Super ambient murder mystery room, with solid puzzles and a thorough story. Host Ronan was absolutely excellent, and the final moment was some of the most fun we’ve ever had in an escape room. So easy to tell this is a room made with love!! 🚢

Absolutely brilliant room - not your traditional escape room but we loved it! The setting is great and provided lots of amusement for DJ Disco Duck and DJ Lo-Fi! Rowan was a fantastic host and cannot recommend this enough, one of the best rooms we’ve done, excellent story and attention to detail and definitely coming back to try the other room when we return to Edinburgh! Book now, you won’t be disappointed!

We loved every second of this room. We played as a group of 2 and felt there was the perfect amount of puzzles to keep us busy and entertained. Some nice aha! moments that let you feel smart for a second but generally not too tricky and just great fun all round. The puzzles are themed nicely and I imagine this would be a good room to do with kids. Matthew and his associate Steve, from NASA, were a joy and expertly nudged us in the right direction when we just couldn't see it. We'll give this a few months then happily go back and do it all again.

This game looked really good, pretty immersive set. The puzzles weren’t too difficult but required some teamwork and some out of the box thinking. Not a lot of technical aspects but that suits the olden day theming. Briefing was given in character, the GM was great and very friendly.

Julia was a wonderful host who, with the help of some nice light and sound work and a stunning location, set the scene beautifully. The room is a joy from start to finish for those who love a puzzle. The puzzles are varied but linear which meant that both of us were kept busy and totally engaged for the whole time. Everything is beautifully made and begs to be touched and poked and twiddled. Treat yourself to an atmospheric hour of fun puzzle solving that allows you to feel a little smart. I would happily walk right back in and do it all again. We can’t wait to try their other room.

Team of 2 we just escaped with 2 1/2 mins to go and only 2 clues. Loved the atmospheric theming and some really impressive puzzles too we've never seen before. Lots to do especially for 2 people and probably their best room.

Locked In Edinburgh

We did this room as a group of 4 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I have played locked in games before but in Glasgow not on Edinburgh. We got slightly lost for the location but once we walked through the centre we were greeted with our games host. All of the game hosts at this venue seemed really engaging and passionate about their job, which made all the difference. Although this game did not have live actors you are still facing a fear factor in the room. The room was spacious and we never felt cramped and we were able to split off and solve different tasks in the room. I believe there was every possible lock I have ever encountered at this room. It has an electronic element but was not a heavy room on technology. The story line flowed well and we constantly knew what our aims were to get out of the room. I recommend everyone to do this room, it was an energetic fast paced room with lots of fun throughout! I can’t wait to go back and do another room at this company.

Great escape rooms in a cool building (this building was previously an old veterinary clinic). We did The Distillery while on vacation in Edinburgh and had a blast. Out game master was so kind, welcoming, and attentive during our game. He didn't over nudge us and let us have time to figure out the puzzles. The room was well decorated, and it had many different types of interesting puzzles. It was a locks on locks on locks kind of room, but it made sense given the theming. Really enjoyed. Will definitely do another one here the next time we are in Edinburgh!

🧪🥼 An incredibly fun puzzle-fest with a very satisfying climax- maybe one of my faves to date! I know the general rule of escape rooms is less people = a better time, but for this one, trust me: this non-linear and densely packed room is well-suited for a large group! I played as a duo and we were running around, hard. Our gamemaster was very nice and removed a puzzle they keep for larger groups, probably saving us about ten minutes. So much fun and definitely a favourite of ours on our Scotland trip! Do it!

Great theming and set design, all of the puzzles were logical with a good range of difficulty. The puzzles flowed naturally even though the structure was non linear. The staff were all incredibly friendly, always up for a laugh and make you feel welcome.

How Do Escape Rooms Work?

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
