“Fantastic room. We both loved it and really liked the puzzles which were original and in keeping with the theme. A great mix which were all superbly, subtly signposted and what we absolutely loved was the confirmation message whenever a clue was verbally correctly noted - very clever as saves any issues with padlocks or wasted time repeatedly attempting the wrong code. This game was still a challenge so felt great to compete just in time. Strongly recommend this room and venue with excellent hosts, clueing being only when really stuck, and lovely people”

Some different puzzles we've never seen before, and really refreshing to be in what felt like a one off custom built room from an independent room maker. Great hosting, and great rooms all around here, would definitely recommend and comfrotably in our top 5 favourite rooms.”

You have 60 minutes to complete the task before the temple collapses and the treasure will be lost forever!

“Another great escape room, this Nottah, is very expansive and there is a lot to do. Time management is important and asking for clues may be needed if you are stuck and don’t want to waste time in the early stages. There are several rooms and crawling spaces, theming is great, and the puzzles are good.”

You can, that's who. The Commissioner has put together a special task force of straight, trusted cops and you're on the team. You've spent the last few months infiltrating their network and now tonight is the night to get the evidence you need to put them away forever. But it won't be easy, your cover might be blown! Do you have what it takes?

“This escape room was good fun, we took a long time in the first room, and this resulted in us being a little on the back foot. There are a lot of reveals, and some twits and turns. We made it out but I’d recommend asking for a hint if you are not making progress, as it wasn’t difficult but there was a lot to do. Our hosts were great and gave us enough information to solve the puzzles for ourselfs when stuck. I’d say that this is a very high quality room, and although not as high-tech as others it worked very well.”

The Labyrinth has been built to Lord Barrington's exacting standards to put your skills to the test: can you control the flow, ignite the spark, and move the earth to find your way through the maze, release the Minotaur from his cage and make your escape? During your journey gather gold and silver tokens to stake your claim as a legend of the Labyrinth!

“Just completed this one today as a team of 2. Really good fun! It was part escape the room and part points based. Easy enough for inexperienced players to get a good chunk of points and escape, but also some harder coins to collect for more experienced players! We ended up with 32/40 points (would’ve been more if it wasn’t for a silly mistake from me 🤦‍♀️ iykyk). People with good observation skills would do pretty well at this room, it’s not one of our best skills but we managed to do pretty well!”

Many years ago an ancient statuette of the Egyptian cat goddess Bastet was stolen from the private collection of Lord Barrington Smyth. This statue was not only said to be one of his favourite pieces, but was also believed to have great powers, bestowing great fortune upon its owner. There had been no information regarding the location of the lost statuette, until recently Lord Barrington heard rumours that a statuette matching Bastet's description is now in the possession of a local Mystic, who lives deep in the National forest. Lord Barrington needs you to enter the Mystic's Cabin to locate and retrieve the statuette, and so return it to its rightful owner! Do you dare to enter the Mystic's secret domain?

“We really enjoyed this room. Our first of the day when we are always a bit slow but we love the rooms at this venue as really logical puzzles that you can trust to be so which helps when stuck. Superb hosting as usual here and whilst an easier room we didn’t make light work of it but really enjoyed and strongly recommend for newer players or anyone who wants a fun, solid game”

“The GM was really friendly and gave us hints just when we needed them! This room is really pretty and has some fun puzzles themed around it. I really want to go back to try their other games! If you’re in Birmingham looking for a room to do I 100% recommend this one! If I was to note anything the building has a lot of stairs and the room can be a bit physical, just something to think about if you have mobility issues.”

“We really enjoyed Hellevator, it’s a very high-tech room with lots of special effects. Most of the puzzles were code and password based, but the overall experience was great. It starts with a video which introduced the back story and characters. Our guide Emma was very friendly and super passionate about the games, she got us into the room quickly and looked after us throughout the game and afterwards. Would highly recommend this game and Clue HQ in general”

How Do Escape Rooms Work?

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
