“From start to finish this was an amazing experience. We were giving a superb brief from a character in the story which made us feel fully immersed from the first minute all the way until we escaped. Really nice puzzles that all flowed well during the game, clues were delivered promptly when needed which was great. Highly recommend for all type of teams”

“We had an absolute blast in this room! More of a mystery-solving experience than a typical escape room (we were encouraged to take our time to enjoy the experience rather than rush through it). Ronan was a fantastic host—energetic and enthusiastic. We are excited to try their other room on our next trip to Edinburgh. Highly recommend!”

“Absolutely brilliant room - not your traditional escape room but we loved it! The setting is great and provided lots of amusement for DJ Disco Duck and DJ Lo-Fi! Rowan was a fantastic host and cannot recommend this enough, one of the best rooms we’ve done, excellent story and attention to detail and definitely coming back to try the other room when we return to Edinburgh! Book now, you won’t be disappointed!”

“This game looked really good, pretty immersive set. The puzzles weren’t too difficult but required some teamwork and some out of the box thinking. Not a lot of technical aspects but that suits the olden day theming. Briefing was given in character, the GM was great and very friendly.”

“Team of 2 we just escaped with 2 1/2 mins to go and only 2 clues. Loved the atmospheric theming and some really impressive puzzles too we've never seen before. Lots to do especially for 2 people and probably their best room.”

“We did this room as a group of 4 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I have played locked in games before but in Glasgow not on Edinburgh. We got slightly lost for the location but once we walked through the centre we were greeted with our games host. All of the game hosts at this venue seemed really engaging and passionate about their job, which made all the difference. Although this game did not have live actors you are still facing a fear factor in the room. The room was spacious and we never felt cramped and we were able to split off and solve different tasks in the room. I believe there was every possible lock I have ever encountered at this room. It has an electronic element but was not a heavy room on technology. The story line flowed well and we constantly knew what our aims were to get out of the room. I recommend everyone to do this room, it was an energetic fast paced room with lots of fun throughout! I can’t wait to go back and do another room at this company.”

“Played as a 2 in The Distillery, I wasn't expecting much as this is one of Locked In's rooms you don't hear much about compared to the favourites. Have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. We did it pretty much together although some parts were able to be done singly if you had more people. We found the puzzles to be fun and 1 in particular was definitely exciting! We made it out with 2 minutes to go. Tom was friendly and a great GM who set the scene well and only gave us one clue but only when we needed it!”

“The Secret Lab was delightful. It was fast-paced and engaging with a great mix of puzzles and several very satisfying moments. There were a few specific puzzles that were unlike anything I’ve seen elsewhere, and overall there was a ton of variety in what we were asked to do. They made excellent use of a space with a very unique history. Our GM was excellent - friendly and accommodating and clearly paying attention to our gameplay - and the mechanism for delivering clues to players was a real joy.”

“Family of 5 (3 teenagers) tackled the Space Academy Room - would definitely recommend at least 4 people for this room although would be possible with less. The theming was well done and it definitely made us work as part of a team testing our communication skills! A good techy room but fairly linear in bits. We all thoroughly enjoyed it although all had different "favourite" puzzles!”

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
