Such a great game! Spooky, but not terrifying. Lovely set design. The owners are lovely and care so much about the room and you can tell the passion that goes into making the game. Super clear, clean game. ❤️

strong puzzles that flowed really well with a bunch of innuendo and a fun theme. another room from these guys designed for two players, while that didn't feel strictly necessary it was a fun experience and possibly the first room where we haven't asked for hints.

clueQuest is London’s premiere escape room operation. You can get drinks. You can get merch like a magnet with your group’s picture. Excellent, challenging room. Puzzles all made sense. Our group preferred the cQ:ORIGENES room, but we liked this one, too. Kirstyn was an excellent GM who was very passionate about the company!

Outstanding gameplay. Some of the best we’ve encountered in terms of flow, challenge level, and variety of puzzles. Moreover, we felt welcomed and attended to throughout the entirety of our experience. The game master even called in to ask if we would like the music lowered when he noticed that our daughter was plugging her ears. (She does so during most escape rooms in case anything jumps out.) We spoke with our game master afterwards, and he said that the few red herrings in the room are there to help him assist with clues. (They cue people to space and time in the narrative, so they make it quicker for the players to act on the hints.) Overall, we really loved the room and wish we lived in London so we could return and play the others!

We did this room as a two person team of enthusiasts. The puzzles were varied and interesting, using a combination of both analog and fun tech elements. It probably wouldn’t parallel well, so I would recommend a small team for folks who have done a lot of escape rooms. It felt well balanced for the two of us. The set and theming was really where this room shines and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. Sadie was a great GM. If we had more time, we would definitely love to do more rooms at Clue Quest.

Really fantastic game - some good puzzles and happily my son is now at an age where he can do a bunch of adult level puzzles on his own (and arguably quicker than me) as there is a lot to do and much can be done in parallel.

3rd escape room in London was a success! The Adventure Begins… is a brilliant nod to the film The Great Escape, sans motorcycle jump. Our game master Sarah was a wonderful host, and the puzzles and theme were fun!

Fun and unique room! Different aspects than your typical escape room - our host Jake was super nice and was very helpful in hints. Think if we had 3 players it would’ve been perfect bc there was so much to do since it was just two of us!

A very good escape room with a lot of laughs and "oh cool!" moments. While it's not as standout as Battle for Britain, I wouldn't recommend skipping it. I was thinking of several puzzles days later.

How Do Escape Rooms Work?

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
