Clue EscapeThe Great Escape LakesideEscape roomIRLThis was a lot of fun for what it's designed to be. This room is part of a larger home with rooms themed to various games. The escape room amounted to basically a scavenger hunt version of clue, but it needed to be self-contained enough for guests to reset it themselves after playing. It's a fun addition to the rest of the games in this unique home and I wouldn't judge it according to the same standards of other "real" escape rooms.
The Ballad of the Sleeping DogfishMission: Escape CartersvilleEscape roomIRLThis was a super fun room with a lot of unique elements. As always with this venue, you can tell the experience was created with thoughtful attention to all the details by owners who are truly passionate about giving you a great escape.
Horror CircusGame Over Escape Rooms - AtlantaEscape roomIRLOf the 3 I've played so far, this is the best room at this venue. The visual appeal is most evenly matched with a decent puzzle flow here, with some truly fantastic scares. Also, this room did best at offering some non linear elements that allows everyone to be involved.
Lost City of AtlantisGame Over Escape Rooms - AtlantaEscape roomIRLMy main issue with this room was that it was *so* linear there wasn't really enough for an experienced team of 4 to do most of the time. Dim lighting and tech issues compounded this.
School of MagicGame Over Escape Rooms - AtlantaEscape roomIRLThe set design of this room is amazing. As someone who was once obsessed with the Harry Potter books, I loved all the references and how the gameplay echoed "The Philosopher's Stone". That said, the actual gameplay didn't live up to the potential of the design. While there were some very interesting puzzles, I didn't recognize that until afterwards because I was so frustrated by frequent tech problems, odd logic leaps, and linearity to the point where, even in a group of 3, one or more of us stood around with nothing to do. Without the set, I would have given this room a thumbs down, which is very sad to me because it has amazing potential.
School of Magic: The Dark CurseParanoia Quest - BufordEscape roomIRLFun and immersive magic adventure. I really loved how the majority of puzzles were practical, with very few locks. It really made it feel like you were truly doing magic. Our group of enthusiasts had a blast, but it's also a room that families, children, and less experienced players could enjoy and succeed in.
Trouble In Tinseltown - CLOSEDEvasive Escape Rooms - SarasotaEscape roomIRLThe theme of this room was really fun and well done. The entrance to the room is a big "wow" factor. The designers made smart decisions using a few pieces of tech for interactive and exciting reveals. The rest of the puzzle flow was still sharp, with some excellent puzzles that yielded answers for Gen 1 locks.
The Study: Relic Heist [prev. The Study: Final Exam] - CLOSEDParanoia Quest - AtlantaEscape roomIRLThis newly redesigned room is extremely impressive. Even as an enthusiast (150+ rooms), there were several unique and immersive puzzles that had my party and I going "Wow! That's cool!". I highly recommend this escape to anyone looking for a good challenge and innovative puzzle flow. I can't wait for the other redesigns coming soon to this location. I'm sure they'll be top tier as well!
Yuletide MagicEscape Artist Greenville - DowntownEscape roomIRLI love holiday rooms and I've played a lot of them. This is my favorite thus far! Inventive and clever game play that left my while group smiling ear to ear and talking about how cool all the aspects were throughout the entire room.
Dr. Fratelli's CabinEscape Artist Greenville - DowntownEscape roomIRLIt's hard to believe this is the venue's first-built room. It is still heads above a lot of other venues. The puzzles were creative and fun-challenging and GM interaction was fabulous.
Zero to Hero - CLOSEDEscape Artist Greenville - DowntownEscape roomIRLVery fun and immersive head to head game. Especially great if you love Marvel, Harry Potter, etc.
Castle FlüffendorEscape Artist Greenville - Hampton StationEscape roomIRLI played this room as my 150th escape experience. Not only is the room another awe-inducing entry in Escape Artist's Chimera Corp universe, with a combination of unique puzzles and fixed story elements that had my whole group giddy, but the management went above and beyond to help make my escape milestone one to remember. The only thing negative I can say about this room is that it was the last one there I had left to play, and I want more!
The DigParanoia Quest - BufordEscape roomIRLThis game was amazingly themed and had a lot of fun, hands on puzzles. My only (minor) gripe is that I wish we had known it was possible to accrue time penalties at the very beginning.
Pirate BayParanoia Quest - BufordEscape roomIRLThis a very fun pirate room. It would be best for less experienced groups. We really enjoyed it. We just enjoyed other rooms at this venue *more*.
Detention - CLOSEDParanoia Quest - BufordEscape roomIRLI love that this room exists. The main point of this experience is to provide scaffolding for those who have never done an escape/haven't done many so that they don't jump into a more involved room and get discouraged before they can begin. The theme and puzzles are fun to play and still provide a challenge. Even as an experienced enthusiast, I had a great time!
WonderlandParanoia Quest - BufordEscape roomIRLThis was my favorite at this location. The theming was done so well, and there were a lot of unique and uniquely presented puzzles. It was just super cool and I had a really good time every second.
Puppet Heist: The Hand Of LifeThe Bureau Adventure GamesEscape roomIRLI enjoyed this game a lot while playing. The framing of the adventure and set design are great. However, some of the puzzles could be workshopped to improve the game flow. I'd still recommend playing it for the uniqueness.
UFO: Go For LaunchThe Bureau Adventure GamesEscape roomIRLIn my opinion, this is the best room at this venue. Very creative set design and some unique, active puzzles that I really enjoyed. There was one puzzle that I was really unfond of. But, in the grand scheme, it didn't keep me from loving the room.
Possession At Haddon HeightsThe Bureau Adventure GamesEscape roomIRLOur group accidentally did this room in opposite order. It speaks well that the game flow is cohesive enough to make that possible. But we all felt as if the game should have been "more" somehow.
Scooby-Doo™ and the Spooky Castle AdventureEscapology - OrlandoEscape roomIRLThe main draw of this room is the themeing. If you like Scooby-Doo, you'll really appreciate the framing of this experience. Generally, it's a fun room with a lot of structure to help less experienced escapers. Definitely a fun time.
