The 12 best escape rooms in Cologne (2026)

Secret Subway is our newest and most difficult room, this is why we decided to make it 75 minutes long. The atmosphere of the room is reminiscent of Jules Verne, it is a true steampunk room that was created based on a true story with a twist. You enter the world of an inventor who would deserve all the glory but was sadly forgotten about – you will also realise this as you turn on their fantastic inventions! You final goal is to find the name of the inventor and escape from the trap they set up! As you may be accustomed to at E-Exit, this escape room is also full of surprising twists and turns and effects you wouldn’t even think of. We tried our best to create a room that provides maximum challenge and experience, and based on our players’ feedback, we succeeded! Of course, the final moments of the room are absolutely unique as well. Secret Subway is especially recommended to experienced players and enthusiasts; beginners should choose one of our easier rooms first! The room is recommended for bigger teams.

“If you're in Budapest and want to do an escape room, definitely do this one! This is an awesome room! Their high tech puzzles all worked well and led to a very fluid experience moving from puzzle to puzzle. There's a part midway through that is just ridiculously cool!”

“Great room with a lot of atmosphere. Lots of fun puzzles. Fairly linear. Big space - I don't think this would be a good room for 2 due to one of the puzzles. Multi-level - expect to go up and down a ladder several times.”

“I was struck by the uniqueness of this game’s theme (I’ve certainly not seen another “Pablo Escobar” room) and it absolutely delivers — great set with a surprising number of different areas to explore. Linear gameplay and one steep narrow staircase make this game best with a small number of players, but there are some excellent puzzles and everything is thematically appropriate. Highly recommended.”

“The Aztec Catacombs room in Budapest is my personal favorite among the escape rooms I've experienced. Its design is excellent, perfectly capturing the Aztec theme with a strong Indiana Jones vibe. The room is highly immersive, making you feel like you're truly in an ancient catacomb filled with traps. A surprising and humorous element adds to the charm, and the music enhances the overall atmosphere, making the experience more realistic. The difficulty level is moderate, with puzzles that flow naturally and don't require much external help. The storyline is clear, reducing the need for assistance from the Game Master. The room is packed with unique game elements I've never seen before. Additionally, it's located under an escape room bar, where you can enjoy a themed cocktail after the game, adding a nice touch to the experience. The cocktail was reasonably priced by Budapest standards, making the whole experience enjoyable and memorable.”

Heaven&Hell is definitely a favourite of our players due to its unusual story and unique puzzles. There are only a few padlocks representing traditional escape rooms in this game, the features of new generation escape rooms are dominant. This game is a truly unique one among the escape rooms Budapest has to offer because of the individually designed puzzles, effects that you cannot find anywhere else and multiple surprising interactive elements. We recommend this room to experienced players who have played several escape rooms before but smart and courageous beginners can also visit the afterlife; the experience will be memorable either way. Don’t miss out! Are you ready for the journey?

“Very nice game with unique things. The setting is weird but nice at the same time. Story itself is quite obvious but it didnt matter that much because the game is full of puzzles which keeps you going. We played in two people and we have still a lot to do. I would reccommended if you have time in Budapešť.”
