots of physical effort which was fun.
La Nuit du Loup et du Serpent [The Night of the Wolf and the Serpent]SOS Aventures - Quebec CityEscape roomIRLMore tedious than fun. Multiple double substitution puzzles; technology didn’t work to enter codes or solve clues multiple times, nor was it clear when multiple groups are talking when/where problems are solved.
Agatha Christie's Murder On The Orient ExpressEscapology - ColumbiaEscape roomIRLNice design and flow, but the deduction-based final puzzle feels more like work than fun. I don’t love that type of puzzle in escape rooms (love them individually) if it’s very involved (which this one is) as not everyone can really participate at once
The ObservatoryThe Gate EscapeEscape roomIRLI was surprised it was ranked so high on terpeca tbh. Some fun elements but a weak story and some tedious puzzles. Low production values on the intro video hurt too. Would recommend but may not have been worth the commute from Boston
