Le Château du Supplice Éternel [The Castle of Eternal Suffering]Sauve Qui Peut - Saint-JeanEscape roomIRLA great room. From the opening entrance through the rest of the process we had a great time. "Are they allowed to do this"? was asked many times. We can out of this room with smiles on our faces and the puzzles were all interesting and new.
La Forêt de Falderon [Falderon Forest]Sauve Qui Peut - Saint-JeanEscape roomIRLThis room just didn't click for our group. The initial room looked great, but the letdown of being given cool tools to use, then being told they aren't used until later in the adventure was a letdown. The puzzle in the starting room had an extra piece that caused confusion and required the GM to come in and validate what pieces we had. The automated hint system didn't feel helpful to us, we would use the hints and recieve very similar responses. It was frustrating to not know which hint system to use( auto vs GM) and the automatic giving answers for puzzles that we weren't working on. The gnome answers were very funny, but didn't help when you are frustrated looking for something. If you are having any trouble in low light, this room can be hard to manage.
Ctrl Alt RebootEscaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLGet your brains ready. Run into the machine and enjoy the show. The rooms here are total immersive theater plus escape rooms. Our team of three have done five rooms at this location and loved every one of them.
UndercookedOmescape - SunnyvaleEscape roomIRLSo much fun!!!. We had a rollercoaster of emotions in this room. After the briefing of the GM, when we entered the chaos of the room with the 26 challenges, I felt like we had no chance to make headway on the puzzles. Luckily we had a full room of solvers and a couple toddlers that had fun delivering things to others. There were so many puzzles that everyone on the team had a mixture of puzzles they solved by themselves and one shared with others. We had a great time, and this room shines with bigger groups.
Chapter 1: Occam's ApartmentOff The Couch GamesEscape roomIRLWe did rooms 1-3 all in one playthrough. The overarching storyline created fun easter eggs and plot continuations in the later rooms. There is a great game within a game section that the whole team had a fun time exploring. We look forward to doing more rooms if we return in the future. The actors/ GMs did a great job throughout the game keeping things flowing and being in character at appropriate moments.
Chapter 3: The MorgueOff The Couch GamesEscape roomIRLWe did rooms 1-3 all in one playthrough. The continuation of characters through the stories was an amusing bonus. This room was a very different experience than most others since it is more of a score at the end which created lots of amusing arguing among our team about what our points should be traded for. They made some fun decisions to force the team to divide up multiple times during gameplay. Overall, totally worth it to play all the games in sequence at Off The Couch games.
Chapter 2: Norcross Art GalleryOff The Couch GamesEscape roomIRLWe did Chapters 1-3 all in one playthrough. Chapter two felt like the least able to stand on its own. The puzzles were different and inventive. Still worth playing as part of the whole storyline, and the actors interactions between Chapter 1,2 and in this room are very amusing.
The Roosevelt Escape RoomPalace GamesEscape roomIRLThe Roosevelt room was not as good as I was expecting from the other reviews. Overall it is a good room, but no one in our group had the "Wow" expression after leaving. The puzzles were inventive, but some of them just had too many iterations, that it felt more like a chore at the end.
The AttractionPalace GamesEscape roomIRLSimilar to our experience in the Roosevelt room, this room was good, but not spectacular. The storyline of the rooms made little sense to us. There is a large amount of music and video clips from the 1980s that didn't really mesh with the storyline.
Radio NowhereCase Closed EdinburghEscape roomIRLOut team had mixed opinions on this room. It was very novel in implementation, and not a traditional escape room. Some of our team enjoyed being DJs on air and others didn't want to go on air. Overall it is worth trying, but don't expect an escape room. DJ cool, DJ Jazzy Jeffy and DJ DJ checking out.
The Great LoudiniEscapable - Thornes Lane WharfEscape roomIRLWe did the live magician version and would highly recommend it. We were in the state of magician disbelief as tricks are done a couple times during the room which really adds to the ambiance. The flow of the room was great too, there are lots of hints that help guide what puzzles go into what locks, and lights/sounds help guide too.
The Reading WitchDeadlocked Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLOne of the best rooms on our trip to the UK. Our team of 3 had a blast interacting with the actors in the room. There are scary elements, but they aren't too creepy. Our 14 year old was brave enough to complete the room too. The room designers did a great job with room flow and escalating scary elements as the room progressed.
cQ OrigenesclueQuestEscape roomIRLThe first half of this room flowed well with out our team. But similar to other reviews my team had issues understanding the flow of puzzles in the second room. The set design was cool, but ultimately we had a frustrated feeling instead of an accomplished feeling when exiting the room.
The Battle for BritainEscape PlanEscape roomIRLA fun game that has more of a gameplay mechanic for part of the room instead of just opening puzzles.
Pushed for TimeEscape PlanEscape roomIRLWe had fun in the room. There are lots of different lasercut puzzles which make the room different. The "time machine" animation gets a bit long. We found the statue puzzle hard to understand, but still enjoyed the room.
Body CollectorsEscape City BuffaloEscape roomIRLA very well detailed room. It is much higher on ambiance of the set and searching in the dark, but less on the puzzle factor. There was an instance of a puzzle clue getting put in a place that we could never see it, which caused 10 minutes of frustration and the gamemaster needing to just tell us the answer. Also make sure one of your team members is not claustrophobic. Overall, we had fun in the room, but we liked this less than other rooms at this location.
Cabin of the Jersey DevilExit 4 - Toms RiverEscape roomIRLThis room just wasn't our cup of tea. The theming and set are nice. After having done all the rooms at this location, our experienced team never felt like any of the Exit 4 rooms flowed like some other companies do. The puzzles would be interesting in retrospect, but they didn't really feel like an "aha" moment that makes rooms satisfying. Also the clue system is a bit "too direct" sometimes. It seems like the clues are all pre-typed, so there isn't a "here is a little hint" type of clue
Ragnarok - a Viking SagaLabyrinth Escape Games - BoiseEscape roomIRLThe rooms are very well themed. The prop is a bit heavy, but it was amusing to use. We had a fun time, and there were tons of puzzles. Our team of 3 was stymied for a couple of the puzzles but was able to eventually figure them out.
There's Gnome Place Like HomeAlcatraz Escape Games [prev. Escape Utah - Castle of Chaos]Escape roomIRLShort answer, we didn’t have fun. The tech didn’t work correctly, GM didn’t give us helpful hints. And some of the puzzles were ambiguous. This all combined to make our team leave the facility in stunned silence after completing the room. UPDATE- I exchanged several emails with the game designer, and he was very apologetic for our experience since there were technical issues that prevented us from having the expected experience. He changed a puzzle per our feedback and added training for the game masters. I'll chalk our bad experience up to bad luck and initial startup issues for the room.
Himitsu Station - The Forgotten MarketsHimitsu StationEscape roomIRLWhat a unique experience. Totally worth doing. The forced public rooms created an interesting composition of 3 experienced escapers and 4 people that have never done a room escape. The larger group wasn’t a hindrance. The ambiance was amazing, from the atrium, to the entry and as we progressed through the game. The experience is more of a story than an escape room. We look forward to any future rooms.
